She made my transition into a first time dog owner such a positive experience and more importantly set a solid foundation for my pup to grow up to be a well behaved, happy dog. Kat was very knowledgable and walked me through every question that I had. We learned basic commands (sit, stay, leave it, come, bed, down), potty training, crate and playpen training, leash training, and so much more in just a few sessions. We had a great experience with Kathryn and Kelsey of Karma Dog Training. After doing my research, my fiancé and I decided to go with Karma Dog Training for our puppy Leo based on the reviews. Leo is a goldendoodle and started puppy kindergarten around 12 weeks. He caught on to the lessons very quickly and we really enjoyed the format of the class with play time since he needed the socialization with other pups. He was timid and shy in the beginning and didn't really care to interact with any of the dogs but after a few weeks, he was the life of the party--the fluffiest and probably still the clumsiest but he loves doing his tricks and playing with other dogs. We will continue working with Karma Dog Training in hopes of him becoming a canine good citizen. Another note: I really appreciated the precaution they made with keeping the facility clean and having everyone disinfect their shoes before stepping into the area. I was so, so scared to bring my 9 week old puppy, Stella, to class, against our breeder's recommendation of 16 weeks/fully vaccinated. But I really wanted to get Stella socialized as early as possible. I reached out to Kat and she was extremely helpful and supportive, sending me lots of information about the benefits of early socialization, and papers about the very low risk of a puppy contracting something in a sterilized environment. Kat did a great job putting my worries at ease and assured me the facilities are very clean-- sterilized each class, so I went ahead and signed Stella up! I am so glad I signed Stella up when I did! She was chasing and nipping at other puppies the first day, but each class I felt like she was a completely different dog! Stella is very mellow around other dogs now that she is socialized and I was able to learn the most efficient way to train her. Kat, Kelsey and Shelby were attentive, patient, amazing trainers. And it's obvious they love what they do. They covered all of the basics, which I thought I knew, having done puppy classes with our family dogs growing up, but to my surprise, there are much better ways to train a puppy. I left class each Sunday feeling I had learned the most effective way to train Stella. While Stella learned 8 valuable commands, she also learned the invaluable lesson of early puppy socialization. Karma Puppy Class was so much fun and while we're a little sad it's over, we will be continuing on with basic obedience! About a 6 weeks ago, I brought home my baby Bentley - a cocker spaniel. As he is my first puppy (on my own), I did lots of research before bringing him home on where I was going to do training with him. After speaking with Jeff, the owner, I felt very comfortable and excited that Karma was the best choice - and most knowledgeable especially about my breed! We had an in-home private training with Kat - who might I say is unbelievably talented in her craft - and from the start she got a very mellow and tired Bentley to be excited and following instructions! Enter Puppy Kindergarten.. Bentley knows now that every Sunday, we go to what he probably thinks is "play time", Kat leads the class and is so great at remembering each puppy's individual qualities, and also so great at connecting individually with owners so that we feel like we're progressing too! Bentley is a smart pup, but he loves to chew toes and plants -- Kat has been so responsive both in class and via email when I've reached out, it really puts me at ease. I've moved a couple times throughout the span of our 8 week class as well, and having the tools to be able to reteach him has been so great and taken away so much stress that I have had. I am sad that our time at Karma is almost coming to an end, but am happy looking back on how much both Bentley and I have learned over the course of just a short 8 weeks! A short 6 weeks ago, my family and I added a new family member to our brood - an adorable (we think she is at least) Shiba Inu named Momo. We did A LOT of research before making the commitment, and everything we read, every owner we spoke with, every friend who had one said the exact same few things: socialize them early, keep them socialized, and for your sanity, get them in puppy training classes STAT. Shibas are notoriously smart, stubborn, and wily. As with the choice of dog, we researched a number of training classes and companies, and it came down to two, one of which was Karma Dog. I called and spoke with Jeff, and was so impressed with his calm demeanor and depth of knowledge, I was won over. Luckily, KD was starting a Puppy Kindergarten class series very close to where we live, so after much discussion, we decided to attend a class. Enter the Karma Dog Training Team. Kat, Ashley and Kelsey are all relentlessly positive and very calm, which we need with our stubborn little lady sometimes. They easily work with our class of up to 10 dogs, and they all get a kick out of the pups' antics. Kat typically leads the class, and she does an amazing job. I've watched her calm a very excited husky and get her to stay in place right after puppy playtime, which is really tough because all of the dogs are still wound up from chasing each other. She has a wonderful touch with all of the breeds thrown at her. Ashley and Kelsey never fail to have wise input when we have questions, and they are wonderful with our girl. Oh, and our daughter is the one who is doing most of the work in the class. She is the only pre-teen there, and they're just as patient with her as they are with our pup. They encourage all of the family members who interact with the dogs to attend. