After my previous tax preparer refused to take responsibility for and amend the numerous mistakes he made on my 2018 taxes, I found myself in the position of searching for a new person. I had to pay someone else to undo the mess he made and I was furious. I was receiving letters from the IRS that I didn't understand. I was told by a CPA that I didn't actually need a CPA to amend and prepare my returns, but instead I should look for an Enrolled Agent. Since Karen Fuller was local, I thought I would give her a try. She was very empathetic to my situation and quoted me a very reasonable rate to proceed. I was very impressed at how thorough Karen was and her patience in explaining everything to me. Thanks to Karen's expertise, I was able to amend my 2018 taxes and am looking forward to receiving a substantial refund. For my 2019 taxes, she explained things line by line. Her goal was to not only prepare my taxes, but to have me understand them as well. read more

May 11, 2020 Locally: The Georgia Department of Revenue is automatically extending the 2019 income tax filing and payment deadline to July 15, 2020 without penalties or interest. This includes state estimated income tax payments due on April 15, 2020, for the taxpayer’s 2020 taxable year are due by July 15 2020. No extension is provided for the filing, payment, or deposit of any other type of state tax (including employee withholding and sales tax) or for filing of any state information returns. GA Dept of Rev # 404-417-6700 M-F Federally: The IRS has specifically cited the temporary suspension of the following services as a result of taking precautionary measures against COVID-19: No Live phone support No Processing paper correspondence No Taxpayer Assistance Centers No Distribution of paper forms No IVES Income Verification Services Request Processing In addition to urging taxpayers to use electronic resources to file a tax return, the IRS suggested using online tools for other tax-related services, like requesting a transcript, paying tax owed, and checking the status of a tax refund.
