I love nature but I don't like roughing it ;) I loved the chalet it was the perfect place to be at one with nature and have all the comforts of home!!! It's very secluded which I loved you feel like you are a million miles away from the crazy city but yet you are just a few minutes away from the grocery store and town for anything you might need. We also found an amazing place between Sara's house and the cottage where we got fresh brown eggs and homemade jelly yum we will definitely go back there next time. The chalet is overlooking a beautiful lake and is surrounded by the most majestic view. It also has a nice place for a camp fire and also a BBQ grill so you can cook there plus a fully stocked kitchen with stove, microwave, plates, glasses, utensils, etc. and a dishwasher so no washing stuff by hand. It was nice to be able to not have to go out to eat we had everything we could have needed and more!! My parents stopped by to visit and my mom fell in love with the beautiful decorations throughout the chalet it had that personal touch to everything. They could not believe how amazing it was there we all agreed it wasn't just a cabin it was a home and a beautiful one! We have tried a bunch of other places nearby but they were so dirty and musty and that's being polite!! You won't find that at the Detweiler Chalets it's more like staying at a friends house or cabin it's beyond words!!! My husband and I can't wait to go back we were so sad to leave it really is a piece of heaven! I'm kinda high maintenance as my hubby would say I'm a five star hotel and room service kind of girl but I was so relaxed and content that I didn't have a care in the world while we were there!! One more thing for those of you campers who still like to occasionally have there TV & Wifi like I do, you will be happy to know there is a huge flat screen Tv with dish network and wireless internet so if it's raining outside you can curl up inside and watch a movie by the fireplace ;)

Neither of these options was available when I found myself in a lonely part of Michigan without cell service at about bed time. So I rolled the dice and got a room at the McKinley Corner Inn. The service was wonderfully welcoming and low key. The price was right. And the room was clean and tidy. The wi-fi was spotty and was only available near the office but I slept well and woke up refreshed and eager to attack the next day.

They did a good job with COVID, they had us stay outside while they checked us in. They asked us if we wanted maid service the next day and we declined. We stopped by the office the next day and picked up clean towels. We were there to go canoeing, so we had a group of 10 people. The office has a cornhole board you can borrow, which we did. We set up in the parking lot near the end of the motel because there were too many bugs on the grass. There was also a fire pit we took advantage of later that night. The 1st & 2nd floor has an overhanging balcony and they have chairs and a small table set up in front of each one. Made it feel more cosy. There was a picnic table and on the first floor and a grill. We brought our own propane grill and cooked dinner and laid out the spread on the table. Made for a nice night. Dinner, cornhole & fire. It's definitely a motel and has a motel vibe. Not very updated inside but was very clean. Fridge & microwave in the room which we appreciated. Shower worked well and it had basic amenities. If you want upscale toiletries bring your own. The owners were very nice and didn't mind our late night partying. All in all an enjoyable trip. Don't expect the Ritz, but if you need a clean place to stay for your canoe trip, this is it.

We very much enjoyed our stay here with friendly staff, a well kept king suite, and salt water hot tub and pool!! I love the salt water by the way!! We didn't get headaches from heavy chlorine and I hear the salt water is easier on bathing suits too. The temps were perfect in both the pool and hot tub. The pool is small but it serves its purpose. We did not partake of the complementary breakfast as we had other arrangements. The king suite was extremely comfortable and very clean. The only thing was the shower left something to be desired. I think it could use a good clean something like lime away? The jets shot out in every direction. It was quite annoying. Otherwise everything was wonderful and we plan on returning next year.
