Adorable pub in Limerick. This find was a short walk from our hotel and boy was the food delicious! We got in late and found a seat in the food service section. We were quickly greeted by the server and placed our orders. The food was fresh and tasty and the atmosphere was adorable. We were there on a Monday night and they had live music which was also great. Definitely recommend visiting if you're in the area! read more

This pub located just across from the Hunt museum along George's Quay is a very special space to enjoy an evening. Walking in you immediately feel the wonderful energy of people enjoying themselves. The bar is filled with tables of different sizes and shapes and with groups drinking beer, wine, water and a eating a meal. There's not much more to say about the Stout, oh how much I enjoy a pint or 2. The food is also really good. The seafood chowder was full of fish with a superb flavor. The burata appetizer was excellent. The yellow curry was really satisfying, not too spicy. My wife ordered the goats cheese salad. The veggies were fresh andthe goat cheese was completely delicious. I can't remember having better goat cheese. And to top it off, there music from 5-7 and 9-11. This is definitely a place to come while in Limerick. read more

My second time here and I really enjoy this place. I've dined in a lot of places in Ireland and they provide some of the best service I've ever received in Ireland. We had five different people ensuring we had enough drinks and our food was ok. Everyone wanted to make sure the dining experience met our expectations. It was crazy busy which I why the level of service was even more remarkable. I love the level of attentiveness that was perfect without annoying me while we tried to eat. The onion rings were nice and crispy and we opted for the Steak ale pie which the meet was super tender with a lot flavor. First time visiting Limerick and found this nice lunch spot along the water. Great views sitting across the street by the river. We had the white chicken sandwich and the Mediterranean veggie wrap. Both were fine for lunch. I'd skip the cheese on the wrap next time. VERY fast service. Classic pub but also a very good restaurant. I ordered the fish and chips and the 28 day dry aged steak, and I really enjoyed both entrees. The fish is covered in a thick batter, and is fried to a really crispy layer. The chips (fries) and thick and crispy. The dry aged ribeye really blew my mind. Medium rare cooked to perfection, soft, chewy, delicious. The Bearnaise sauce was great and had a strong peppercorn flavor that complemented the steak really well. I wish there was a larger beer selection -- Guinness is not a bad choice in Ireland -- but the whiskey collection is quite large. Our hotel concierge recommended this when we asked for a good place with local Irish food. It's located near a cute river/bridge and has patio dining so you can enjoy your meal outside if weather is nice. We walked in & were immediately seated. Place was busy but plenty of room/tables. Once we were ready to head out for dinner, we were looking forward to checking out Limerick at night and visiting The Locke Bar (August 2023). Both the hotel staff and Dean from Treaty Bar had recommended it, as well as finding it during our planning, we felt it was the must-do place. Thankfully, Dean told us that the fish tacos were the best option and let me just say... He was right, absolutely delicious!! Quite possibly this was the best meal we had eaten. The bar was busy when we got there around 8:30pm, and even though we couldn't find a place inside to eat, they had literally over a hundred tables. We got one that was mostly under the awning and luckily the rain kept to a light drizzle until we were done eating. The process was efficient and the food came out fresh. We split one order of the fish tacos and one order of the shrimp tacos and both came with french fries (chips) and all of it was super flavorful and delicious. The tacos reminded me of Pedros from home but instead had the chili mayo. After we ate, we managed to get a table inside the bar to listen to some traditional live music. The musicians were very good and would take requests. Sometimes a traditional Irish dancer would join them and she was also very good. I had such a great time at The Locke Bar. When we walked in, a lot of the tables were full but we saw 2 gentleman leave and gave their table to us. All the waitresses and waiters were so friendly, nice, and patient. Though there were a lot of people, they continued to smile and didn't let that stress them. There was great live Irish music and some dancing as well. I had the shrimp tacos and my husband had the steak and ale pie. I know shrimp tacos aren't typically part of the Irish cuisine, but they were so delicious. The shrimp was flavored really well and they were good size pieces. My husband really enjoyed the steak and ale pie. The puff pastry was so light and flaky. For dessert, we had the warm homemade sticky toffee pudding and the homemade ice cream. In a month bouncing around Ireland, England, and Scotland, the Locke Bar served THE best steak and ale pie I had. They cook their stew long and slow -- reducing the juices down to a thick syrup and leaving the meat tender and soft. The flavors are perfect -- especially paired with a fresh pint of Guinness. My wife had the fish tacos and they were huge, and divine. Kids had the usual fare of burgers and fries and chicken -- everyone loved it. If we'd stayed more nights in Limerick I would have eaten here again and again. read more

Really cool place to eat, right on the canal front between the River Shannon and The River Abbey. The scenery can't be beat! It does get crowded but if you can't find a seat inside, there's a ton of seating outside, and even across the street. If you are dining outside, you have to order and prepay inside, then they bring your food out to you. We had the Fisherman's Pie for €17.50 and the Classic Steak and Ale Pie for €15.00 The Classic Steak and Ale Pie was pretty much steak and gravy stuffed into a puffed pastry. It was good, but it was really just steak and gravy. It kind of reminded me of the Mexican carne guisada dish, but wrapped up in a French pastry instead of a tortilla. Kind of salty like carne guisada can be. It was a huge serving, and the pastry was soft and flaky. It came with plenty of French fries, and also a side of marrowfat peas (you'll have to Google that one like I did to find out what it is - they were good though!). The Fisherman's Pie was ok. It was a mixture of haddock, cod, and smoked salmon, topped with parmesan mashed potatoes. The combination tasted a little on the fishy side and the smoked salmon seemed to add a heavy, salty, smoky taste to the dish. It included a decent side salad. We ended the night with the creme brulee for €6.50 Draft beers are just a tad over €5. Not bad for a tourist area I guess. Traditional Irish music started right at 5. It was a two piece band, consisting of an acoustic guitar player and a fiddle player. Occasionally, an Irish folk dancer would come out and dance a jig. All in all, it was a great experience. The service was very friendly, but they didn't check up on us very often, so I would rate it as average. read more

As an American tourist this is exactly what I expected and more out of an Irish Pub. Friendly fast service, fresh Guinness on draft and amazing food. We got oysters, seafood chowder, fish and chips, and steak and ale pie. The seafood chowder was full of fish and was a delicious way to warm up from the cold rain. Limerick was a great stopping point as we were traveling from Wales to a cute little surfing town called Lahinch on the far west coast of Ireland!
