I should have read the reviews before I went on line. I went on line and started the process to enroll. I misunderstood their process but paid. They contacted me the next stating they could not enroll my daughter unless they knew which grade she was in and we had to show proof. I told them what grade via email and they stated in order to enroll, I would have to pay more money and my daughter would need to be in the program for a year. I told them that I misunderstood and this was not the program for us. They refunded my money and kept $50 for themselves stating it was their refund policy for enrollments! Uh, bruh, read your own emails to me. I never enrolled into anything. Wow! Anyone who does business like this, was not the right place for me. It has to be about the students and not the money. read more

I am older, smarter and wiser. Retrospectively this place was utterly useless. As I analyze my education history Karen Dillard's college prep was a disastrous waste of money. I don't even remember how much my mom paid but I can assure you it was a regrettable amount. The teachers were clearly past their prime, absolutely phoning it in, and there were these younger, I am assuming College TA, types that worked the front desk and administered practice test, that were so rude and sarcastic. I get it, I was there to improve my test scores but I wasn't wearing a helmet. In the end I ditched the course. I wound up getting into TCU, SMU, UT, UNT, UTA and very little of that modest success has to do with this business. There was an older english teacher named Suzie. She was great. But the rest of the joint was useless. read more

My child has attended KD for almost a year now and we have had mixed reviews about the place. The teachers are okay some really great some rude and had no interest in being there. One employee from KD that has always been exceptionally kind and resourceful is Elizabeth from the Plano Campus. She is amazing and deserves all the recognition. My daughter loves her and I do too. 5 stars for Elizabeth 4 for KD. read more

My two daughters have participated in KD College Prep's program as middle school students, and now my oldest daughter is a high school student. The instructors cared and helped my younger students stay on track and connect to the material. The course material is challenging enough to help them prepare, and the instructors do an excellent job showing the students how to use the recommended strategies. As a result, my eldest daughter has already had a 200-point improvement in her score! read more

Overall a great place for SAT prep. While some ACT stuff is offered, SAT is the primary focus of KD. I took classes over this pass summer of 2019 and, while it wasn't the most entertaining thing, I learned a lot of useful techniques and got a lot of practice. I improved my score by roughly 80 points and if it weren't for college app deadlines I'm certain I would've scored about 120-150 points higher. Despite others interactions with staff, I can characterize mine as: friendly, helpful and informative. The teachers were kind and I really enjoyed the staff at the front desk. Not a whole lot of diversity in that almost all students are of Asian decent, and while I am not, I didn't feel out of place at all. I highly recommend KD and have an experience that is quite different than some of those who have reviewed KD P.S- not in any disrespect to those other reviewers but they seem a bit sensitive (again no disrespect), and did not regard the quality of their test preparation. read more

Yelp won't let me give KD more than five stars, so I have to settle for only five. Karen Dillard's (KD) is the ONLY reason I am a National Merit Finalist. It is a bit pricey, and most students hate coming here everyday, but once you get your scores back, you'll be very happy with the hard work you've put in and sticking with KD. I had trouble in both the writing and critical reading section - my starting scores were extremely embarrassing. Working with KD increased my SAT almost 450 points. They provide a structured environment that helps you prepare for college entrance exams. In addition, they also organize several information sessions that help you with various stages through college application process. I am sure many students do well without KD. However, I know that if I hadn't signed up and gotten their help, I would not be attending my dream school right now. read more

The lessons are very vague and the teachers are bored. I thought the lessons would emulate the type of notes and teaching at school, but it's not. You have to pay the whole price for a few years in advance. Overall, I had higher expectations for this place as it came highly recommended. read more

I'm 29 now but I went to kd. When I was in 10th this old lady worked there and had been working there for awhile as one of the teachers. She called roll and I told her that was me but I went by a different name (a name that was harder to pronounce but was still my name). She very rudely asked "Why" and everyone laughed. Then I smiled because I was uncomfortable and told her it's ok you can jus call me by my given name. I still think about that because I was so humiliated and embarrassed and self-conscious. That this white Woman, in a class of Asians and Indians would have the nerve to ask me why I go by a different name (my middle name, an ethnic Indian name). I hope this white devil got hit by a truck. Fuck Karen Dillard's (also look up the huge lawsuit against her). She's a bitch. David's nice though. read more

They lost my ID a few years back and a person working there (Hunter) wouldn't let the class start. It was a huge class. "Who didn't check in?" After nobody admitted, he had everyone stand up in the classroom and did a row call. Of course I was the last one standing. That was the most shameful experience I had as a high school student. Imagine everybody staring at you in silence as Hunter accused me of not checking in. I tried so hard to hold back tears during the rest of the class (yes...it was that bad). They later admitted outside they had lost my ID. No apology was given for the crap I went through. Unprofessional. read more
