I had developed a sharp stabbing pain and in tears with excruciating pain. I asked for an appointment. Was put on hold, then the receptionist indicated I had an outstanding balance of $400 and Dr. Kanarek said unless I pay it, I could not be seen. I explained that I was in a lot of pain and could not afford to pay it all today. After seeing other doctors, including an oncologist, my condition was serious and surgery was needed. This doctor is greedy and the callous action speaks volumes. How absolutely cold and uncaring to turn away a patient for a measly amount of money. This is a testament of the terrible experience and says a lot about the poor level of customer care and concern received as a woman. It's a Shame!! Shame on this doctor and this practice! Like t$400 would make this doctor any richer. I would NEVER recommend this practice to any woman. We deserve the upmost care, compassion and TREATMENT and this is not the place where you will find it. read more

I love Dr. Kanarek, but the office staff members are just horrible! No follow up, no one picks up the phone, you can't get your test results after 4 weeks and was told I should get it within 2 weeks! Horrific!! read more

Dr. Jack Kanerak as a Doctor is intelligent and kind, with that being said.... Dr. Kanerak's office is absolutely absurd! You have a 12:00pm appointment, you sign in an 11:45am and they tell you it's going to be an extremely long wait. (This has happened COUNTLESS times!) Add in that the receptionists are zero help and turn the phones off for hours at a time, making it impossible to reach anyone in the office. There is no way you should ever have to wait more than 30 minutes and maybe the occasional hour because things have gotten backed up. There have been times where it's been up to 3 hour waits. Mind you a lot of the patients are PREGNANT! I warn you please find another office which is professional, courteous and doesn't have pregnant patients waiting around for hours. read more

In addition to having the most awful, condescending personality I've ever encountered in a doctor, Dr. Kanarek seems to either be completely unfamiliar with how insurance works or just thinks it's acceptable to perform services without verifying coverage and bill for them after the fact. I'm still getting bills in the mail for a "courtesy fee" for a circumcision he performed on my son right after he left the NICU. I was never informed that Dr. Kanarek doesn't participate with my son's insurance. LIJ is in the process of sorting this out on my behalf. It's called surprise billing and it's illegal. Dr. K even had my OB (who he covers for) tell me he'd make the charges go away if I just sent his practice a check for half. Dr. Kanarek also told me I had normal post c section swelling when I pointed out to him that I was much more swollen than normal. He signed off on my discharge from the hospital and I was readmitted the next day with fluid in my lungs and postpartum preeclampsia. Before my son was born, I was past my due date and he tried to scare me into letting him perform my c section (seems to be after that $) by saying me and my son were going to die if we waited until the next day, but there was no indication for an emergency c section. I told him I needed to go home and eat and rest for a few hours first but really I felt threatened and intimidated by him. I'm very glad I waited for my regular OB and did not consent to letting him perform my c section. read more

It is Feb 6, 7:23pm, this is my first review, I'm sitting here with my wife who has appointment at 6:30pm. There are 5 people ahead of her, so she probably won't be seen until 8:30pm. This is not the first time this happen, when she was pregnant every visit was a two hour wait! This is ridiculous, the doctor is very nice, but the wait times are awful! He takes on too many patients at once. My wife makes it to her appointments on time, there's no excuse for the two hour wait. We are in the process of looking for another doctor. I encourage everyone who's thinking of coming here, to go elsewhere, unless you want to wait two hours to be seen. read more

Dr. Kanarek is very nice, patient, professional and makes you feel comfortable. He is my OBGYN and he delivered my baby. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor! I am blessed that he and his wonderful staff were there for me. Highly recommend these guys! read more

Where do I start? I've been going to this office for many years. I must say over the past few years the office became horrendous! I've delivered 3 babies with them. Here are some issues I find with Dr. Kanarek office. 1 If you ever try calling their emergency# during pregnancy you will NEVER have any of them return the call. Instead some other doctor who is affiliated with them that doesn't even know you may or may NOT return the call & their office answering service sucks big time! 2 Their billing department decided to charge my CC without my knowledge while trying to work out the issue with the insurance company. (there is a whole story behind it, but bottom line is that no one should be charging your CC without first calling you) 3 The office failed to submit all my blood work to the hospital so during delivery I had to take the tests AGAIN! Talk about delivery, non of the docs every come to deliver your baby unless incidentally its their shift and you are there in labor, otherwise they wouldn't even know you are in labor because the emergency service doesn't notify them, they notify only the docs on call that day 4.Once I waited 2 1/2 hours during an emergency office visit 5.They didn't give me rhogam shots on time, with my last baby they didn't even give me the shot after I delivered & no explanation was given 6 most of their staff is very rude 7. The office messed up my medical file few times. 8. If you have any concerns or questions during your pregnancy the docs response always "don't worry it's normal" -- this just doesn't cut it for me because I need detailed answers to stupid questions as I'm a concerned pregnant women. 9 When they send you for blood work they never get back to you regarding the results whether its positive or negative unless you remember to ask them during your check up visits and on that note, the doc himself doesn't always returns calls himself, he asks his receptionists to do the work for him. 10 their office looks sooo old and nasty, the office needs serious renovation. 11. The parking in the area is so bad, I would have to leave my house an hour before my appointment just so I can find parking and coming to my appointment on time, and even so I would come late because of it. 12. I failed to mention that my 2nd pregnancy was an emergency c-section, and whoever sees the scar is shocked by how long and ugly it looks. The c-section was done by Dr. Charnes. (she happened to be on her shift that day). Bottom line ladies, find yourself a better office and doc because this one seems to only care about the money they get out of the insurance and not so much for their patients. I'm done with this place. I don't know why I stuck around their office for such a long time. read more
