Went for taco Tuesday, tacos were good, chips and salsa very good, service was exceptional. Luv the 3 TVs in the bar area.

I met a friend here during an early workweek evening. This was my second time eating here. While waiting for his arrival, I ordered a small guacamole dip. It was freshly made, and tasted quite delicious. I liked that the dip was served within a cup-shaped tortilla shell that I found to be completely edible. I liked the peppy atmosphere, but unlike the weekend, it wasn't not too terribly loud, which I appreciated. This restaurant could be characterized as TexMex Plus. We received great service from our very patient and polite waiter, Antonio. There were a great deal of choices available on the food menu. I quite enjoyed my cheese and onion enchilada dinner. I substituted the cheese sauce for some delicious verde sauce. My sides included rice and beans. My friend had the Big Burrito, ordering steak within it. The serving was so huge, that he took half of it home with him! The prices were quite reasonable, and I believe that part of the affordability factor was that successful restaurants in Jonesboro find it wise to keep things in line with college students' budgets. Unfortunately, this restaurant offered zero nonalcoholic beers, so I opted to drink water. My friend seemed to enjoy his pair of frozen margaritas, despite the hilarious brain freeze that he inflicted upon himself by slurping them too quickly. The flan that I had for dessert tasted fresh and creamy. Parking was easy and ample. I think that I would probably return here again, especially during the work week. read more

Kandela was our Mexican spot of choice for about a year and it is usually pretty good. The last time I ate here I was given an egregious portion of ranchero special, that, I can only assume was left out or old. It made both me and my fiancée sick for about a week. read more

Came here with my parents, as they said it was the best Mexican dig in all of Jonesboro! They nailed it. Food was great and plentiful. I couldn't believe how fresh the food tasted and how attentive our server was! I don't frequent Jonesboro often, but I'm Glad I know where the best Mexican food in town can be found. I will be back. The Food was amazing really really good and we were seated quickly but the one thing that got it only two stars is that when we were seated there was five of us and they handed out menus to everyone but my black friend and when I asked for him a menu they made a jokeing and said not for you before taking like 5 whole minutes to actually get around to bringing him one and then he ordered two tacos and we all ordered fajitas and other way bigger things yet they brought his like several minutes later then they brought our out and also refilled everyone else's drinks many times and only came to him to take away his empty plate now Im not one of these people who think everything is racist or that everyone is being racist but the way my friend was treated in there was obviously based on his having been black and I will not be going back due to this read more

