Dr. Musello has been my Gyno for over 4 years and I can't be more happier. I used to go out of state to get hormones therapy and had to pay out of pocket. Thank goodness my primary referred me to Dr. Musello years ago. She is progressive in the knowledge of women's hormones. And she enjoys educating her patients. In the past, I have experienced below average front office staff but that has not been so in the last couple of years. The office staff are courteous, helpful and friendly. I'm a huge fan of Dr. Musello. When I raised my kids in Albuquerque, she was my Gyn in the 80s and 90s. I then moved away for a decade and only recently returned. She's seen me through lots of life cycles, the most recent being a possible need for hormone replacement therapy. My husband and I both went to her office and she spent over an hour with us, going over medical histories, talking about therapies and solutions, learning about my history of colon cancer, and generally treating us like people she genuinely likes and wants to help. I am so grateful that I rediscovered her and that she's now in my corner AGAIN! I don't understand the negative reviews here - my experience has never been anything but positive and caring when I'm in Dr. Musello's office. read more

I have seen many doctors for BHRT since the removal of my ovaries, and finding Dr. Musello has been a life saver. She listened to me, assured me and treated me. The receptionist gave me a time and day for my appointment over the phone but apparently put something different in the computer. When I showed up for my appointment I was told I had been scheduled for the previous week and was threatened with a $50 fine! When I was finally able to get an actual appointment Dr. Freedman insisted I return for another appointment to receive my results. I personally can't afford a $35 copay for a 5 or 10 minute discussion and was threatened with another $50 fine :( The option to receive results via a phone or letter would have been appreciated. Dr. Musello kicked me out of her office due to "no connection between us." As this elderly woman I didn't know began to ask me deeply personal questions that had little to nothing to do with the part of my body she was supposed to examine. I told her that though her concern into my personal life was unwarranted I appreciated her concern. I would have at least appreciated it if she had decided to kick me out before I took off my pants. She decided we weren't a match afterward. Incredibly unprofessional and I would not recommend Dr. Musello to anyone. read more

We moved from Austin to Placitas and one of my concerns was finding good Doctors. I feel so blessed to have picked Kate Musello, MD. Instead of a sterile Doctor's office, you feel like you are in a lovely home. Each exam room is decorated beautifully. Dr. Musello took me into her lovely office and sat down and talked to me! For longer than any Doctor I can ever remember. She has studied and read diligently to find out about women's health. Not studies financed by the Pharmaceutical companies, but Academic studies. Because of this, she stays on top of cutting edge research and was able to guide me in so many good directions, with both books and a film. I had been spending thousands of dollars on Compounded Medicines in a desperate attempt to feel better. With her quest for knowledge and brilliant mind, she was able to explain to me why Compounded medicines aren't regulated. And why I might want to try another route. After years of suffering from Interstitial Cystitis, a painful and debilitating bladder disease she had me use an inexpensive medicine that has helped more than any single thing my Urologist's told me about in the the 24 years I had been in pain. Life changing. She did not push the medication, I have spent thousands of dollars on since being diagnosed with I.C. I am anxious to read the literature she told me about and to get a lab test to see how she changes both my Thyroid and Hormone medications. I trust her completely. Her hard work has paid off. We are so lucky to have a Gynecologist like her in the Albuquerque area. I wish that all of my girlfriends were able to see her. I have seen many Doctors in my life and Dr. Musello is in a class of her own. I feel so grateful and can't wait to work with her in the future. She treats her patients as equals. Not someone that many Doctor's talk down to. Highly recommend this Doctor. read more

Dr. Musello is a great doctor. She's a sweet lady and very very helpful. Unfortunately, her staff is rude and unhelpful. They won't return your calls if you leave a voicemail even if you're trying to reschedule. So don't bother leaving a voicemail because they'll probably say they didn't get it, then threaten you with a $50 fine when you miss your appt. read more

