Kamps (Superior Plus Propane) conducts dishonest business and will seek to charge you at every corner. I was charged $113 at move out for a "restock" fee, which involved someone reading a meter and documenting a percentage. I am confused by what warrants such a fee when no gas is being transported. I had previously had issues with unwanted and unauthorized fill ups. I'd recommend either other propane company in town, which will gladly, FOR FREE, remove your Kamps/Superior tank and replace it. Kamps came and delivered propane and my house wreaks of it because my windows were open. How do you come to someones house and not make your prescence known when there is multiple cars in the driveway. So they had to send the guy back out and his doo dad said there was a leak detected but from what I witnesses it looked like the leak was from the nut that hooks just below the open and close valve because he used a wrench to torque it 3 times and then his doo dad said no leak. I live in a mother and laws quarters and the propane runs ny sink and shower that is it and today they gave me 51 gallons at $191 and the last tine they were here was march at 38 gallones for $148 and before that was november 2024 71 gallons that math doesnt track for a single person who runs a sink for diahes and a shower read more

I have been with Kamps for 20 years but last year I received a random charge of over 700. on my bill which I questioned as it was not for a refill or anything normal. Their billing department was rude and did not adequately explain the charge. I went to my local office and asked them for an explanation they also couldn't explain it but assured me that they would look into it and get back to me. They never did and ignored my follow up messages. They are ripping you off! read more

Horrible customer service and they lie as well! I called two days ago to have propane started in my name due to moving to a new house that has their propane here. I called to check up on when I would be getting the propane unlocked due to having no way to cook, shower or have heat. They said well the new service department has not sent over the paperwork. So I hang up and call the new service department and they said they sent it when I called with someone to come ASAP on the paperwork. I asked well you guys told me within 24 hours you guys would be out here they then claimed they would never say that. They also claimed I needed to pay for all the propane and the meter even after I spoke to them and they ran our credit and told me that no deposit or anything as necessary. This place is an absolute joke! If you can go to JS West I have never in the 15 years of having propane had any issues like this. So now my children and I get to sit in a cold house, with no way to cook along with no shower because they tell me one thing and say another. HORRIBLE PLACE OF BUSINESS! read more

I have been using Kamps propane for a few years now. However I've decided to go elsewhere. When they come out to deliver, they never notify us. Since we are retired were home most of the time. They never notify us or leave a receipt showing how much fuel they delivered. Basically, I watch may tank level and it isn't matching up with what they say they delivered. The gate to the area with the tank is locked, the driver cut the lock off. When I requested to be notified when they would be out for delivery, I was told they don't do that. So I told them not to deliver from now on. I believe they have been ripping me off and don't want me to watch the meter on the delivery truck. read more

I have been a Kamps client for 8 years. I have a Twain Harte vacation home, I like other faced financial issues in 2010 and happen to bounce a check to them, ok my bad. I was placed on a will call status and automatically was assigned gas at the highest rate. Usually 3.50 a gallon. I use very little gas, 250 gallons will usually last two years at times. Every time the driver delivers he tells me that I'm getting ripped off at the price and why? Well, this year when I recently got my annual tank fee statement, I call the office to check gallon pricing and was told that all pay 3.46 per gallon now, the lady Leah was quite rude and accused my of cussing at her, never happened..... And my financial and credit status has changed dramatically... I'm fed up with this company! So next I call JS West to find that they have a regular Twain Harte rate of 2.50 and a first time tank fill of 1.50 per gal. I applied and was granted credit approval. New tank in today. Yesterday when I call to cancel my service with Kamps I was asked why are you canceling? I told my story and was told that only people in my situation pay the higher price.....my situation 5 years ago? I have never been called by them to ask if things are better. They must have enough business that they don't need to see if they can help their clients? So the moral of the story is????? if you are with Kamps and getting ripped off at 3.50 per gal? Call another company like JSWest and see if you are financially sound enough to change company's because they are obviously more excited about charging you more that seeing if your situation has changed....... read more