We were seated relatively fast. There was a live Dj that was so loud we couldn't even have a conversation, there was music being played that was vulgar and filled with profanity. We didn't have our children but there were several in the restaurant. Not a family friendly environment at all. My husband's food was lukewarm at best. When we were ready to go we asked for a box never got it never got our ticket to pay because our waiter was up doing a line dance after waiting several minutes we just got up to pay and had to wait still because our waiter was still busy dancing. Okay, four stars. Here's the low down. Went here for a friend's son's birthday party. We had a party of nine. I'd been here before but this was the first time as a Yelpper. So here we go. I ordered, to start, the chori dip. The dip came out piping hot and it was absolutely terrific. It's a queso with chorizo mixed it. Pretty simple, really, but it's great. I would recommend skipping the normal queso, which is typical Tex-Mex run-of-the-mill queso. Just get this stuff and be happy. For my entree I ordered the chori burrito (I was in the mood for chorizo). It was pretty good. It's a meat mixture of chorizo, chicken, and beef, wrapped in a tortilla and covered in queso. Not bad. Not bad at all. It came with Spanish rice which was a pretty typical "nothing to call home about" rice. But it's pretty decent. So, now I'd like to stop and talk about why a five star meal gets a four star rating. Service. It's been mentioned in several other reviews and it's gonna get mentioned here. I ordered water. When I have water at a restaurant I'm gonna need about seven refills. Not even exaggerating when I say that. I got one. The server was simply not present. When he did show up I'd ask for more water. He wouldn't bring it. I went as far as to ask for it in Spanish (maybe it was lost in translation?). Nope, still no water. Ended up asking another server and finally got my water when we were paying out. If you love Tex-Mex this is a good place as far as food goes. It's not amazing or anything original. The food was pretty good but I wasn't able to finish after what I witnessed. Think again before pardoning this restaurant!! EMPLOYEES DO NOT WASH THEIR HANDS AFTER TAKING A DUMP!!!!! AND NO ONE CARES. While I was in the finishing up in the restroom, washing my hands as you should do, an employee came out of a stall and proceeded to walk straight out WITHOUT washing his hands. I asked him if he was going to wash his hands and he said no then proceeded to walk back to the kitchen. I asked to speak with a manager and was told the manager wasn't in. I made the 2 employees aware that their coworker had not washed his hands and walked back into the kitchen. The 2 employees I spoke with acted as if it was not a big deal and told me he was just a dish washer. I don't care what his job is. ALL EMPLOYEES must wash their hands after taking a dump! well where do I start, the fountain drinks are set to be mostly carbonated water so much so that I thought she brought me a soapy filled glass that she didn't check. asked for another glass and coke and it was just as bad then my mom tried it and was like oh gosh that's awful, their mixture on the soda fountain is set to only color the water enough to sale it and hope no one notices. then me and my sister both got food we had already had previously back around January, and when we get our food it's missing the ingredients that's listed on the menu, only containing the main components but leaving the extras out like beans or sour cream that I already had to order as an extra on it. we don't complain or say anything about any of this. well we get to the parking lot and my mom had left her sun glasses on the table and by the time she went back in to get them they had already been "thrown away" and the girl who had literally handed my mom a to go pack of eating utensils as we walked out looks at her and ask what day was you here yesterday? In the area for work and this place was a recommendation from hotel staff. Nice place, clean, well staffed. Started with complimentary chips and salsa, typical, but good. Tried the chori dip, phenomenal. The Kandela Steak Burrito is boring and the bits of steak a little charred and chewy. I will come back but will try something different. For having so many staff members standing around chatting with each other, wasn't checked on until I was pushing my plate back. The food is just okay and I'm on the hunt for better Mexican food here. I hate writing such a negative review but we just haven't had a good experience here. The salsa is bland and needs some extra herbs and spices. The fajitas are also on the bland side but the table has a shaker of a chili salt mixture so I guess you season it yourself? On tonight (December 12, 2017), I received the worst service possible at this restaurant. Miguel (our server) was very inattentive and appeared to have some sort of attitude. Upon getting our seat, it was approximately 20 minutes or so before he came back to take our order. After our order was taken, Miguel snatched the menu out of my hand in a very aggressive manner. After this, I spoke with the manager (Manuel) and it didn't seem like he was willing to correct the issue. The issues continued. One of the guests in my dinner party did not receive part of their order until she spoke with the manager. Our drink orders were never replenished unless we got the manager to do so. We were never asked if we were satisfied with the food or anything. I STRONGLY advise you NOT to eat at this restaurant. Loved this place! Fabulous service. Amazing food. The best martini (blue raspberry) that this foodie had ever tasted. The atmosphere is open concept meets modernism. There are televisions for the men to watch their sports as they eat and a tortilla bar. The homemade salsa and chips are just delicious. With the chips being light and airy. My husband and I demolished the Kandela cheese dip with beef and homemade salsa mixed in. This appetizer could be a meal on its own! The prices are very reasonable and the wait is not long at all. We were able to be seated within 5 minutes. All of the staff were quite courteous. And the restaurant over all was impeccably clean. read more

PLEASE READ. When I first walked in, the host/waiter didn't welcome us or anything. He asked "how old are you two?" I was with my friend. She replied, 18. And I told them I was 17. He smiled and shook his head in disappointment. Later I then ordered, while saying my order he was staring at my boobs (which were barely showing at all) and wouldn't make eye contact with me. I was disgusted. Later, he took my drink and then I asked my friend if she wanted more to drink. She said yes, and he then asked her to take her straw out of the drink. What is weird is he took my drink with the straw! Maybe that's just an accident, but with everything else that happened it did not feel right. I felt so uncomfortable and I will never be going there again. I was wearing jeans and a full length t shirt.