A friend of mine recommended Dr. Musello to me and I'm glad she did. I've never had any problems with her staff or her. I've gone to Dr. Musello for close to twenty years now, she's been my only OBGYN. I can't say enough positive things about her and her staff. Her staff is incredibly sweet, attentive and visits with you like you're friends. Dr. Musello takes the time to know me as a patient and a person. She talks about anything affecting my health beyond gynecological issues and always has insightful information to share whether it be books or articles she recommends reading or her knowledge on new medical advances. She's never once recommend pharmaceuticals as an answer to any of my ailments which I appreciate. She encourages a balanced life and positive outlook. Not only did I get sassed by the staff when calling for the second time for a antiobiotic prescription, I was hung up on, I called back and asked to speak to Dr. Musello and was told she doesn't take calls from patients. What doctor does not take calls from patients? Dr. Musello called me back and didn't even ask what I needed, she just flat out said I don't appreciate you yelling at my staff it was the pharmacy that didn't get your order because it was electronically filed. Dr. Musello said I could take my business elsewhere , so I did! This office could use a mature staff person or two who have customer service skills. read more

My mother and I both go to Dr. Musello, she is a great doctor, though the nurses have mixed up my prescriptions with those for my mom and vise versa and were never told until we brought the problem to their attention. The front desk staff is sassy and almost always rude, but I continue to go because of Dr. Musello herself. They aren't considerate of patients and don't assure you of anything except how much money they want too charge you with. read more

When I moved here, the first thing I wanted to find was a good gynocologist. After one appointment with Dr. Musello, I was so disappointed I will never return. Her front desk staff was rude and impatient, making me feel not only self conscious, but unwanted. The entry and doctor's offices were dingy, at best. Finally, after feeling completely judged by her wait staff, I finally got to work with the doctor herself. I felt forced into taking tests and into changing my medication, which I had been happy with for over 5 years. She did not even listen to my concerns and was busier making chit chat about the weather. As a first time patient, she even had the audacity to tell me "I better hurry up and make those babies if I want them." I'M NOT EVEN 23! Overall, the worst experience I have ever had with someone who should be a healthcare professional. If you want to feel pressured and unappreciated, Kate Musello is your doc. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Musello for five years. I found her to be very knowledgeable about HRT. She convinced me to have an IUD inserted with in-office sedation which was wonderful. Her office staff makes many mistakes on prescriptions, and will give you the run-around when you try to find out what's going on and they do tell you that she does not return calls to patients and they will make you schedule another office visit if you have a question. Dr. Musello did tell me to go find someone else if I didn't like it. I put up with all this because I believed in her skills. However, when it came time to replace the IUD, she told me I now had to pay a pharmacy out of pocket, and not to call her, but wait on the pharmacy. She also told me I no longer qualified for in-office sedation and would just have to try it without. The pharmacy wanted $911.60. She didn't even order blood work to check my hormone levels. Something was so wrong with this picture so I called my health plan and found out I was completely covered for both the device and reinsertion and verified she is in-network. They contacted her and her staff pretended they didn't know about how all this works although they specialize in this. It turns out, my health plan also never received a claim for the initial procedure five years ago and Musello's office can't find it. The health plan is now investigating these very suspicious circumstances of trying to make me pay out of pocket when I am covered. Now, at the age of 60+yrs., I have an IUD that needs to be removed and I am stuck trying to find another doctor ASAP. read more

My complaint is about the staff and the environment in general because I truly believe perception is reality. Walking in I noticed a fish tank piled with dust and the water full of alge. I was greeted by a young adult with piercings on her face and tank top shirt. Once, I was called in the nurse herself had a hicky on her neck. The Gynecologist is already an awkward place so to see that the Doctor has aloud this, I was hesitant. The Doctor was great and helpful, super sweet lady. However, I was scolded, threatened with collections and hang up on by a receptionist instead of offered a payment plan. I was shocked and called right back, the phone was answered by another receptionist saying she heard the whole conversation and that's what happens when balances are not paid, which I completely understand. I was concerned that she heard my conversation with the first receptionist, either I had been placed on speakerphone in the Doctor's office or if she is flat out lying to me. I just needed help not attitude. read more
