I asked the receptionist how long a wait there would be (as I had a painful foot issue) and after checking she said about 45 minutes. I couldn't imagine standing in a hot waiting room for that amount of time. The very nice gentleman in the wheelchair offered to try to maneuver his wheelchair so I could get to the blocked seat. Anyhow, when I decided to leave I was asked if I wanted to reschedule??? What? I was scheduled. Don't schedule so many appointments near the same time to try to avoid this issue. At least offer me some room to sit in instead of having me stand for a long amount of time. I did like the doctor, but it is not worth it if I have to stand in a hot room for with an aching foot/ankle.

Located at a pretty convenient spot near the 6 train…read more I'm always super nervous when I see a doctor in the US, since there are just way too many things that could go wrong (especially insurance issues...The last time I visited another podiatrist, the receptionist tried to charge me over $250 for a quick consult!), but this was a great visit! The receptionist was SUPER friendly and nice (though I think the office manager was out sick that day...so not sure who was there, but it was the same person that took my blood), and I got to see the doctor within 20 minutes of being there. Dr. Isaacson makes you feel really comfortable and makes sure that all of your concerns are addressed. He also keeps the conversation light, so you kind of forget about being nervous :) When they took my blood, it was also super fast and painless, even though I don't have the easiest veins haha (props to the nurse!). There was no fuss about how much my copay was, which was a relief! Glad they took the time to really check out my insurance and make sure everything was OK.

The second call to another receptionist is reluctant to help and insists that I must come in for an appointment although I was in five months before.. They had also prescribed a boot for me and some pt exercises. Neither really helped with the pain. So, I asked if I can get a script for an anti inflammator. At which point they all said, "he hasn't seen you in awhile" (a mere five months). No doubt another reason for them to ring the cash register again so he can look at it for 2 minutes. After I insisted to speak with him, he finally took my call.. He was very rude and never gave me a chance to speak. Talking over me with a huge condescending attitude. Simply looking for more BUSINESS ! This is why I'll never go back. I suggest you find a more reputable doctor !!

I honestly felt like it was my duty to share my experience here with others. Dr. David Ritterband was my eye surgeon. I did some research on him considering I only have one pair of eyes, and liked that he had an office on Park Ave where he does the procedures but also is a Clinical Assistant Professor. I had my post-op visit at the Eye and Ear Infirmary and even felt comfortable having his resident do my follow up because he was there teaching the resident, and that to me was reflective of his expertise in the area. Anyway, LaserOne is a nice office, very easy to get to. I was afraid they were just going to take my money, but they were actually extremely nice in reviewing the different types of procedures with me, answering all the questions I had, and working with what was best for MY eyes. I ended up not being eligible for LASEK because my corneas were too thin, so instead got the PRK (Photorefractive keratectomy) which is an older procedure. It was much cheaper, but they still recommended PRK for me because they focused on what would be best for my eyes. I had dry eyes to begin with as well and corneas were damaged from my contacts, so I was pleased to hear that PRK resulted in less dry eye. Consultation was very very useful and professional. I scheduled the big day, and asked Dr. Ritterband for Xanax or Valium to settle my nerves, to which he denied me and just told me to hug the teddy bear. Initially, I scoffed at the idea, but I stupidly watched the laser surgery on the TV screen before my turn so ended up clinging to the bear for dear life. (He seriously had to yank it out of my grip after the surgery was over.) Everything went smoothly, he's really nice and talks to you throughout the procedure to keep you calm and he explains everything as he's doing it, which I prefer. Not going to lie, PRK is very painful because you have to grow back your cornea, and I felt like my eyeballs were scraped on a sidewalk for about 36 hours. But that pain had nothing to do with LaserOne, that's just what PRK is like. The post-op visit like I said was great, and subsequent follow up visits were with the optometrist who works in the same LaserOne office. I like that all my records were there in one place so she (Dr. Ross) knew exactly what happened. This procedure was in 5/2009 and nearly 5 years later, I still have perfect vision. Best investment I ever made. My eyes may get dry after staring at a computer for too long, but nothing like what it was with contacts on. Sorry- much longer review than anticipated but hey, you only have one pair of eyes. Do your research.
