I wad prescribed Lithium. 45 pounds later and no improvement in my condition I was taken off the medication but the damage was done. i was not bi-polar. I lost 10 pounds after stopping the medication but took three years to lose the remaining. Then I called his office requesting prior test results. I had no success with his staff so sent a certified letter to Dr Whitlock indicating that his staff was non-responsive. I never received any follow-up correspondence or my test results, which I believe are my property. I would tread carefully. At first I was impressed but after being perscribed a cocktail of drugs including Fentyal I moved on

I was in therapy with Katherine for about 6 months. Therapy sessions with her consisted of me…read moretalking most of the time, and her barely giving me any feedback. But I was in a bad place and desperately needed to talk to a professional which is not what I found with her at all. She is so unprofessional that she even ate on two separate occasions while in therapy with me. It is so wrong for a counselor to eat while in session with a patient. As a patient you pay lots of money for a counselor to listen and talk to you. How was she going to counsel me with her mouth full of food? This was only one of the many signs of what a poor counselor she is. The reason I stopped being her patient is because I had to cancel an appointment with less than 24 hr notice. My appointment was at 9 am the next day and I cancelled the day before around 5pm. When asking her, if she was going to charge me any cancellation fees she said yes because it was less than 24 hrs. I asked her if she could maybe not charge me for this cancellation, she agreed to charge a little less. But then she started to be really rude towards me. My problem with that was that in the past she cancelled two of my appointments with less than 24 hours and as a patient I had to accept this and was totally understanding of her situation. Other counselors have had no problem with me cancelling as long as I do it the day before. She also lacks an appointment reminder system. I always communicated with her in a polite way and that's not what I got in return. A couple of months after I stopped being her patient I was absolutely surprised when I found out she was still charging my credit card (she likes to keep her client's cards on file). At that point she had overcharged about $187. When I contacted her about this very serious issue she was vague about her reasons, blaming my insurance company. I had to waste a lot of time fixing this problem. She was not helpful at all, when I asked her for a refund, she not only did not refund me the money but charged my credit card again! Overall she charged my card more than $350!!! On top of everything she told me to stop contacting her when she still owed me all that money. At that point I had to go to my bank and dispute her charges. About 10 days after this dispute, she did refund me the money and the overcharges, but this says a lot about how organized she is. I obviously do not recommend anyone to have counseling with this woman. Besides the nightmare with her overcharging my credit card, I think a mental health professional should be more caring, respectful, patient and sensible about her patients.

Katherine understood me well and wouldn't let me get too far ahead of myself in my therapy. When I asked for resources outside of therapy she provided them. The DBT I learned from Katherine was the biggest factor in establishing stability in my life. When I switched insurance companies there was an issue with the billing, but Katherine resolved the problem without hassle.

Dr. Taylor is the best Psychologist I've seen-- and I've been seeing therapists for 20 years. She…read moreis very well-educated, honest, open, caring and very flexible when it comes to scheduling her patients. She could easily overwhelm someone who is uncomfortable with strongly opinionated women, but she is an incredible listener and is not afraid to keep a patient's diagnosis a fluid one. She also gave me referrals for a psychiatrist and a marriage counselor-- when the first marriage counselor didn't work out well, she gave me another referral that did. She was recommended to me by a friend, and I've recommended her to my own friends and family. She is a Christian and that does influence her world view and style of therapy, but she does not only treat other Christians and is adept and skilled enough to keep religion out of sessions when necessary. Personally, being a Christian, she is the first real Christian Psychologist I've ever seen, and the experience has been life-changing. So many times I've been forced to keep my religious views out of my therapy sessions, but I just can't divorce my mind and my spirit like that. Other Christians who have just been "counselors" or "therapists" were not skilled enough to deal with the depth of my problems and ended up doing more harm than good. To say that I TRUST Dr. Taylor is the greatest vote of confidence I could ever give to a doctor, and I do.

She is very well educated and skilled in her work and confident in the belief that she can help you or she will recommend someone who will be a better fit. I trust Dr. Taylor to have my best interest in mind and to be selfless in the way she serves. She is helping me through a very difficult time in my marriage and walking with me in my own journey of healing a great deal of heartache and grief. I have issues both with the billing as well as the quality of service for my teenage child that was…read moreseeing one of their therapists. The billing issue is ultimately what led to me deciding to leave the review as I was clear that my child would be taking over payments and to not charge anything further to me. The therapist acknowledged that, but they did not appear to try and reach out to my child to obtain a new payment method and then without warning, just charged me about a week later (I had messaged them before the last session took place). The facility manager who oversees the therapist was also quite rude when they followed up with my complaint about being charged. But the larger issue is that despite a year and a half of therapy, in every measurable way, they have not helped my child. I won't get into the details of the issues here, but in every way I can see that they needed help, things have either stayed the same or gotten worse. Now this office did not create those issues, and they can only help my child when they are willing to be open and honest, but a more qualified therapist would likely have been able to make better progress, and the rate they charge and the fact they don't accept insurance, means my expectations are high, and they failed miserably to meet those expectations. Based on my experience, I can in no way, shape, or form, recommend this office or the people in it.

I cannot say enough positive things about Paradigm in Austin, Texas. This program saved my sons…read morelife and I will forever be grateful that this worked out and we were able to send him. I'd like to start with his therapist, Glory. She had such a great way to connect with these kids, and was able to get to the root of my son's issues. It was a tough road, but life can be very tough, and he managed to get through on the otherside. Like any parent reaching out for help, I was VERY apprehensive, and some of these reviews scared me to be honest. We had an absolutely positive and successful experience. My son will tell you that it was life-changing for him. One that would be that he's never felt more accepted or understood. He will also say that it was the best food he's ever had! I had lots of things to change withinThey myself when he got out, and cooking was one of those things. All humor aside, it was very emotional when it came time for him to leave. He was in tears, his peer's were in tears, and to be honest, it was emotional on all of us. I'd also like to say that it is a very fine-tuned establishment. They have family weekends that we looked forward to, and they allowed families to be involved in therapy and activity. They kept in touch with us quite frequently, and if I needed to get a hold of my son, they were all available to speak with me and make time for him to talk with us. The accommodations were outstanding, as each teen had a queen bed, a clean bathroom, and kitchen facilities. They had a living room with boardgames, television and just a quaint gathering area. They were also able to incorporate his school with this program, and also gave one on one assistance which was more than he was getting just being in school and being home. My son had mentioned many other therapists that he also loved, but it has been awhile and I cannot remember their names. We cannot name one negative about Paradigm, and I'm sharing this as a parent with a great experience and no other affiliation to this establishment. Within days, they made him feel like family, and we couldn't me more thankful.

It's almost impossible to find aqua therapy in Austin but I got very lucky here. I had been in…read morethis type of therapy before so I knew what to expect going in. I was more than pleasantly surprised. There were locker rooms and many places to sit around the pool (which for anyone who has great difficulty walking outside a pool is a god-send!) Both therapists I have had, Hunter and Patti, are engaging, knowledgeable, patient, and responsive. (They are both also a hoot! :-) Hunter even lets me choose the music while I am there!) In just 2 months I have had significant improvement! It was fairly easy to get reserved pool time that works with my limited schedule and they are very easy to work with, both personally and insurance-wise. I have never used the land-based therapy but they seem to have an abundance of great equipment and therapists. I can't recommend them enough!
