Catamaran, only house cocktail not offered in 32oz
    David M.

This is a place i always avoided but a Christmas party is a Christmas party so i made it to see my coworkers for our annual outing. The service at the bar is pretty neat at the front, then again it was only 9pm so that could change as the night got longer. They only have one original cocktail that is normal sized (the catamaran $12) as everything else is served in 32oz, 48oz and 64oz. The normal drinks can also be ordered in normal size, the gin and tonic being pretty decent. My drinks were the Catamaran (negroni-ish), Orange en Feu, which barely contained any liquor and was mostly ice, it can be shared and it's kind of affordable at $20 for a liter. I finally had a Delirium strong beer to cap off the night. Onto the food which was hit and miss, the fried chicken was solid but not the Japanese Karaage type, other decent plate was the ribs which was perfectly spiced and grilled We ordered a second serving which came undercooked. The misses were the ravioli dumplings and the ramen noodles with pulled beef which was a tiny portion we had to split and it had no broth! The ambiance is what i was dreading, lots of drunk and drugged up students and this place turns into a thrashed nightclub with the obligatory long lineup to get in or out. I hate being in a loud nightclub and the service makes you pay for every drink at a time. After a while it's best to go home than to stay since I can have Sapporo at home but I cant here since they dont offer it for some odd reason.

Aloe baby in a 32oz pitcher. Deliciously deadly!

Beautiful place; they have a gorgeous bar and great decor. We went on a Tuesday, 8 of us. The staff seemed very new to the service industry. Odd responses when asking for beers and other things. Can I have a 20oz of labatt 50. Bartender replies "uhhh we only have pints of 50" with a very confused look. However the odd conversation, everyone was very pleasant and drinks were serviced relatively quickly. Delicious drinks might I add. Would for sure return during the summer for some drinks on the patio.

Maple salmon sashimi and "walk in the park" cocktail

Kampaï Garden is one of my favourite places to go out in Montreal! I love the beer garden vibe, mixed with the greenery and the neon signs. They also have pool tables and basketball arcade which is a fun addition! Another this is that they have gender neutral bathrooms, but also guys and girls bathrooms which is awesome. What makes this place standout is that not only can you come here to enjoy the DJ's throwback hits while dancing, the food is delicious. I started the night with just my boyfriend and I, and were seated at a table. We had the maple salmon sashimi which was so amazing! Everything about that dish still makes my mouth water to this day. We also had the pork ribs which were ordinary but definitely fell off the bone easily. We shared the "walk in the park" cocktail which was good, but they always put so much ice in their drinks. The food and drinks in general are expensive, but they are still worth it. The service was very rapid and our waiter was very friendly. When the rest of the group got in, we got bottle service. I do wish that we got seated somewhere rather than standing right next to the bar, but we were such a big group by the end of the night that it didn't really matter. I've had many great nights here so I had to rate it a 5 star!

I chose this place for a bachelorette party of seven. Best choice I have made! The menu was different and fun we ended up almost ordering the whole menu and share it amongst everyone. This place is majority sharing size. Good quality food. Every single female enjoyed every bite and thanked me for booking at Kampaï. Service was fantastic, good attitude and our main server was perfect at her job! Atmosphere and decor was exactly what I wanted, classy, grown, yet fun. I for sure will be going back!!! Thank you for the experience

I've heard lots of hype about this place, then heard negative comments about the service and so just kinda pushed it on the side of my list for a later time. It is right next to my work now so a couple of weeks ago when it was really sunny, my colleagues and I decided we'd go have lunch outside. As Kinka was completely full on the terrace, we popped over to Kampai instead. It was almost empty, with maybe 2-3 tablea occupied. So I figured we were in for it.... To my surprise, the food was actually quite good, service was nice because there was pretty much no one (lol!!). It is a little higher priced than other Japanese restaurants around but the quality felt better and we were quite happy with what we got: Grilled hot bowl and Poke bowl. I'd come back again for a sunny lunch on the terrace :)

