I went to the ice cream hut, ordered a double scoop cone. I paid first, as I do when ordering a cone, so that I can accept it and eat it without fumbling. The woman who served me, and who was handling cash, picked up an unwrapped cone in her bare hands, topped it with ice cream, and passed it to me. I had already paid or I'd have told her to keep it. I ate the ice cream from the top and threw the remainder away. This is a screaming indication of the level of attention to sanitary practices at Kate's, ensuring that I would never eat anything from their kitchen. If they do this in front of a customer, what are they doing when they cannot be seen? I feel uneasy just thinking about it.
