The good: - friendly and dedicated faculty who focus on teaching and preparing students - picturesque campus with Chinese gazebo - hub of community activity and not far from really anything on island - free parking...and lots of it given the size of the school - affordable way for students to get a college education without breaking the bank or leaving Kauai The bad (not really bad but something to think about): - because of it's size and the community it serves, the choices at KCC are limited and the facilities are on par with most high schools. What the faculty are able to do with those facilities is amazing. But if a student is looking for the widest range of choices as far as classes/degree fields they are going to have to go off island. Picturesque campus with a Chinese gazebo built with a generous donation by The Republic of China. I was actually just driving by and decided to go over to the gazebo to eat my lunch. It gave me a moment to consider the monument in honor of all the Chinese immigrants to Hawaii. From my spot I was able to look across the valley to the mountains and see the waterfalls in the distance. This little gazebo would be a good spot for many kinds of ceremonies. Kauai community college is part of the university of Hawaii branch colleges. It is a 2 year college program to earn your associates (also has options to earn higher degrees through distance education). As a student here, the faculty really care and the admissions were so helpful at making sure you are squared away with everything ( thanks karen and kailana soto!). They have a great pre-nursing advisor (Shelley) and she really walks you through everything and if you have any questions! She is the best and is sooooo helpful. Overall, this school is like almost home for me and I love it. There's also clubs and activities here that may interest you as well if you are a student or prospective student. There math department, is one of the best as well. I believe it was one of the top out of whole UH system. I am glad I started off here doing my prerequisite before transferring out. read more

I went to KCC to get my SCUBA Certification and loved it. It's the best educational option available on Kauai, hands-down. The courses were informative and affordable, instructors were knowledgable, and the certification helped me to launch my own business here at home. read more
