He guided and advised us on strategizing with our offer so that the seller would pick us. I interviewed 3 realtors, focussing on getting them to tell me why I should pick them over other realtors given that they all charged 3%. Weak replies included 'good photographs in flyers' and 'I'm trustworthy'. Maureen stood out, she had a record of selling properties at ground-breaking prices, within her charges she included having the home professionally staged, she was charming, responsive, had lived in my condominium for 4 years and specialised in condo sales for 10 years. The choice was easy. The other realtors would have given me a booklet on how to stage my home and expected me to do it. Maureen was a winner all the way. The stager walked me round my home making it clear what I need to pack/remove. Maureen provided boxes and I packed all my books, religeous artefacts, CD's and most of my decorative items then the sategers arrived with their own decorative items and spent a day preparing the house. It looked fabulous! Over the next few weeks a steady trickle of people passed through. One couple looked 3 times and bought their parents. They then made a very low offer. Maureen was outraged on my behalf. Then we made a counter offer just below the asking prices and the sale progressed smoothly from there, fast and efficient. Maureen seemed to sense what I needed, she called to give progress reports, she even gave me a lift from work to signing the Escrow documents. Her attention to detail and sense of proportion is very confidence inspiring. Maureen has sold my condo for a record-breaking price for the floor-plan in a slump, in the fall. She used "her people" to get the house ready for sale and there were serious problems with most of them. We had to spend more money to undo the damage they did. We had never sold a house before and definitely learned a lot and are extremely disappointed at the service she provided for a huge commission she made in providing 4 open houses. One of the selling points she presented was she would be at every open house, which we thought was important. Than the time came and she said an assistant agent would be at one of them, not her. We only had one offer in a hot market and it was from a real estate agent. I felt she was communicating with this agent to our disadvantage and not putting our interests first. I've rented from multiple property management companies from California to New York City to Seattle and hands down Larry has been the best property manager of them all. He has always been incredibly realistic, level headed(and believe me I've had some real reactive characters for property managers), and ALWAYS reasonable during my three years here. He's managed my unit for over 25 years and continues to take great care of it. Recently, I ran into electrical issues (somewhat expected due to the age of the building but also not ideal as it is winter in Washington brrrr!) and even while abroad, he had an electrician in my unit the very next day. No only is he responsive and tackles issues quickly but he also understands that in property management, it is important to have the right workers/contractors etc to ensure the job is done right.
