It was bad enough I had to cut back on dog walks (out Doodle was not happy with this). Reviewing the medical literature I found out there was a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of my condition. After multiple phone calls to clinics offering dermal fillers (mostly for cosmetic procedures) I found the practice of Dr. Anna Sylwestrowicz, MD . The office was very accommodating with my unique inquiry and agreed to meet with me just to discuss my diagnosis and treatment plan. One of the most vital requirements for a good medical outcome is a solid 'Doctor-Patient' relationship that starts with an open and frank discussion. I found my conversation with Dr. Anna (as she prefers to be addressed) to be all a patient could ask for. We jointly came up with a plan, discussed the various dermal fillers on the market, her experience with their use, possible outcomes and hoped for outcomes. I agreed to the procedure. Three weeks before the start of my hike, Dr. Anna injected my left heel pad with dermal filler. The procedure itself was tolerable and I walk out of the office with an order to 'take it easy' with my walking. For the first 5-6 days I was sore at the injection site but that was too be expected. After a week, I restarted my daily dog walks (much to the pleasure of our Doodle) and gradually increased my mileage. On April 23rd, 2026 I found my self hiking south on the Appalachian Trail from the small village of Damascus, Virginia. I was planned on keeping my daily mileage under 20km while carrying 15kg of pack. At that point, my heel was pain free. I hiked for a month pain free. I ended this section of the Trail in the very tourist town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This was a distance of 400km-pain free! Considering the pain, I was in prior to the injection of dermal filler this was a remarkable medical outcome. I am very, very pleased. As for the future, there are 333km left for me to complete. I will be back to the Trail in September for finish that section. Thank you to Dr. Anna and her staff in joining me on this journey!

Making the appointment through Vagaro was easy, walked me through a thorough intake form, and allowed me to choose my esthetician. I went with Allegra who was a darling from the minute I stepped into Dermaspace. Any worries or fears quickly drifted off given the dim lighting, chill music and zen ambiance. Allegra had a sweet personality, explained the entire process from start to finish, was knowledgeable about anything related to skincare and health, and most importantly, gentle. The facial was around an hour and fifteen minutes, including a discussion of my skin concerns, allergies, goals, etc. It consisted of roughly four total steps: 1) Gentle facial cleansing and exfoliation 2) Moisturization and detoxification using yucca soaked cloth within a volcanic heated cone 3) Deep cleaning of my entire face, clearing out any and all clogged pores 4) Ionization facial wrap of nourishing cotton with a leather mask connected to low voltage electrical current in order to ionize the solution. Afterwards, my face felt completely refreshed and as if years were taken off. There is a reason it has won the best facial in Seattle/PNW for many years--the treatment is truly results driven and very effective. I plan to be back soon.

The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I've been seeing Jody Leon, the owner, for 10 years. I've also had facials with Trevor who is also fantastic. Everyone is welcome and no one is made to feel out of place. I can't recommend this place enough. The other big plus, is you walk out looking amazing with a glow. You can go from your facial to the rest of your day without looking like you just had a facial. I can't wait for my next appointment.

(besides, that would be a waste of shoe polish) I was walking down the street on a grey day in a sad mood and saw a sign that said "Free Spirit". Since I felt lIke Imprisoned Meatmush, it seemed worth a trip inside. I stepped into their cozy little store and learned that they make most of their bodycare products.from locally grown flowers and herbs. And the most enchanting samples were their essential oils. When I found out they offered massages and facials, I signed up to have my meatmush slathered in lavender. I might still feel bad, but I was going to smell GOOD. All Over. I decided on a lavender facial and an essential oil massage. My sad cadaver perked up a bit, it's tattered chest heaved a tiny bit of herb infused hope. I walked down two doors to their little downstairs spa. My lovely massage therapist used many skintastic elixirs, but my fave was the organic Lavender oil made from lavender grown right there in Victoria, B.C. Herbs from different areas really do have different characteristics. This oil smelled like a gorgeous soft fragrant meadow on a sunny day in the spring. Like purple trees in May. Since it was actually a drizzly grey cooooohhhld day in February this was some purple spell she cast. You can order the oils online http://www.freespiritbotanicals.com/ and while they don't send the lovely spa girl, the scents will make you very sniffable and rub-worthy. you know like every street might could be be JOHNSON Street. !

Sit back, gentle reader, and let me explain: --friendly, engaging staff --beautiful design throughput --thoughtful attention to detail (salt scrub!!!!) --lots of choices for soaking, relaxing or sauna-ing --complimentary tea that was delicious --lush towels and robes --beautiful, minimal gardens--the hummingbirds liked it in early June --lots of staff care-taking the facilities --pretty library / lounge / cafe on the main level I'm glad I had an 8 am appointment--it was quiet and peaceful. An hour into my appointment, the noise level picked up, even in the "soft voices" areas. The silent sauna remained silent, which I appreciated. I get why groups of people want to talk so they can all hear and engage in the conversation, but the staff didn't remind them of low noise levels (at least not that I could discern). I wonder if the staff know how to compassionately hold that boundary. If not, such boundaries don't work (and they didn't hold as more people joined the space). It was fairly easy finding quiet pockets on the deck but even the "shelter" zone couldn't mute the "f-me!" Shout from the man who submerged himself into the cold tub. Pity. I'll go back and strive for an early time again--that first hour was amazing when it was quiet and subdued. More of that, please.

This repurposed 1940s barge is permanently moored in the inner harbor so you get amazing views of the seaplanes taking off and landing as you relax on the top deck. The bottom deck is has the relaxation lounge where you can relax on big comfy couches, drink some tea or snack and take in the views from the huge harbor facing window. Two of the dry saunas are designated to be completely silent which I prefer. It is coed so bring your swim wear and some flip flops or slides. No phones are allowed on the top deck so no cool photos of the actual relaxation top deck area! Each session runs 3 hours which is just enough time to get in a couple of good sauna and cold plunge contrast therapy runs. Great place to de-stress!
