I am SO glad that Katy has Yelp! I was planning to ask her to make one specifically so I could write this glowing review, but happily I'm not the only customer raving about her! :) Let's be honest, I'm a little obsessed with my dog, Jiggly Puff. She's a tiny maltese fluff ball, and she's pretty much the light of my life (other than the Fiance, of course). When I heard about Katy's "petraits", I was immediately excited to get one. Luckily, the fiance indulges my crazy love of our dog, and agreed to it. I emailed Katy is picture of Jiggly Puff, as well as a MUCH too long description of how she's the best dog ever (yeah, I know I'm crazy). Luckily, Katy seems familiar with crazy pet-lovers, so she seemed really excited to do the petrait. She emailed me yesterday saying I could pick it up today at the Little Italy Mercado. I live by UCSD, so its nowhere near me, but I was too excited to wait :) When I walked up to her booth, I saw my Jiggly Puff right away. I WAS FLOORED! It captured her so so well! She's happy, "smiling", and just an all around fantastic little dog. I gushed about it to Katy, and she seemed really happy that I was so pleased. Its great to see a local artist care so much about her work, especially when she's SO TALENTED! Katy is an incredibly talented artist, not to mention an all around wonderful person. I purchased a petrait for my friend for her birthday. Katy painted a fun and beautiful rendition of a photo of my friend's dog, Lucy, that I had emailed her. She truly captured Lucy's personality and likeness in her petrait. When I gave my friend her present she was completely taken back. She loved the painting and everyone who saw it agreed that it not only looked just like Lucy, but really represented her true spirit. I recently purchased one of Katy's famed Petraits as a gift for a friend. This friend is very particular and at the same time obsessed with her dogs. I recently ordered petraits of my 2 dogs. Through the use of a handful of photos and a short description of each one's personality, she produced 2 AMAZING petraits which capture the essence of each of them. She uses the eyes to convey their personalities in a way that a photograph cannot. Seeing a petrait is second-best only to seeing the pet itself. Not only is she an amazing artist, but she was very easy to work with. Because I live in Texas, I dealt with her exclusively through email - she always returned my emails within a reasonable timeframe. The paintings were delivered as promised and in excellent condition. A friend of my daughters gave her an amazing painting of our beloved Schnauzers for Christmas. I just loved the custom piece so much I immediately wrote to Katy to ask her to make one for me. I sent along a few different photos -so not to duplicate exactly my daughters gift.
