The park is huge and well served by public transport - the tram stops at the base and there is a funicular that takes you to the top using metro tickets/passes. Once in the park there are innumerable walking & hiking trails, places for children to play, lawns to sunbathe on, a botanical garden and an observation tower. The tower can be climbed for small fee and kind of looks like the Soviet version of the Eiffel Tower. My favorite part is in the "center" of the park - midway up the hill or at the 1st funicular stop, there is charming cafe. You can buy snacks and drinks and sit on the terrace overlooking the river and the city. We stopped in late afternoon and enjoyed the setting sun with a (very, very good!) $8 bottle of Bohemian Sekt or champagne. It was so romantic that we came back our last day to bid farewell to a majical city. If you're in Prague, a visit to this park should be on your list.

I'm so glad we each spent the reduced entrance rate of 70kc. Beware: LOTS of steps. But also: SO worth it. The views are astounding and a bit different than you'd get if you looked down from Prague Castle. Lots of photo ops. We visited in the fall and the grounds were well-kept and gorgeous. I bet they look even nicer now in the spring. If only I could hop a plane back over to see them firsthand. Come here if you're looking for a cool city perspective from the comfort of lush gardens.

Peace Square! This is such a wonderful public plaza! I came…read morehere for the Christmas Market, which was a lot different from other Christmas Markets I've been to around Prague! This was a place for the locals. There were a few tourists up in here, but for the main part, the locals were the ones hanging out. That meant for the Market, the prices were generally cheaper, and there was a different style of merchandise that isn't all magnets of pictures of the city and the usual stuff. In the center of the plaza, they had a giant Christmas tree in the middle of the area, with lights festooned from the top to the perimeter of the plaza. Around the tree were various booths of vendors set up in wooden huts selling stuff. The church at one end of the plaza was strikingly beautiful. They let me in to the front area of the church, but the main part was closed when I went. This place is easy to get to, there's a metro station right across the way.

There's a long pool, now empty and full of graffiti, and looks too damaged to hold water again. However, there are some nice metal sculptures of local goddesses or heroines, which are nice. It's a long and narrow park, with walkways throughout. Stay outta the grass, because there were dog turds everywhere when I went. Some of the park benches looked to be out of repair, and were covered in graffiti as well. I didn't see any picnic tables. There seemed to be plenty of parking alongside the perimeter sidewalk.

There are a few uphills that you have to do but nothing terrible. The bikes are mountain bikes, which I think is needed for the cobblestone streets. You learn a fair amount about the city and history. The 2 1/2 hours went by fast and I would definitely recommend it!!

I did 2 two self guided rides for a total of 100 miles (160k) that were just gorgeous! Prague country side is really set up for biking with clearly marked routes and trails. And since everyone seems to bike themselves, car drivers were very patient and respectful of bicycles on the few times I was using the same tarmac. Both my routes spent a lot of time on the river so it was really worth the effort to get up early and enjoy glistening sunshine on the water. The staff is welcoming and the studio is clean/modern. More importantly, I could feel the love and kindness from the yoga community she's created during my short visit there.
