We've been at the pool…read morefor 5 years and every year, I'm excited to see the people I haven't seen all winter and that I'll be seeing almost daily for the rest of the summer. I think the community is great! We also have an awesome swim team that has climbed up to Division 2 this summer, so if you're looking for a great swim coach where your kids can swim competitively, this pool is it. The swim team is also big enough that your kids will have plenty of friends to choose from. There's a nice cohort or about 5-6 girls and 5-6 boys in each age group for your kids to gel with and my kids look forward to playing with their swim friends after practice. If you're looking at VAC verses Dunn Loring, I personally prefer VAC because: -the pool is set back from the road so you don't hear street noise -the pool has trees to provide shade for the mornings and evenings - I've heard about friends who are Dunn Loring members getting awful sunburns -the fee to become a member at VAC is refundable when you end your membership, unlike Dunn Loring -we only have one pool but it has 8 lanes making for much faster swim meets. Swim meets at Dunn Loring seem to last forever.

We've never gotten food before for volunteering at swim meets! As for the pool itself, it's got plenty of parking and has good shade cover over most of the pool in the mornings. There is an awesome snack bar (Shark Shake) offering warm food including mozzarella sticks and pizza. Some of the facilities were a little older (eg, the bathroom), but I like to think the pool has chosen to spend its money on things like being hospitable and offering food to volunteers. This is a great community pool in the middle of a neighborhood that I'm sure is valued by the people who live nearby.

It's such a great spot to burn summer energy and also practice water skills. I found the lifeguards to be really attentive and constantly counting the swimmers in their sections. My kids absolutely love the big and small waterslides and rode them about 20 times over the course of an hour or two. Even just a few days before the Fourth of July holiday, because we were there first thing, there were no lines, and things ran smoothly. I'm excited to check it out again, perhaps at a bit busier time, but it was great for our first visit.

For years, there's been a crack that causes water to leak out and flow into the street however in 2014, the opening week, a section of the pool collapsed and sank a couple of inches. Patrons keep stubbing their toes and/or cutting their toes on the edge of the cracks. I was surprised this was not identified or fixed before opening the pool. Historically, the pool has had problems finding lifeguards who were focused on the safety of the patrons. Many parents would have to complain to the pool board before they would address our concerns about the guards goofing off and/or not even watching the pool. This years guards mostly came back from last year and under the current Pool Manager's guidance, I think we will have a nice, SAFE summer! This is the best group of guards I can remember in 12 years. If the Pool Board were to invest in the repairs of the pool and make it physically safe for the patrons and not literally wastefully pouring 100s of gallons of water out, I would immediately increase the number of stars on my rating for them.

I think this one was slightly better maintained, and it was the only one open before 4pm on weekdays (the hours can be kind of confusing). The main pool is a good size, and has some lap lanes. There's also a separate shallow kiddy pool and a separate hot tub! It's a great option if you want some sun and fresh air and to do something fun but closer to home. I'm shorely not kidding that I'd recommend this spot!

There a lot of social activities (float nights, water aerobics, trivia and movie nights, a chili cookoff, and the most family-friendly and best flamingo party by far), and one of the club members volunteers as our local DJ--he is fantastic! It's so nice to not have to cook two evenings in summer. Wednesdays the grill is fired up with hamburgers (usually $3) and hotdogs (usually $2) along with chicken, tacos, or brisket, depending on the night; Fridays we have a food truck come. The snack shack has health options and probably more selection than some larger neighborhood pools. My kids (now 9 and 12) practically live at the pool all summer long. It's great that the older teens and younger kids (even at 6 and 7) all play together--volleyball, foosball, jenga. It really builds a sense of a village. And it's been fun watching kids who were in elementary school when we joined now be lifeguards. The tween/teen swim team members teach the littles (3+) to swim through our Little Flippers Program, which is ridiculously inexpensive! Both of my kids are graduates of that program. There is a lot of shade during the day which is great for a break from the bright sun. The price may be shocking, but it is well worth it.

They are nice, well maintained, and soo pleasant. I especially loved the setup of this Glade Pool. It has a decent sized free swim area, swimming lanes, a water slide, diving board, and even a hot tub (that was reallyyy awesome). Along with the pool there are some tennis courts, a park, and walking paths that are all considered a part of Glade. It's setup, man. I believe it is $10 for a visitors pass, or you can get a season pass and if you'd come a decent amount and are in the area the season pass is the way to go.
