Unfortunately, I found the store closed at 1pm which gave me about 20 minutes to find the store, park, and shop. Based on reviewers feedback, parking was great (once you pull into the right driveway). Following the sign on the door, I knocked, and was greeted by a sweet volunteer who had me sign in, then gave me the '411' on the shop. The section by the door was full of sale items (3/$2), while the rest of the items in the store were priced as marked. Now I had 15 minutes! What wonderful stuff - home decor, household items, and a small shoe and clothing section. I found a brand new Harrod's backpack for $17 (on Mercari for $80); the volunteers were both excited and impressed that I found something great in the short time in the store. Put this shop on your list - clean, nice stuff, good prices, sweet volunteers, and a great cause!

I thought that this was a hula supply store? Since I'm here, I should just take a look, right? Browsing the aisles that were filled with all kinds of merchandise like pareo, hair accessories, musical instruments, tube tops, lanyards, check book covers, hula skirts, etc., I found a rack of long mu'umu'u! I was excited to find a pretty lei print on lavender material with purple trim! Perfect! The nice man apologized that there was no dressing room. I estimated the length and width to figure what size to get. He said there's no refund and maybe I can come back for alteration? I think I'll fit! It's a small shop but it is packed with vintage merchandise. At first it feels overwhelming with all the different items that are displayed in the store, but once you see something that grabs your attention, your eyes focus on that one area of the shop. For me, being a huge Peanuts and Snoopy fan, the vintage Peanuts Christmas ornaments caught my eye. The vintage ornaments are ceramic, whereas the current ones are usually plastic. The salesperson seeing my interest in the Peanuts Christmas ornaments asked me if I'd like to see some that were still in boxes wrapped in tissue paper. Of course, I told her that I was interested! She was so patient unwrapping each ornament from the tissue paper and displaying them for me in the glass counter at the back of the store. She also pointed out all the different Peanuts merchandise that she had in the shop, including these really cool Peanuts Pepsi bottle caps from Japan. I didn't get the bottle caps, but I purchased several Christmas ornaments and Snoopy pins. I also added to my cart 8 Disney trading pins which were 4 for $5. I walked out of the shop with so many great finds totaling $160! The salesperson was so friendly and helpful (I didn't catch her name), that it made the 30 minutes that I spent in the shop "like a kid in a candy store" experience. They make the best use of their space, it's a tight squeeze which is extra challenging because this place is popular! It's covered in downtown Kailua, you can either enter from the street side or park in the middle lot right out front in the shared lot. The owner behind the counter was very welcoming and happy talking story with customers. My friends found a bunch of treasures, I got a LEGO set from a recent lot and she gave me a great price. My friend purchased a set of plastic flower beads to string together to make a necklace. What caught my eye that I really wanted was the sunrise shell necklace. I've always wanted one. The shell has the pink and yellow colors on it to mimic the sunrise. I'm contemplating on getting it as I've wanted one for a while.

Since I didn't need a bag, the sales associate handed me my clothes directly, but forgot my earrings. I didn't notice until I was halfway home. I tried looking everywhere for a phone number -- Yelp, the Ala Moana directory, the internet -- and couldn't find one. The only number I found just rang with no answer. So instead of calling, I had no choice but to drive all the way back through traffic. When I arrived, the sales associate saw me, handed me the earring, and said she was "going to text me." No apology, no "sorry for the inconvenience" -- nothing. Considering they have my number from the rewards program sign-up, that was disappointing. I happened to park right across the street from Calico Cat... in a metered street parking stall. Carol is the cheerful owner. She saw that I was confused because Every Day Better by Green Meadows is next door to Calico Cat. Carol explained the sign above that shows the name of the shop closest to each shop - depending on which way you face the sign. Ahhh... Calico Cat was described by their neighbor (Every Day Better by Green Meadows) as having fabric "eye candy". LOL! Yes - if you sew, you know that these bolts of material are very beautiful, whimsical, and unique! They are very inspirational and made me want to sew! Of course, I purchased a lot of material... thinking that Christmas is coming... I need to get a head start! Remember to get a Loyalty Card.