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. I enrolled in the Puppy Kindergarten class (8 weeks) with my Siberian Husky Luna and there has been a significant improvement in her behavior. The biggest benefit to the Puppy Kindergarten class is being able to socialize your puppy early on to prevent adulthood social issues in a controlled environment with amazing trainers (Kathryn and Kelsey et al.). The trainers have helped me to work with Luna's personality and "tame" her over-excitement when playing with other dogs and puppies. My husband and I knew that training would be a crucial component to a well behaved boxer. There are many options out there, but Karma Dog Training with Kathryn and Kelsey felt like the very best for Jax. My husband and I both feel that positive reinforcement is the best method. We enrolled Daisy, our first puppy (husky), in Karma Dog Training kindergarten class 4 days after we got her, at which point she was just over 7 weeks old. Since she hadn't completed her entire round(s) of vaccinations and couldn't be around most dogs or dog-visited areas, these classes were critical in her early-stage socialization with people and other dogs in a safe and controlled environment. We lived approximately 35-45 minutes away, which also gave Daisy an excellent opportunity to learn how to be a good passenger riding in a vehicle for extended periods of time. The drive was definitely worth it. Kat, the instructor, is a patient, kind, knowledgeable, clear, concise, and efficient trainer with dogs AND humans. The other staff members helping out were also very kind and patient. Kat introduced us to ways of luring our puppy into all of the basic obedience actions needed for life: sit, lay down, stay, come, walk nicely on a leash, leave it, get in your bed, and more. There are also several "puppy play time" breaks throughout the training session to give everyone a chance to reset, relax, enjoy each others' company, and socialize in a controlled manner. Karma offers a wealth of information in the form of online access to literature, videos, etc. in an extremely user-friendly format in addition to guidance from the instructors at any time. I recently adopted a pit bull puppy and I was determined to do everything I could to raise him to be the friendliest and most well-behaved dog to ever exist. I did a great deal of research and specifically sought out positive training methods rather than corrective, negative reinforcement. Karma Dog was everything I was looking for. "Chuy" could get some socialization and I could start shaping his behaviors and bond with him doing our "homework" training practice. Chuy started puppy kindergarten class timid and hiding. He's now a confident youngster. I saw this happen with every puppy that came in timid, by week two they were right in the mix playing and racing around - it was beautiful to see. The generous amount of time allotted for off-leash puppy play time is both unique and integral to a well-socialized dog. I have been a dog mom since 1995 and I have gone to dozens of puppy classes and dog trainers; this is the first time I have been able to have a puppy meet and play with other puppies in a safe, enclosed environment. Chuy graduated with experience in adjusting the intensity of his greeting and play based on the reaction of the other dog. He sits when he meets new people, (nearly) never jumps up, and knows hand signals and verbal commands for several useful behaviors (my favorite being "Leave it" as he is a sock thief). He's been very easy to train with these methods and I am grateful at not having to manhandle the little guy with any choke chain corrections or electric zappers. Because this training is positive and kind, the bond of trust that I have with Chuy doesn't get damaged during training (which feels more like playing because the puppy gets to have a good time and treats). Kat, Shelby(? I am horrible with names) and Kelsey have an amazing amount of patience and run a tight ship in terms of keeping the space (at PAWparazzi) safe and clean. They are great with answering questions and obviously adore dogs. They exhibit a great deal of understanding for dogs and humans, even when the humans make mistakes :-) . Karma Dog also offers a great deal of support and information online. It's really comprehensive training and so much more. I felt at every step that Kat and her helpers were in our corner and really cared about the puppies and people succeeding. It was a great experience for me and Chuy LOVED it. This place is awesome! We started the puppy kindergarten and socialization class when my puppy was 2 1/2 month old at the Chatsworth location with Kathryn and Kelsey. At first I was hesitant to go because the drive was about 30minutes away. But since they offer a free trial class with no obligation to enroll, I said why not try it right? It is an indoor place, means less distraction and the trainers were both very kind, fun and knowledgeable. My puppy was a little overwhelmed in the beginning but the trainers came up to me and immediately gave us instruction on how to make it fun for Yoshi(my puppy). As a