I've visited Kampai Garden with my girlfriends on a Thursday evening, we had chosen this place for drinks, it was my first time there as I wanted to wait for the frenzy to go down before visiting. We arrived around 5:30, the restaurant was not busy but started filling up very quickly around 6:30. We ordered a variety of cocktails that are only served in pitchers: Jungle Juice Margarita, Kampai Mojito, and Passion Fruit Splash as well as appetizers: Fried Chicken, Hush Puppies, and Pork Dumplings. Unfortunately, we were not impressed by the drinks, one of them in particular, which left us all an unpleasant aftertaste, the appetizers were ok but nothing out of the ordinary. The place is well decorated if you're into the neon-catchy-phrase type of ambiance. The service was great and very quick, however, I was not thrilled by the food and drinks experience... Overall experience: 3.5.

Very disappointed. I decided to give this place another chance last night. While the menu options I made yesterday were way better than during my first visit, the restaurant failed to mention whether on their social media channels, a sign on the outside of the resto itself or the bouncers/hostesses that I had to engage with before being seated, that there was a private event starting. Literally, I had to engage with 3 different people before we were seated and no one mentioned it. The entire point of going back was to enjoy their ambiance and play pool, at the owner's suggestion based on my last review. Because of the private event, we were not allowed to check out the pool table area so once again, it was just a place with small, overpriced plates. Completely ridiculous. The next time someone suggests going there - I'll make sure we go elsewhere.

Made a reservation for 9pm for a group of 6 and honestly that's the way to go if you're trying to go here as a late-night bar - when we walked out at 10:30pm there was a line of people waiting to get in. It's a drinks and small plates place. Food is good but I'd recommend going if you're not super hungry! Noodles were my fave dish. Love their pitchers to share!

I really enjoyed my visit to Kampai Garden! The ambience was pretty good, the food and drinks were excellent, but the service was a little slow. Their concept in Kampai is to share the menu, both drinks and food, which I thought was super cute. We got the black bean udon dish and a cocktail that I forgot the name, but it was the only one with vodka in it. Oops. Their place is very much a Japanese fusion, so I didn't expect the dish to be authentically Japanese (especially since there's no such thing as black bean udon in Japan lol), but I really enjoyed it! My friend and I savoured it and also enjoyed the drink, which was a really refreshing sour one. The decoration of Kampai is so cute, I adore it. It has a very classy black and white theme from its floor to the tiled tables, and some neon touches on the walls. Some seats have a sofa-like feel to it, with the cushions and everything. I noticed that their utensil holders were also wasabi pea cans, which I found to be a cute contrasting touch to the modern vibe they were going for. One last thing, I'm just going to say that I love their bathrooms. It's on the mezzanine floor and you would see "BOYS" and "GIRLS" in front of you, but what I didn't notice at first was their gender-neutral bathroom, "WHOEVER" on the right. I flipped out and got really happy. Overall, I enjoyed the experience overall and I appreciate that this place is right near Concordia, where I study! I'm looking forward to take my other friends there as well.

So glad we found this restaurant! As a New Yorker traveling in Montreal, I definitely recommend it to tourists for the ambiance and drinks! Love love love the ramen (no soup base) and their rum drinks! On the flip side, the shrimp tacos and the yakitori were okay, nothing special. They did have amazing r&b throwbacks from the 90s! (Music is too loud to bring your parents)

Very instagrammable spot! The food is amazing, I just wish the portions were bigger. We went on a friday night and decided to stay for the night; the music was mainly mainstream and the crowd veryyyy young (18-21).

It was my wife birthday dinner, her first birthday since we're married. For the occasion I've made a reservation 24h ahead online and got a confirmation by email and SMS. When we got there, we were squeezed into a small corner. A few moment after we sat down, the hottest came back said she wanted us to change to a better table. I was really happy and appreciated the offer. The food is just meh... Not surprising at all, didn't had the WOW factor. The food... Taste is okay... But the presentation is so random. Good thing the light were dimmed otherwise the beef tartar would killed the appetite. Overall, the atmosphere is great and the service was stunning. I do think, they have a lot to improve in their menu and their food. Thanks.

