Other adults went to the final formal wedding in afternoon and evening in Sintra, and I stayed to watch the children. They were on their best behavior and enjoyed pool, pool deck, beach, and room service for dinner. The breakfast each morning in the beautiful restaurant was fantastic. While this is definitely an "adult" hotel and not so geared to children, we made it work--and they behaved with good manners. The service is A-plus. Stunning views everywhere!

I engaged in a colossal waste of time simply trying to change my reservation at this hotel, only to learn its partner "Luxury Escapes" is somehow connected to third-party booking agent Expedia. This is not disclosed on "Luxury Escapes" website. Deceptive? The Albatroz staff throw their hands in the air and claim they cannot help you change a reservation. I decided not to re-book a future stay at this hotel based on this interaction. Beware-- if you book thru "Luxury Escapes" you may actually be dealing with a restrictive third-party agent, and this hotel will not help you unwind that.

Located just a brief 10 min walk from the adorable Marina, it is centrally located with a gorgeous view of the water. There is always someone to open the door for you on your arrival and you're greeted with a gorgeous spacious entrance into the hotel. Service is great -- especially the cleaners for the room. They would visit my room twice a day to endure I had water, that my slippers with ready for me beside my bed, a little chocolate each night before bed... their attention to detail made me think they should train other teams in the world. The grounds are beautiful complete with a pool with a gorgeous water view, a highly rated fancy restaurant that won't break the bank, a good breakfast buffet, a state of the art gym, a spa, and very spacious rooms and bathrooms. This hotel was great for a work conference and they handled hundreds of people with ease. This is a great example of how a top tier hotel should be ran. Outstanding!

Not long after we checked in, we received little desserts waiting for us in our room. The bedding, the bathroom, the balcony views were absolutely spectacular. We truly loved the complimentary indoor spa, it was very relaxing. The restaurants also serve some amazing food and cocktails. For an extra charge, the hotel was able to provide us transportation from the airport; they even arranged private transportation to drop us off at our airbnb when we had to check out the next day. The transportation service was great and very informative, we wound up using them to take us to the Sintra one day during our trip. We unfortunately only stayed one night and I wish we stayed longer, my husband constantly talk about coming back here. Cascais is an absolute gem of a town and I highly suggest spending a night here if you are ever in the area.

Let's start with the good: -Very clean…read more-Incredibly friendly staff (special shout-out to the evening front desk manager who helped us navigate the trains and even gave us his fare card) -good location (very easy walk to downtown and near lots of museums) -incredible view Okay, so now onto the not so good: -It appears much more spacious online. There is only one restaurant and one bar (pool bar was closed for the season by the time we traveled). Also, the restaurant is only an over-priced buffet for all meals. No thanks! They claim to have a jacuzzi, but we never did find it. The room was not nearly as large was depicted. -Now onto the room...the bed was rock hard! It was like sleeping on a board. Plus the sheet was too short for the bed so your feet got caught on it each night. Our room was supposed to have a queen bed...it was two independent twin beds shoved together and made separately. This was fine, as I was traveling with my mom, but still odd. We had a kitchenette...the fridge door kept falling off (even after asking for repairs) and the oddest set of dishes to fill it. No knife for cutting. No wine glasses (but we did have ice cream sundae glasses?). No way to make coffee or tea. No free safe...daily fee that amounted to nearly 20 euro for the week. Very poor lighting with questionable safety on some of the lamps. The tub sat at such a height difference above the floor that getting out (without handrails) was always precarious. -Other stuff: Breakfast was included for most but not us (we were using TimeShare points). This was really disappointing and made for uncomfortably hungry mornings. Plus, without a way to make coffee in the room, this really sucked. In all, if I were to return to Cascais, I would not plan to stay here. There are plenty of other options in this adorable little town.

It has an air of sophistication. The views are stunning while you eat breakfast or dine in one of the two restaurants. But what makes this place amazing is the staff. They are very attentive, helpful and lovely. Barbara the receptionist is a gem with her recommendations and her demeanor you really feel like you are being treated like royalty. Everyone who we have encountered are fabulous!! The breakfast chef and crew are vibrant and helpful the food was delicious!! Cascais appears to be extremely windy in May but it is a wonderful place to visit.

The staff at the reception desk is very friendly en welcoming when we arrived. We booked one of the villas. The get to the villa you have to walk 20 minutes from the hotel. So every morning to get to the breakfast restaurant or get to the pool, you have to walk. It is possible to ask the reception to pick you up at your villa. The breakfast is really good. The pool has a beautiful view but the water is very cold. The villa is a bit outdated. It's not very comfortable to sit outside at the patio. The WiFi in the villa and the rest of the hotel is very good. Don't rent the bikes, the are old and very expense and our bike was broken. I give only 3 stars because I don't think our villa deserves the predicate of a 5 star hotel.

I booked a reservation for 3 nights at Villa Cascais, and received a confirmation from the…read morereception desk, which included their cancellation policy "If you need to cancel or modify your reservation, please do so at least 7 days before your scheduled arrival". With 34 days notice, I emailed the hotel to let them know I needed to cancel. I did not hear back from them, so proceeded to call the hotel with 33 days notice. The receptionist at the hotel verified that she had cancelled the reservation over the phone. I made alternative non-refundable plans to visit a different city, then received an email stating that my reservation was non-refundable, and that the original email from the hotel stating the 7 day cancellation policy, plus the telephone cancellation, were both "regrettably made by (their) human error". They claim that they sent a second email that "may be in my spam folder". I would not have made an alternate plan, had their policies been aligned. It is absolutely unacceptable that this hotel is not owning up to their two human errors.

The pool has gone dry, and most of the units have been sold and are privately occupied. Kaza Portugal still maintains a few that can be rented out short-term. We have a nice little apartment overlooking the harbour, the Tagus estuary, and down the coast past Estoril. It has a kitchen, bath and bedroom. amd a nice balcony, not fancy but quite comfortable. Wi-fi and TV are included. The bus lines are close, or one can walk to the city center in about 20 minutes, either along the roads, or by going down Rua las quintas to the bottom of the valley and following the trail along the creek until it comes out in back of Cascais mercado. The bus to Cabo do Roca and Sintra also stops conveniently close to here. The GIRO bus to the Cascais Shopping Center stops right in front.