new owner, i was thankful for all their advice and tips on working with him. It is an organized training and socialization at the same time, where they do 10-15minutes training then about 15 minutes of playtime for 75minutes. It's so funny because, I would say that it helped me more than it helped Yoshi! Yoshi graduated his kindergarten class last Sunday We are looking forward and hoping to take more classes with Kathryn and Kelsey even if I have to drive 30miles away(they offer a class 5minutes away from my house). Our vet encouraged us to get Luna socialized in a safe environment as soon as we could, even though she wasn't fully vaccinated yet. We did our research and came across Karma Dog Training. One of the great things about Karma is that they have their socialization and training sessions at several locations, so you'll never have to drive too far away. After reading so many great reviews, I reached out to them, and they were very quick to respond to my initial questions. For the puppy kindergarten classes, they make sure the young puppies are protected from diseases by offering the classes in a sterile environment (you even have to clean the bottom of your shoes before you walk in) which is perfect for puppies that don't have all of their shots yet. Each class focuses on a new training skill, including sit and lay down, come, stay, go to bed, leave it, loose leash walking, and fun things like shake and roll over. I know the classes are technically for the puppies, but Kathryn is really also training the humans. She gives in depth explanations of how to positively train your pups on these skills so you, as the owner, feel very knowledgeable each time you leave class. She is also always available for questions you might think of outside of class via email or text which is always reassuring! As for the socialization, Kathryn and Kelsey are great at making sure all of the puppies feel comfortable and safe. About half of the class time is just made up off puppy playtime, during which the pups get to run around and enjoy the company of all of the other dogs. During our first class, Luna was very nervous and scared around the other puppies. Kathryn and Kelsey kept a close eye on her and made sure her interactions with the other puppies were positive and fun. By our next class, Luna had gained confidence and was ready to play with everyone. By the last class, Luna had actually become the dog that was accidentally scaring the new puppies because she just wanted to play. In those cases, Kathryn and Kelsey were keeping a close eye on Luna just to make sure she didn't traumatize the new puppies in class by accidentally playing too rough with them like she could with dogs that are more her size. Through the class, we have seen major improvements in Luna's overall obedience, and especially in her loose leash walking (she was a major puller but she is getting better everyday thanks to the training that we learned with Karma). We are so grateful for Karma Dog Training's help with Luna, and we can't wait to continue onto the next set of classes with Karma! I've got what I like to call a 'problem puppy'... I love her to death but my Cocker Spaniel mix, Jupiter, definitely needed training. When I started working with Kathryn and Kelsey at Karma Dog Training, Jupiter was antisocial and very possessive of food/treats. And although she is the sweetest girl around humans, she does have some issues dealing with other dogs' excitement. I don't know how, but Kathryn and Kelsey worked their magic and Jupiter listens to pretty much everything they say, and is SUCH a different puppy now. I cannot say enough amazing things about this program, more specifically our trainer!!!! We got a puppy and while she is an amazing dog, we really needed help with training. We went to another place, and I hated it. Waste of money. Then we came to Karma, best decision we made. The first class is free just to feel it out, and there was an AMAZING trainer named Kathryn. Where do I begin with Kathryn... She is so incredibly sweet, so incredibly talented, and trustworthy. We literally gave her keys to our house, and never thought twice. She was the best thing we could have ever done for Bella (our puppy). We ended up getting the reverse boarding (where the trainer comes to your house and trains the dog for 6 hours), with the 6 week puppy course. Best decision! Kathryn came to our home and would work on things with Bella that she really needed help with. After 7 days, I feel like I have a completely different dog. She isn't afraid and anxious, she has become such an obedient dog that is truly calm and happy. Even my family said after the dog is an angel due to the training. Kathryn would work with Bella while we were at work, she would work with us when we were home and able to be with the dog, and would take her all over! Since we live in an apartment she would take her outside and socialize her, to a local park to decrease her anxiety with people and dogs, to the mall, all over!! I'm so incredibly thankful for everything Kathryn did for us!! Bella is not only a part of our family, but thanks to Kathryn, also much more patient, calm, and attentive. We are so lucky to have had Kathryn, I cannot say it enough. The doggy classes are also amazing. They really help with socializing our dog, and making sure it's a positive experience. The trainers (I believe there is always three people, Kathryn is one of them) are helpful in giving us guidelines and working through 6 weeks of fun classes. I highly recommend them for all