Walking in, it's a typical pub with lots of wood and adverts for Irish whiskey. We came for breakfast, I had the Full Veggie breakfast, my wife close the Acai Berry bowl. This is not good that you would expect in the US. There was very little Acai berry. My veggies included 2 mushrooms, fried potatoes and baked beans along with 2 sunny side eggs. The scone was really amazing as was the jelly that came with it. Irish pub food is special. It can only be evaluated on it's own context. Great food it was not. The service was wonderful, as was the ambience.

Nice pub & grub across from King John's Castle. They only had one server/bartender for the evening, but overall he did a great job. I had the fish & chips. The fish was Flaky and the batter was not greasy. The chips were marginal, but the mushy peas were excellent. Decent draft, beer, selection and full bar.

Disappointing at best. Ordered Fish and chips and grilled chicken sandwich, the special of the day. Fish tasteless, chips barely warm-very mushy. Sandwich was as expected, just ok nothing "special". Limited beer selection for an Irish Pub. Why is Coors, an American beer on tap?? Here on a Saturday evening and NO live Irish music as promoted was being played. This truly is a tourist trap! Castle views are limited. Not recommended. Service was friendly and quick. It's. Mystery as why this is a heritage pub-according to the printout, Katie Daly was born and died in California, USA. There seems to be quite a selection of Whiskey, so if that's your jam this could be a place to visit.

Great place located next to the King John's Castle, Katie Daly's has great food, great service, and wonderful fun staff! Before our tour of the Castle, we decided to stop in a grab a bite to eat. Hoping for a great café and not a tourist trap, since next to castle, we were pleasantly surprised by the amount and the taste of food, and not bad prices! Small looking pub, dates back to 1789, 3 stories, nice fireplace on the main floor, restroom above and below floors, traditional Irish fare. We popped in for fish and chips and Chicken Goujons. What are goujons you might ask??? Tender chicken strips breaded in seasoning and lightly fried to perfection! Yes...a fancy name of chicken fingers/strips When the food came out we were stunned at how big and beautiful it all looked! The fish was tender and flaky, the chips (Fries) were feel the snap good, my chicken was delish, tender, tasty, and the salad was exactly what I needed as a side for my lunch! I followed this up with a nice Moretti and the mister followed his up with some nice Irish whiskey. The bar is fully loaded...so what's your choice???? If ever in Limerick again...I will stop by here for a nice meal, drink, and bar talk!

Wonderful, very attentive staff, great Irish coffee, great pub food, and oldest pub (established in 1789!!!) in Limerick. Across from King John's Castle, and on the River Shannon. A real go-to! Very warm, pubby atmosphere! Love it!

As we came out of King John's Castle we popped in to this little pub just across the castle entrance/exit. It's a cozy pub dating back to 1789. I had Murphy's stout on tap (I think that and/or Guinness are always on tap in every pub). The chowder was a nice light creamy broth with nice chunk s if vegetables and seafood. Accompanied by two hearty slices of brown bread and salted Irish butter, the soup and beer make for a nice December weather warmup. There was on a couple customers in the pub and the barkeep was attentive.

This has to be my favorite Fish and Chips in Ireland. Not only did they give a great presentation, but the atmosphere and friendliness was amazing. Gourmet style Fish and chips is what I would call it. The batter never once came off of the fish, every bite was perfect. My girlfriend ordered the Lasagna and we couldn't figure out who's dish was better. What a nice surprise for our 1 day stay. Will recommend to anyone.

Excellent chowder. Bartender great. Jack there manager passed along a t shirt and hat for a small nominal fee. Beer and Jamison was obviously great too. A must see. And right across from a castle!!

We expected a tourist trap but were pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious, service was great and the Guinness was some of the best.
