Wow! This was a seriously great dinner. I love Korean food, but perhaps foolishly didn't expect to find such a fantastic Korean restaurant in CDMX.
Nice minimalist decor and friendly and attentive servers welcomed us in. After that the food was exceptional in taste and plating. Prices are more than the CDMX norm, but feel well worth it for the overall experience.
We started with the buchu jeon, a Korean chive pancake with shrimp and soy sauce. It had lots of flavor and was a winning appetizer to start the evening. For entrees, I had the bibim bab, always a favorite. It was a perfect sized portion and also a good looking dish in its plating. Once I mixed everything together with the kochujang sauce, the taste was fresh and healthy. My partner ordered the jeyuk bokkeum bab: stir-fried pork with rice and steamed bok choy. This was an absolutely beautifully plated dish, like a painting in its color and placement, and the taste was excellent. It was on the spicy side, so be forewarned.
Last, but not least... if you are full, you still should try the classic cheesecake. Don't miss out! It just might be the best cheesecake we've ever had (and we live in NYC, where it is a perennial favorite). This cheesecake had a creamy layer inside the normal cheesecake style and it made for an amazing and memorable end of our meal. Kasina Café was a break from our love for Mexican food and an unexpectedly outstanding dinner. Definitely give it a visit! read more