Top dish: special of the day - salmon sashimi. Bottom dish: braised beef tacos

TLDR: Great vibe, good food, and smooth drinks We tried making a reservation last minute but were unable to as they claimed to be booked. We took our chances and went there extremely early (7 pm) as walk-ins, and we were immediately seated. I was advised that if you want to make a reservation it is best to make one no later than the week before as it is an extremely popular joint. The place is massive, and the vibe is fantastic. It only got better as the night went on, but you can't go wrong choosing Kampai Gardens if you're looking for a memorable night. We ordered the two specials of the day, the salmon sashimi and beef tartare. As someone who doesn't enjoy fish, the sashimi was delicious. The beef tartare was a little messy and choppy, topped with a sweet soy sauce, and served with thin crostinis. It was light and enjoyable. The Kampai hotdog and the fried chicken were average. The sausage was dry and was topped with overly shrimpy kimchi. The fried chicken was simple and topped with maple syrup and dry daikon slaw. We also ordered the braised beef tacos, which I have been dreaming about since we ate it. The curry crepes and the juicy tender beef worked amazingly well, and we could have easily eaten 20 more. If you order one thing at Kampai gardens make sure it's the tacos. We ordered all three of the desserts and my favourite was definitely the lemon one. The decadent blondie like lemon cake cubes was tasty. The chocolate pot was uninspired. Those who enjoy tropical fruits would most likely find the passion fruit one to be a good fix. The pitchers tasted watered down but were well mixed. We were two girls who drank two 32 oz pitchers and walked out without even feeling tipsy. We got the Pikachu, which came with chillis and goji berries, and it was very sweet. The local legend is similar to sangria. With tax and tip the meal came out to ~$68, which is pretty fair for several dishes, two pitchers, and a fantastic vibe. I gave the place 4 stars because of the amazing tacos, good service, and wonderful atmosphere, and because I know I will most definitely be coming back. I would have much preferred a 3.5 stars option as the majority of the food and the drinks were quite underwhelming. Hopefully, the next time I go all the food will blow me away like the taco did.

I have dined in the evening at their St Denis branch and had a great experience and I'm happy to report the brunch was equally amazing. If you've ever dreamed of all you can eat AND drink (yes, all you can drink beer and mimosas), then Saint-Houblon is the place for you. Although this restaurant is more of a bar,the food quality and choices are truly refined. They source their own locally greenhouse grown veggies when possible and offer a range of elevated dishes with vibrant colors and combinations. With over 24 beers on tap and seasonal specials, this is the best place to try variety. For $30 a person (price can vary depending on season, it was $25 in January), you can choose an assortment of eggs (regular, benedict, scottish), sausage, bacon, creton, salmon rilette, chicken & waffles, pancakes, toast, bagels, garlic potatoes, quiche, beans etc with all you can drink beer (any on tap!) and mimosas. Similar to how you would order sushi at an asian restaurant, you are provided with a menu sheet for the group and just need to list how many of each item you want to order. You can keep on ordering as much as you like. For me the highlight were the eggs benedict, served over your choice of veggies or meat and resting on a sweet bun, the sauce was so flavorful and the pulled pork or brisket (not sure what it was) was melt in your mouth. If you want to get your money's worth, stay away from waffles or pancakes, they were extremely filling. Everything else is delish!! Fun to come as a group then you can really sample every item on the menu.

Unfortunately, our waiter messed up our order and brought us boneless wings instead of bone in. The chicken can definitely use some improvement by being seasoned throughout. The waiter was apologetic, but instead of apologizing, he should've wrote down what we ordered. Also the ginormous pieces of chicken were overwhelming. I wish they had more sauce. The batter should've been seasoned before dredging the chicken. Compliments to the chef on his frying technique. The chicken was still crunchy a day later. I thought it was a little odd that they brought out mozzarella sticks with a side of salsa. I guess they do things a little different in Canada. The sweet potato fries were good, but also they need more honey butter sauce. We've never had Sapporo and it was so refreshing. It paired extremely well with the chicken.