puppies!!! Oh, one last thing, Bella literally loved Kathryn so much, every time Kathryn would leave she would sit by the door and cry, and every time Kathryn would arrive she was the happiest dog ever. We've got a German Sheppard puppy, Jazz, in August. We knew that he'll grow up to be a big dog (possibly over 100 lbs) and will need to be well trained. After extensive research we've selected Karma Dog Training. It was a great choice. I can't say enough good things abut my experience at Karma Dog Training. From my very first interaction with Jeff, I knew that I was in good hands. We spoke at length about my specific worries and concerns and he was able to recommend a specific puppy kindergarten location that he felt would be the best fit. He was right. I brought my puppy, Riggins, for his first class just two weeks after I rescued him. He was wild, didn't know any commands, and had very little experience with other dogs or people. I knew that puppy kindergarten would greatly benefit the both of us after the very first class. Kathryn and Kelsey are both incredibly kind, patient and knowledgable and instantly reassured me that the problems that I was having with Riggins were completely normal. We learned basic commands like sit, stay and down in one lesson each, which I never thought would be possible. Equally, if not more important, was the socialization. The ability for Riggins to play with other puppies in a fun and safe environment was invaluable to me. I recently completed a seven week training program with Kat and Kelsey from this company. They did a very good job of mixing individual training with the group classes. My dog was just under three months old when we started the training program and he definitely improved. They were anywhere from 8 to 12 dogs in each of the classes. Over the years we have had 5 dogs trained by various trainers. Our most recent experience training our new puppy was by far the best. Karma Dog Training does outstanding work. From the initial contact to inquire about their program, the experience has been positive - they follow up with you and are very accommodating to busy schedules so if you miss a group class, you can make it up. We did both one and one and group trainings. Our private trainer was Kathryn Hoohuli. Kathryn is not only a truly competent trainer (she knows what she's doing), she is patient, thorough and understanding. A very positive person, she emphasizes that we are setting up our pup for success and that is her training mantra (it's actually the training mantra for all Karma trainers because the group sessions had the same philosophy). So no yelling or negative reinforcement - all positive! She is so good that I have already referred her to several people. What really makes her outstanding is that after each session she sends you a summary report of what we trained on and what we need to practice before the next session. That, in my opinion, is over and beyond the call of duty here. She's amazing. As far as the group sessions go, they are also excellent. Very positive supportive and nurturing environment for the pups and the owners - and very CLEAN!! They even make you disinfect your shoes in this solution before you enter the training area. I would HIGHLY recommend using Karma Dog Training if you have a new pup or even an olde dog who needs some help (we have another dog that was always present at the private training and Kathryn trained both and handled it beautifully). read more

I found Karma Dog Training online and took a chance. WOW am I glad I did. I didn't realize my puppy needed so much socializing, when we showed up for class my puppy Echo was afraid and cowering in the corner. I couldn't believe how afraid she was because when we were at home she was wild and crazy having so much fun. Kat and Kelsey (the trainers) really brought Echo around with their positive training methods and by the second class Echo was actually going up to other puppies and meeting them. By the third class she was running and playing like she owned the place. Echo also learned sit, stay, come, leave it, lie down, loose leash walking and kennel up. My daughter came with me to every class and now her and Echo have such a special bond. The positive training that Kat and Kelsey taught myself and my daughter has created a lifetime of love with our puppy, Echo. This review is for customer service only, since I never got to a trainer, even for a 10 minute "free" phone consultation. Emailed them initially from their website at 10am. Received a prompt response from customer service rep! Would I like her to set up a free 10 min consultation via skype or phone? Emailed her at 11:22, yes please! Next email from Rose, Either she, or a certified canine behaviorist would get back to me "shortly". (email sent at 11:44) Anyway, never heard back from Rose or any trainer. Sent a couple of follow-up emails, ie, is anyone getting back to me today? Nice emails! Just wanted to know. I was kinda sitting on my phone. Got prompt responses from 2 different people. One of them referred to my dog as "Harriet". Funny, Never even gave them my dog"s name. Never got that far. After the "Harriet email", altho I laughed it off and told them "no prob" about the mistake, no further contact after they apologized and asked for my dog's name, at 4:13pm So, Karma Dog does not do what they say they will do. In the initial contact period. For a brand spanking new client. They seem to be all about the phone reps doing spin control, and putting clients in a holding pattern, Very disappointed. read more
