For $3.00 the Pink Floyd light shows are fantastic entertainment If you get motion sick easily, have vertigo or optical seizures--this is NOT for you! This really is not a child friendly show either. Most parents with kids leave early. They also show Led Zeppelin shows sometimes

This is one of those spots that can transform an adult (particularly my husband) into a wide-eyed kid overjoyed at playing around with science. The interactivity is top-notch, and while many of the exhibits are quite old, they do rotate our several of the rooms tho keep things fresh (we had a fun time exploring the new Cats & Dogs exhibit earlier this month). Most of the long-term exhibitions continue to be interesting over time (particularly the interactive science area on the main floor). You can't beat the price either. It's free unless you're attending a special event (we especially enjoy the planetarium shows).

FREE museum in kalamazoo! I like when the local community would have free museums and parks. We frequent this place once a month or once in three months to stop in and see if they have new exhibits. We love taking when our friends or families would come in town so they could learn kalamazoo culture pretty quickly. Everything is self education so it's pretty cool.

My nieces and nephew call this place the Kala-Museum. There are a lot of interactive exhibits for the younger ones especially to take advantage of. There's a news studio, a diner, and other areas for kids to dress up and pretend. My niece was a huge fan of the diner and whipping up sandwiches and ice cream cones. The admission to the museum is free, which is incredible when you have a troop of little ones. You can also buy tickets to the special shows in the planetarium (like Sesame Street, etc.), which we did, or the museum also offers free 20 min shows in there as well. Great for rainy days or any day.

First time here. I loved to walk into a place that makes you feel like a kid again while still being able to learn from all the interesting exhibits. I love the hands on interactivity of this museum and it even has a planetarium, you pay extra, but not much at all. There are 3 floors of exhibits, with lots to do and see per floor, so plan your time accordingly. Its a great experience for the young and old alike.

Sunday Funday, I'm glad I finally mustered up the motivation to come visit you Kalamazoo Valley Museum... I don't know why it took so long for me to come visit seeing as you're 100% free and 100% awesome! Moral of the story: Don't be lazy like me. You're truly a sanctuary for all ages... Stuffed to the brim with Kalamazoo history and more- my favorite is the mummy you have stashed on the 3rd floor, she's a beauty (said in Australian accent)! I even had the determination to build a K'Nex car for your slot car race track! ...A 7 year old's race car beat mine, BUT we all know children cheat ...and that I'm definitely not just saying this because even at 24 years of age I'm still a sore loser. You'll end up staying here much longer than intended... Did I mention you're FREE and AWESOME?! Because you are.

Great place! You can't beat free admission! Lots to do and see! We took my inlaws and my 4 year old daughter. All of us found something interesting and fun to do. The toddler room was great and very clean. All the staff we encountered was polite and knowledgeable. We are from out of town and made a special trip just to see the museum and we weren't disappointed at all. Parking was pricey across the street but wasn't t horrible. We plan to go again. Their exhibits were so informative and lots of things to touch and do for my preschooler age kiddo. I like any place that lets her run and enjoy and learn ! It was the perfect afternoon trip for this Unschooling/Homeschool Family!

In amazement of everything :)

My favorite of the current exhibits is the 'Cobalt to Indigo' Asian display. The high school pieces are impressive too. The museum is free on Thursdays and has a free parking lot across from the back of the building.

There is free parking available in parking lots across from entrances on South and Lovell streets. The museum wasn't busy when we were there, which was nice as we were able to leisurely wander the galleries. It's not a huge museum, but I loved the Kyungmi Shin: A Story to Finding Us exhibit (through May 12, 2024). The artworks were stunning and I loved trying to find hidden images in each. The other main exhibit was American Realism: Visions of America, 1900-1950, which didn't resonate with me personally as much, but it was still interesting to see. The permanent collection downstairs was nice - I especially liked the Tiffany lamps and jewelry. There is a Chihuly sculpture hanging in the entryway, which is really cool to see. The gift shop is nicely curated with lots of great books, gifts, and more. Nate got a cute little cat shaped ceramic chopstick rest!
