We had a 2-hr massage (hot oil) which was incredible and put me to sleep. Their traditional Thai massage is great too! A delightfully cozy place, the ladies and the massages are wonderful. My friend and I read about this place, we didn't know anything about Thai massage but wanted to try it. The stretching they do loosens up muscles that traditional Western style massage has never had an effect on for me. They give you very comfortable cotton shirt and pants to wear for the massage, it was really nice to not have the awkward decision about what to take off or leave on. I actually give this business 6 stars! Amazing! It's in Victoria's Chinatown. It's easy to find. You will ring the doorbell and someone will buzz you in. It's best to call in advance to have an appointment. Once you go inside there is a steep stair climb and to your left someone will open the door and welcome you. Tuktuk was the one who took care of me. They'll wash your feet with cool water in a wooden basin brought to where I was sitting. This is very relaxing. Then you'll be asked to change to comfortable clothing in the room. The bed is on the floor. I opted for a thai massage which is deep tissue massage, just the way I like it. My back was so stiff because of stress it just all melted away. My right shoulder has been hurting for a long time and what a relief this has been. By the time I was done I feel so lose and mobile. I went to see what Rung's version of "Thai massage" is like, and was given into the hands of "Tip Tip". After a delayed start (ring the bell when you arrive), the experience was amazing and top-notch. I really like the stretching and pulling part of traditional Thai massage, and wow did Tip Tip know how to make me cry (almost/half kidding...it was what i wanted). Along with her open and extroverted and delightfully feminine personality it was an experience I look forward to having again. The ginger tea afterward was a nice touch as well, as was the foot bath before. If anything i would suggest a slightly higher temperature in the room to encourage a more sleepy state during the massage - i always love dosing off during a massage. Also the volume of the tranquil background music could be slightly higher. It was beautiful but a little hard to hear. read more

I've been to Victoria a lot and was looking for some new stuff to do. I stumbled across this on yelp and was amazed to find all 5 star reviews. I love massages and am always curious about different types. I've had very minimal experience with Thai massage, but knew a little about what to expect. Prices seemed reasonable and I was able to book via email which is convenient since I don't have international calling and there is no book online option. This place is located right in Chinatown on the main road, with a buzzer outside and up a flight of stairs. The house like setting is comfortable and the experience starts with a warm foot soak. The website instructs to wear comfortable loose clothing, but we discovered that they do have a large pair of baggy pants and shirts for you to wear. We did a couple's massage and had mats side by side on the floor. The massage was very unique, I enjoy a strong pressure so it may not be for everyone but they did ask repeatedly if the massage was okay. It's kind of fun to be bent into unusual positions and I do think some kinks in my body were removed. My boyfriend who is more sensitive than I am did complain of a little bit of next day soreness. Afterwards you can receive some very gingery tea which is also delicious. This place seemed very busy and people were calling to set up appointments the entire time we were there. OMG my husband and I literally just stumbled out of Rung's in a blissful haze. We are no strangers to massage, we have probably have had more than 100 in a lifetime. We have even had Thai massages in Thailand that were not this good. Rung's sits in the top 2-3 of all massages. At first we signed up for 60 minutes and decided to make it 90 and we're so glad we did. The Thai massage was so good because they worked out every kink, ache, and pain in our bodies. Through a series of pressure points that they were able to work out stubborn knots that I felt I was going to just live with for the rest of my life. My one tip is do not plan on doing much of anything after the massage because you feel so rested and relaxed, the only thing that seems in order is a nap! Literally the only thing we could discuss at dinner was the different stretches and areas they were able to unlock and loosen.. I had Kasan and C had a male masseuse Kasan- the first 10-20 minutes was a bit light touch, but I guess she was just warming me up because the second half of the massage was just amazing. I went through times of excruciating pain, to blissful relaxation. She really worked to get my knots out and actually concentrated on my problem areas. This place is fabulous, professional treatment for improved flexibility and getting rid of aches and pains. I had spent 3 weeks in Nepal; meaning a 40 hour flight getting there, hiking in steep terrain, and returning with a 26 hour flight. Everything hurt from my feet, my back and my shoulders. My wife and I went there yesterday on our honeymoon to get a couples' massage. Pat and Rung took great care of us and made the experience fun. We are pretty