Hands down favorite Greek restaurant in all of Louisiana (and perhaps the world, yeah I'm looking at you too Greece) The owner (Mr. Kamal?) is the friendliest most down to earth guy you'll meet. Then, the food, oh my gosh the food. I didn't even like hummus until I had Kamals hummus. I didn't even like tea until I had their Lebanese Tea!!! Everything from their gyro to their chicken , to their fried cheese to their spinach pies and the flowing drinks. This is a must visit place, rather you want a nice sit down or had a rough day at work and don't feel like cooking? Hop through their drive through to pick up your order! It's true what they say, "You get what you pay for" so here you really get good tasting food and generous portion of their chicken schwarma salad and especially if you buy one pound of the chicken and the fattouch salad dressing - always fresh and very very filling!!!! The food was delicious. The atmosphere was terrible. The servers literally ran around like chickens with their heads cut off (one of them actually used those words). The servers and the chef (Kamal) were shouting orders and instructions back and forth as though the diners couldn't hear. It was not a relaxed, dining experience. The portions were small. Kamal's Kafe is a great hidden gem! My husband and I just moved to the area from Houston, and we were hoping to find a restaurant that wasn't fast food or seafood. Kamal's was cozy; the waitstaff were warm and welcoming, and they were very much on top of things. The food is delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the hummus, the veggies, and the EGGPLANT SPECIAL especially! I've never enjoyed anything quite like the eggplant special--it has a Cajun flair with little shrimp on top. It is a must-try. We also spoke to the owner, who was very funny and friendly. We enjoyed being able to see the chefs working diligently in the back as well. I ate here 2 nights in a row for business dinners. First night was very quiet and the food was amazing. My colleague got the lamb shank and the shank was as big as his head falling off the bone. I got the shawarma pasta and was not disappointed. Kamal was very friendly, polite, and entertaining. The second night we had a larger party for same reasons and were not disappointed either. I got the Meat Stuffed plate (cabbage rolls, grape leaves, etc.) and it was great. At the end of our meal, Kamal came by to ask how everything was and ended up chatting with us for nearly an hour. I have always gotten the Gyro Plate with Greek Salad. OUTSTANDING!!! However, they have an extensive menu and I really need to branch out on my next trip!!! The hummus and pita bread before the meal is tasty and the fried cheese appetizer is the BOMB!!! The portions are just right and if you leave hungry then it's your fault. The atmosphere is low key, the lighting while not dim is low. It would really be a great place to take a date. So if you're looking for something one date night keep this place in mind. The waitress we had tonight was great and mixed a stiff drink. TASTY!!! They only have one foreign beer, some type of Lebenese beer and it's on the "to try" list next time I'm in. As my esteemed gentlemens club comrades can confirm, nothing pleases me more after crushing a case of shiner bock to myself than a plate stuffed to the brim with Kamal's. First I got the moussaka and a Tabbouleh salad, the salad was 6.50 it was fresh but a tiny amount... when you order a salad you are ordering it in place of a meal... this was a side salad for that price.... the meat moussaka was bland and for 14.00 very small portion...the portion I get from Alabama was 3 dollars cheaper and twice as much with mich better flavor.... The chicken was good. It to was bland, the mushrooms where out of a can. Guess I'm spoiled to having Fresh mushrooms in my white sauce but for the price? I believe they should be. I decided to try the fried cheese because of the reviews and it was amazing - again, very pricey at $9, I think they should charge half that or allow a person to place a half order. Food didn't taste terrible but I was not impressed!! After reading all the reviews, we were so excited to try this place out! We got the gyro plate and the mediterranean chicken plate. Did not like the salad at all, gyro plate was ok but there was no sauce at all!! Odd!!! Mediterranean chicken came with onions and peppers but too greasy and chicken is a bit tough for me! Went for a business lunch and was very impressed! Owner Mr Kamal greeted us and sat us at our table. While observing him with Patrons it seems like he has a great relationship with them. I ordered a combination plate which is $15 and my salad literally just had just oil(no flavor) and barely any cheese on it. Not sure how that mistake is made, but okay. I would have said something but I went through drive thru. I also ordered musaka. I know places sometimes make it different. It wasn't horrible, but it definitely wasn't my favorite. This is probably petty, but I'm going to be honest, it ticked me off. I asked for the Grecian sauce that most Greek restaurants provide with the combination plate and most provide with the musaka and I didn't realize till I got my card back that this place charged me $1.75. I have no problem paying the value for something, but that's not it. It was a little bitty container. I was spending $22 for the plate and side, you charge $1.75 for Grecian sauce, it's ridiculous. I personally feel that that's nickel and diming people for average Greek. The incomplete salad and that type of greed is enough for me to not go back. read more

Had a great dining experience that started from the moment we entered the restaurant. Our server, Ryan, was an excellent host and immediately offered suggestions after we mentioned it was our first time eating Lebanese cuisine. As per Ryan's suggestion, we ordered Kamal's Kafe Meza, a huge collection of dishes that included a savory Grecian dip and chicken and Gyro. I didn't like all the dishes, but I was pleased with the chance to taste dishes new to me. We brought home two containers full of food! For dessert we had a decadent slice of tiramisu. The chicken shawarma is so spicy I LITERALLY could not eat it. I love Greek food and I love spicy things but this was just too much. Not to mention I'm not use to my mouth burning from chicken shawarma.... we had a take out order and called back concerned bc like I said chicken shawarma shouldn't be spicy and they claimed it was because we had the "first cut" regardless I didn't touch my chicken. everything else was okay the hummus didn't taste very fresh made. all in all I don't think the meal was worth $40. I'm shocked at the number of positive reviews. I eat Lebanese at least once a week and I've eaten here several times in the past and swore it off after my last visit wasn't even edible. I ordered the fried cheese as an appetizer and it arrived to the table with burnt slices of cheese sitting in black grease. I was dumbfounded that the waiter even placed it on the table. Then he acted shocked when I asked to return it, which is something I rarely ever do. Well at the insistence of friends, I visited once again for lunch and once again the food was terrible. The chicken shawarma was black all around the edges and was extremely dry to the point that I couldn't eat it. The salad was mediocre at best with wilted brown spotted lettuce and I find their dressing to be on the pungent side. I tasted my lunch the rest of the day, Yuck. This is not a very good representation of what Lebanese food should taste like and definitely not the best this area has to offer...thank goodness. read more
