Both of our grandparents were born and raised on Oʻahu, and this vintage store brought back so many memories. The owners were incredibly down-to-earth and fun to talk story with. I scored a green palaka shirt that I plan to rock on the beach for Christmas, plus picked up some screen-printed shirts as gifts. There's also an upstairs room with more premium pieces, including collaborations with Japanese brands. Shout out to the cool mom that was buying gifts up there for her son. I've never really been into vintage shopping, but Single Double completely changed my mind. This place was more than just a store- it was an experience, and one I can't wait to revisit.

Liane led the champagne tasting and provided key details on the origin of champagne. We got to taste 7 different bottles. We were also served crostini, cheese, salami, chips, and the popular caviar spread. Ended the evening with chocolate covered strawberries and almond chocolates. I would love to come back and purchase some items that caught my eye. While speaking with some friends we saw a 1920's newspaper. I also saw honey in an enclosed glass case. This location is rich with history, and it's befitting that this little antique shop is sitting in the middle of an area that goes back in time. I am old enough to remember the Waialua Sugar Mill burning cane back in the 90's as I drove to Mokuleia Beach and seeing black debris of flying burnt sugar cane drift across my car windshield, along with smoke. The mill closed down in 1996 then became abandoned over time, then opened back up with new shops and little local stores, like this one. It's a very tiny store, no bigger than a small studio, but has a variety of really nice antiques crammed with vintage Pyrex, glassware, clothing, Pan-Am bags, hat boxes, costume jewelry, and anything else you care to explore. The owner Etsuko is super friendly and we spent a while discussing vintage clothing, barware, jewelry and the finer things that were important in life in the days when things were meant to last and not fall apart after a season of use. We had to check it out. A travel agency that just doesn't have the clientele anymore, the owners decided to turn most of their office space into a little thrift and consignment store. They have all manner of typical thrift goods: jewelry, toys, records, books, home goods, clothing, decor, and others. Prices are reasonable and typical. The only thing lacking is the selection; they have what they have and that's it. The cashier volunteer that day was very friendly and talked story with us for quite a while. It's worth checking out if you enjoy bargain and treasure hunting. Half their profits go to a local charity.

A Thrift Store Edition…read more My little family and I were driving down the street on Beretania for another errand when a green sign on the left screamed "Thrift Shop, today!" If you currently do business with Cosmopolitan Travel (name is on their building), on the same shopping center (where Petco and Walgreens is) this quaint little thrift store is in the same brick and mortar. The travel agency has long existed for many years and decided to add a little boutique as part of their business venture. The entrance is located on the back side of the boutique/travel agency and has their own mini lot. Drive in to the lot like you're going to Petco. The boutique is rather homey and tiny with an eclectic amount of knick knacks and small trinkets in every corner. Make sure you're looking up and down and in every crevice of this tiny store. Don't forget to look deep into the glass shelves for rare vintage/costume jewelries, pins and such. On the back a small rack of mixed articles of clothing, bags are hung up for perusing. Are you looking for kitchen cups and plates? On the back displays plenty for one to touch and feel. "If you don't buy it today, it may not be here tomorrow." which is true on all rules of treasure hunting. Delicate china's are in store along with shells, Christmas decorations, CD's, movies, 45 RPM records. The price is attractive for every piece you find. Eva was kind enough to tell us about the store she's looking after with her additional stories of history. It made our perusing experience that much more pleasant. So military bases sometimes have thrift stores....how cool is that!…read more Since I like to support our troops and save money, this place was a god send for me (hold your horses, I know proceeds dont fund the troops). Yes, you need to have military access to come here and if you have that you're golden! They had some of the best prices I've seen on the island, I found a vintage Def Leppard shirt for $2 and otherwise found really cheap clothes to wear to the beach and work. It was double punch day when we went so I took part in that and gave the card to my friend who is local. All in all, one of my favorite thrift stores on Oahu!

It's a small shop but it is packed with vintage merchandise. At first it feels overwhelming with all the different items that are displayed in the store, but once you see something that grabs your attention, your eyes focus on that one area of the shop. For me, being a huge Peanuts and Snoopy fan, the vintage Peanuts Christmas ornaments caught my eye. The vintage ornaments are ceramic, whereas the current ones are usually plastic. The salesperson seeing my interest in the Peanuts Christmas ornaments asked me if I'd like to see some that were still in boxes wrapped in tissue paper. Of course, I told her that I was interested! She was so patient unwrapping each ornament from the tissue paper and displaying them for me in the glass counter at the back of the store. She also pointed out all the different Peanuts merchandise that she had in the shop, including these really cool Peanuts Pepsi bottle caps from Japan. I didn't get the bottle caps, but I purchased several Christmas ornaments and Snoopy pins. I also added to my cart 8 Disney trading pins which were 4 for $5. I walked out of the shop with so many great finds totaling $160! The salesperson was so friendly and helpful (I didn't catch her name), that it made the 30 minutes that I spent in the shop "like a kid in a candy store" experience. I finally had an excuse to come to this one and was glad we did! The shop is welcoming with lots of colors and open door. They make the best use of their space, it's a tight squeeze which is extra challenging because this place is popular! It's covered in downtown Kailua, you can either enter from the street side or park in the middle lot right out front in the shared lot. The owner behind the counter was very welcoming and happy talking story with customers. My friends found a bunch of treasures, I got a LEGO set from a recent lot and she gave me a great price. If you're a fan of antiques, this is worth the trip.

When it does we look to the little things in life and see if it can go to someone who needed it more than we do, this is where consignment was something I've done in the past which can be risky but is great tool to sell that item your not totally committed to. Rhea Lana's is the nation's children consignment place that holds events is 25 states and guess what we have one right here in Hawaii and was coincidentally held in the former Toy r us location in Pearl City. I was just taken aback of how much inventory they had!Very neat and organized all sorted with clear signage for all things for kids like clothing, shoes, toys, furniture, books and even accessories for mom like bags and bottles. There was a few items I was interested in but the line was decently long with carts filled with items I though what a great organization this is and is obviously very needed in this community. It was also impossible to resist the 100% cotton t-shirts from the clearance rack for only $5 so we each got a souvenir. The sales associate was also very welcoming.