sore the next day, but that's to be expected. We both felt like they did a great job at finding our problem areas and focusing on what needed attention. The only comment we would make is that Rung needed to answer the phone a couple times during my wife's massage, but that is understandable for a small business like this. We definitely recommend them and would likely come back if we're able next time we visit Victoria. The massages were better than what we've experienced in Seattle, but this was our first experience with the Thai style massage. Yes this place is LEGIT. My husband and I initially went then I returned a couple days later on my own for a 90 minute. It is located on the 2nd floor and you have to buzz in to access the stairs. This was truly amazing and the two sweet masseuses who massaged us have been doing Thai massages for over 30 years. The couples room was great, very relaxing and clean! The masseuses talked to each other doing a massage but I think that's a part of it and they definitely do that in Thailand too! This weekend my wife and I went to Victoria BC for a Soccer Tournament. While walking thru China town we found this place. I was reluctant to go in and my wife said you should try it. When we got back to the hotel I called and made an appointment. I got there and my first impression was it's so clean and the staff greeted me and I felt so comfortable. My therapist ended up being Rung herself and I felt so lucky to have such an experienced therapist. She was able to loosen my tight muscles and I felt so relaxed and good after walking out, I thought after tomorrow's game I am coming back. I ended up scheduling 2 other massages after each game. This was such a positive experience for me. I'm 70 years old and in pretty good shape but after 4 soccer games, I was sore. So to go from in muscle pain to blissful relaxation and still have enough energy to shop with my wife after was amazing. Wow. My hubby and I booked a 2hr Thai massage at Rung's today. They were able to accommodate us with our last minute plea for bodywork which was great! Poong worked on me and my hubby had Thong Sri work on him. We HIGHLY recommend them! Everyone there is very sweet, friendly, and have fantastic smiles. The massages were fabulous and the women are very strong. They always checked in to make sure we were comfortable, too. We were staying on Government Street so it was just a couple blocks from us. This is way overdue but I am finally getting to it! The short of it is: Rung Thai is absolutely amazing! Book them now!! Like no hesitation, you will be so happy! The long of it: My boyfriend and I traveled from the states to Victoria, BC in late June of this year for our 1st vacation together in years. On our way across the Pacific, after being delayed unexpectedly and having to rearrange our activities for Victoria, we were a little stressed. I looked up places to get a great massage that same day. Neither of us had ever tried Thai style massage and we were not certain if we would enjoy it....however, the rates quoted by phone were very reasonable, the reviews I found were positive, and they could fit us in. As we were exploring Chinatown and Fan Tan Alley, we wound up walking past Rung Thai's folding sign. Easy to miss; the staircase leading to the apartment-converted-to-a-business is behind a barred door near the street. The owner buzzed us up after having a brief interaction via intercom confirming our pre-scheduled appointment. When we reached the top of the stairs, a door led us into Rung's and we were warmly welcomed with a quick orange peel foot bath and a change of clothes. I kid you not, my boyfriend has since bought 3 pairs of these loose fitting Thai pants off the internet as he felt so relaxed in them. Though not as hot as TX, it was still fairly warm in Victoria, especially since we had been walking around most of the day after our clipper trip across the ocean. As soon as they ushered us into the massage room, I noticed they had a portable ac/ unit going at full blast. It was awesome. Second thing of note, they are compassionate. My back goes out from time to time, and lying down on a flat, only slightly cushioned mat made me nervous. But when I mentioned it to my massage therapist, she placed a pillow underneath my knees ensuring my back didn't spasm/lock up. She was also incredibly intuitive and caring throughout the session. She also checked in with me about pressure just the right amount of times. Thai massage is different from other forms of massage as they do all the usual pressure work but also literally gently maneuver your body into yoga poses and stretches. Things that I find hard to do myself. When the massage finished, I looked at my boyfriend and said very groggily "What have we been doing with our lives??? How did we not know about this before? Can we do this again tomorrow?" Upon exiting the massage room, the ladies were just as kind and provided us with our choice of hot ginger tea or water with fruit. We thanked them and chatted with Rung for a bit. She has been in business for quite some time. She really has created a calming little oasis with wonderful staff. And the kicker, the whole thing was extremely affordable, even after tipping. I swear to god it was the best massage I have ever had. Godspeed weary travelers! read more