Wish I could give them zero stars. Moved to Sonora to be closer to family after divorce and a Lyme disease diagnosis. It was a struggle to find an affordable place while going through Lyme treatment. And, then when I did, two weeks into it, PGE shuts off our power for a few days for high winds that never arrived. That being said, I was told to call Kamps Propane by the landlords and to change over the propane into my name within three days of moving in. I called that day. When I called the office, the lady (Leanne) said she can't do anything without me coming down to the office and filling out the paperwork and putting up a $350 deposit. This was the first I had heard about needing a deposit - I didn't need a deposit for PGE, or Comcast, even after my credit was run, but this place requires a $350 deposit. But, I didn't argue. So, I go down the very next day and fill out the paperwork. There was a young red haired girl there running the office, and she must have been really busy or maybe this wasn't her normal job...because she said to fill out the paperwork and she'd run my credit to see if I needed to put a deposit down, it might be $150 or $250, and if I didn't hear back from her, it means no deposit was necessary. Awesome! So, that was Wednesday. She said the meter reader guy wouldn't even be able to check the meter until the next day, Thursday. Cool! The next week we had the power outage and I had to throw a bunch of food away. Since I hadn't heard from the Kamps people, I felt good- it being a week later -to buy groceries with the deposit money. My'bad. I get a call from Leanne at Kamps the very next day, exactly 7 days after dropping off the paperwork. In a very nasty tone she tells me if I don't get down to the office in the next day to fill out the paperwork and to give the $350 deposit, she will have no choice but to shut my propane off. Wtf!?!? I tell her I was at her office the very next day after she told me to go there and filled out the paperwork and was told they would run my credit and get back to me in a couple of days if they needed a deposit. She retorts back in a snotty voice that she doesn't have my paperwork, like I was lying to her. I told her I filled it out and gave it to a redhead who I think had a tattoo? She puts me on hold and after a few minutes comes back with a completely different tone of voice - "oh yes, you're paperwork is here but we still need you to come pay the $350 deposit"...! I am at a loss because I had obviously used it to buy food. Ok. So, I tell Leanne I was told I would be called within a few days if In fact I needed a deposit and it was a week since then. She had nothing to say to that except the paperwork wasn't on her desk. No apology for the mistake or her original tone or anything... I guess because my credit wasn't great, she felt ok or justified being nasty even if it was her mistake or that of her coworker. Fine. I was luckily able to get my daughter to use money she'd set aside for rent to help pay the deposit. But, what if I hadn't had the money? Would she shut my power off? Um, it would have been a completely different experience if 1) I had been talked to with respect and decency 2) she had apologized for her mistake 3) she had given options for payment of such a high deposit when people struggle as it is these days getting into housing. Threatening to shut off my power due to their mistake seemed heartless. My daughter and I went down to the office the next day... Leanne and the younger, red haired lady were both there this time. I immediately asked which one was Leanne... but, by then, I should have known by deduction...she was the angry looking one to the left. I let her in on my feelings and then, suddenly, Leanne apologized profusely because I was embarrassing her / calling her out in front of her co-worker. I also explained to her that being without power when she called added to the devastation her called added to my day, though she butted in before I could finish saying, "yes, the power outage has made us all very grumpy..." like I was apologizing for my behavior and she was using it as an excuse for her bad behavior, too. Wow. Ok. Unfortunately for me, the place I live has two other units and they're all on one propane tank, so I cannot just change my propane provider. But, you can bet your sweet patootie that I will be having a conversation with my landlords and let them know the terrible service I received and present them with possible other companies who I've found recently provide a MUCH cheaper rate than Kamps. I also read other reviews and looks Like Leanne/Leah have trouble with their customer service skills with other customers, as well. I worked for IBM in systems customer service support as a team lead and know what good customer service should look like. This is NOT it. read more

These guys are great. Ive been using them since 2004 and i live in Jamestown, Ca. I bought my preowned certified tank from them. Always courteous, professional and on time. The ladies in the front office are great and accommodating. The delivery guys are always helpfully and considerate. Recently i had a delivery but i was not able to get to my property in time to meet. Scott was in contact with me before delivery via cell phone. He waited for me and worked with me on options but then it became apparent that i would not make it. I told him where a had a key to open the gate and he then filled and locked everything back up. Best customer service. Price competitive , profession service, and easy billing. I switched to KAMPS years ago and man was I happy. I use JOHN OMALLEY for sales rep and he takes care of me. There prices are the best hands down!!! The service is great as well. I have a house i was selling in Sonora and to be able to process the sell i needed to have propane at the location but i was not living at the location. After reaching out to a few local Propane companies Kamps was able to do the install of a tank in a timely manor and allowed me to sell the property. the Customer service people were a great help and followed up with me.
