He is exactly what you would expect of a Cotswolds local chap who is retired and sharing his love of the English countryside with visitors. They picked us up in Moreton on the Marsh--an hour train ride from Paddington station. We had a beautiful Fall day in between days of rain so felt extremely lucky because the views are absolutely stunning. Michael and David showed us a number of villages and we got out to hear about the history of Chipping Camden as we walked about a beautiful old church and village. We drove on and stopped in Broadway (more touristy but nice shops to pop into and houses to see) and had lunch at their local pub, the Mount Inn in Stanton, which we all enjoyed. Michael made us a reservation at a long table with a view which was beautiful and cozy. They served up everything from oysters, to cheese plates, paninis, venison burgers and caesar salads. Our day ended just as the sun was going down (at 16:30) and we made it onto a 16:40 train back to London. I can't recommend Michael enough--he is expensive (we gave a nice gratuity), but not if you are sharing between families and in my opinion his demeanor and knowledge were well worth it--an overall wonderful introduction to the Cotswolds and an experience we will never forget. A side bar--we loved the off peak experience, but can only imagine how picturesque the landscape of lavender farms, sheep grazing and rolling hills would be in high season...might need to book Michael for a late Spring day tour.

Their tagline was correct in our case. If you are in gloucester we will take care of your transport needs. There is one thing though they didint have online payment option which i would have liked a lot but i heard recently they did install payment gateway. Not sure yet but i think they have.

I like this roadside service place - Reckon it's among the best I've been to in the UK!…read more Apart from gas or as the locals call it, fuel for the car, there's tons of food choices (Leon, Costa coffee, McDonald's, Chozen Noodle & Fresh Food Cafe) and there's a pharmacy (Boots) there is also a shop (Cotton Traders) that was selling jackets, socks, gloves and boots just in case you're missing anything! (Am assuming it changes to the appropriate seasonal clothing in the summer) And the Spar grocery store had Tyrells Crisps! Rather than individual store reviews, a round-up of the 3 we patronized: - Leon's was FABULOUS service - Veronika & Chloe gave us a deconstructed fish roll as mum didn't like the wrap. Plus love the water jugs with mint leaves - SPAR was a bit expensive but had end of day deals on sandwiches which were a £1 off - Fresh Food cafe's fries tasted stale (so very ironic with their name!) There were also tons of women's loos in the bathroom, and a bloke was cleaning them. Couple that with lots of parking available too, and so really quite happy we stopped here! But it marks the junction where you turn off the M5 to get to Wales, and I nearly always make a point of stopping here before tackling the M50 if I'm heading that way. It's got all the usual stuff that you would expect, WH Smiths, Costa, etc. I like the open-plan seating area in the centre that caters for all the food stands. As the services are essentially located on the M50 slip road, if you're heading back on to the M5 southbound from here, you have to negotiate a roundabout to get back onto the main motorway.
