Keeton is dope! I was highly surprised at the course management for the price we paid. I played a Friday evening time and the pace was great. The cart girl stayed until around 7:45pm which was nice to have that option. The course layout is challenging but also fair and open so it worked well for mid to high handicappers. Course was ok, and it was not too busy when I went during the week. The gps cart kept stalling out for no reason (we followed the instructions to stay on the path). They acknowledged they were working through the kinks of a new system, but it was still annoying to deal with. I had to call the pro shop 2-3 as a result of the issue. read more

Keeton Park Golf Course in Dallas, Texas was highly recommended for me and two other (African American) pastors to play while visiting the city for a seminar. Unfortunately, as we were enjoying our round, we were "SHOT AT" several times from a wooded area on the 10th hole of the golf course. We immediately stopped and reported the incident at the clubhouse, but no one on staff took any responsibility or inquiry into the matter. There was no higher authority in management that we could speak to, nor did anyone bother to call the police or file a report. Played the 2nd weekend in December and the course was in great shape for a municipal course. The staff is friendly and the facilities are well maintained. No beverage cart on the course so they are missing a money maker there. Food in the club house is pretty good. Tacos were great. As far as strategy goes...don't just plan to pray and spray...you can get in trouble. This course makes you think a bit. Really enjoyed playing here. read more

First off, Calvin in the pro shop needs a raise. He went above and beyond in assisting us. We had some issues with renting our scooters due to possible server issues but he did everything he could to get us going, and the experience wouldn't have been possible without him. The course is well designed and provides a good number of challenges. The scooters were a lot of fun, and I'd definitely go back to ride them again. I hope they become staples in every golf course. Top 9 holes 1. Par 5 with on the back 9 with the river and woods to your right, lake in the middle/right, and the PGA regulated water filter in the middle 2. Dead straight Par 4 with trees on every side of you. So gay 3. Par 5 with lake straight ahead and then after you drive you and get to your ball you realize that's when the hole starts. Also has puddles throughout the whole thing 4. Par 3 on back 9 that just has a massive lake between you and the hole and you drive over a bridge to get to 5. First par 3 on the back 9 next to the driving range. Not much to complain about just a piece of shit hole 6. First hole cuz when you slice it behind the trees into the next hole people just steal your ball and you never find it 7. 18th hole. Just so mentally drained from the other shitty holes at this point 8. 2nd hole, par 3. Too many bunkers and too close to the first hole so everyone behind you is already on your ass to start the day 9. Just want to reiterate my hatred for one par 5 read more

What a beautiful course nestled way back in the hood. Most people wouldn't think to venture out to this part of town and definitely not to play some golf. This is a municipal golf course and also home to the Tony Martinez golf school. Mr. Martinez is a highly ranked golf instructor by his peers and a variety of golf publications. I went to a golf clinic and various parts of the course were made available to the group. The head golf pro was very helpful and went over some simple golf tips that I had never heard before but I am a newbie. I can't wait to get back a play a round or three of golf here. I wonder if they will let me play with those Nike VR clubs I got a chance to try today. It was a little tough going back to my antiquated set I have. read more

I had played this course a 100 years ago when I was little but then not again until the other day. It was inexpensive and in surprisingly good shape for a muni course. The design is great with some very good risk reward shots. It is over 6,500 yards from the tips so not just a chip and put type course. It is not in the greatest part of town, but it is also an oasis in that part of town. You are surrounded by the Trinity forest and some marshes and water. It doesn't even feel like North Texas to me. I definitely enjoyed Keeton Park. read more

Price, quality, challenge - this place has it all! I'd heard about this course from a guy I played with a few months ago. I normally play over at the Luna Vista course in Irving, but yesterday (Sunday) I decided to try someplace new. So, I drove to this course, and I'm glad I did! It took maybe a 1/2 hour to get to - there was no traffic in Dallas that morning (around 10 AM). The guy at the counter was wicked friendly, and hooked me up. I went out on my own, and soon caught up to the 3 people in front of me, who let me play with them. They were freaking hilarious and I had a blast playing with them! Playing alone is boring - I like golfing with other people for sure! The course itself is in EXCELLENT shape. I think I only noticed one green with a touch of brown/damage to it - but all the others were awesome - clean, smooth - just really nice. The first 5-6 holes are pretty narrow! Think of it as "challenging"! But after that, it really opens up. There is some water on this course, and it always surprises me how much water there is around these Texas golf courses (I'm originally from Boston). There are beer carts that go around, the clubhouse is small, but clean and the staff are really helpful and friendly. It's a great value, too: 18 holes with a cart will run you like $30 or so? It's also nice and QUIET: A lot of places I play have planes flying overhead or gun ranges nearby. This place has neither, and that alone earns it an extra star! Not a bad municipal course. Plenty of water to make it challenging. Putting greens were not the best maintained and were pretty inconsistent the last time I went. Yardages are not terribly long, so getting on in two is not an impossibility on the par 5's. You're looking at around $35 for the weekends including cart. I'll swing back around, but probably not until I've tried out some other courses first. Unless you live around in the area, there's not a huge reason to come. read more

I'm giving Keeton Park 4 stars more because of the practice facilities than the course. I've only played the course once and it was years ago, and generally not that memorable like most of the Dallas munis (sauf Tenison Highlands and Stevens Park). KP has a nice range with good grass and good targets. Chipping area is very nice as well with a very good green. Practice green is sufficient, rolls better than most muni courses. Overall, I was very impressed with the practice facilities. read more

Nice design, great price, most of the course was in good condition, and it had a nice clubhouse -- but the greens were awful. I've never seen so much sand on a green, I'm surprised there weren't rakes on the fringe. **Update: Played Keeton again recently and I have to say that while they weren't perfect, the greens were in much better shape, certainly playable. Nice track for when you just want to get out there and don't want to be sandwiched between two foursomes. read more

The day started out fine, but was quickly ruined. We were coming up to the green of the first hole when an attendant drove up to us and said we had to pick up the pace. I looked back and a bunch of old guys had their hands in the air signaling us to hurry....On the first hole. Later on at around hole 7 I distinctly heard one of them say "Lets go, lets go, lets go"......Ok, boomer. After that we finished 9 holes and were done. If this is how golfers act, and how the team is going to treat us, then it's definitely turned me off to playing golf again. read more

The new greens are awesome. The staff is simply the best I've encountered and that starts with Head Pro Tony Martinez and works all the way down to the cart boys. New greens last year and they are nice and the price is great. New carts late last year too. You won't find a better city course anywhere or any other course that matches quality for price. read more
