It is also pretty spacious with several lockers, stalls, and showers. We shared a table underneath the shaded area. We had a great time in the pool. It got a little busy around 2pm but there was still plenty of space to enjoy ourselves. The lifeguards were very attentive.

Our 10 year old completed a quick swim test so she could use the 6 foot deep section. Jill, the lifeguard, took the time to administer the test and made the process easy. Molly at the front desk was incredibly helpful and also kept the concession stand running smoothly. There are 10-minute breaks every hour when everyone gets out of the pool. It was well organized and gave everyone a chance to rest. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

It is the best laid out pool I've ever been to, including depths from 2 ft to 9 ft to accommodate all ages and swim levels. The slide and diving board, volleyball net and basketball goal provide plenty of entertainment. A separate kiddie pool makes it ultra safe for little ones. So I think this YMCA is really good in some ways, but less good in others. The front desk is really friendly and the cardio has Netflix, and had my sign in details, so that was good. On the other hand, they have big Jesus posters on the wall, and putting a banner in the cardio is lame. And there are a few issues such as are the kids coming around and cleaning the machines in the middle of the workout, and they were spraying their bottles and sweeping up dust and literally I could smell dust, made me sneeze, almost cough, during cardio, and literally I got sprayed (ew) with a little bit of spray (ew) but that's not the kids fault because they are being instructed to do so by the boss here, who was following them around, ordering them to clean more. They should be doing that when no one is working out because that's why we pay more than enough. And that stuff is toxic AF and it shouldn't be sprayed near me... let alone making me wet from spray... during my cardio. On the good side: The shower pressure is a huge thing and I appreciate that, even though a lot of the lockers are disappointingly reserved for members. It could easily have received a 3 star for the religion in my face and spray on my body and dust up my nose, but I'll generously give 4 because it was an otherwise good facility. My little wanted to go to a museum, so when I found that Morrow Mountain State Park not only had a…read moremuseum but a scenic overlook, I knew we needed to visit. A very quick drive later, we were at the State Park and enjoying all that it had to offer. I appreciate that the roads within the State Park are paved, as the terrain can be steep at times and with the rains we've had, a gravel road would have washed out. The museum is small, but highly informative. I learned so many new things about Stanly County and the types of rocks and minerals found within the county. After the museum, we drove around the State Park, exploring the many camping sites, seeing the Kron house, and ending up at the scenic overlook. There was one hairpin turn that you have to be careful with when meeting oncoming vehicles, but it was a very serene drive. I thought it was awesome they had a "summit snack bar" that was open, although we didn't wander over. The views are breathtaking! Such a great place to visit on a weekend or during the week when time permits.

There is tons of seating available, typically a four chair, table and umbrella set up. There are some tables kind of tucked away in pretty spots but these are all first come first serve so arrive early. This establishment is CASH ONLY. The water is not "pool clean". There is a lot of sand everywhere and the water looks more like lake water. CAREFUL!! Stairs, paths and walkways are NOT level, or the same size; watch your step. The place is a bit run down and I didn't notice any life guards. But nothing looked hazardous. There are plenty of entry and exit points into and out of the water. The shallow end is 9inches and the deep end is 9ft In the women's bathroom there was only one "changing stall" - such as it was - and two toilets that were working questionably. For little ones: They can hang out in the shallow end, or go down the assortment of little slides. The 16 month old with us had a fun time. For big kids/adults: There is a rope swing, a large slide and a volley ball net. The 17 and 21 year old with me had fun. 12 and under could probably spend all day here. (At $8-$11 a person that's not bad!). After a few hours the adult [kids] were bored and ready to go. I did the big slide a few times and it was fun. I could see us potentially going back. It did get quite crowded about 2pm when we were leaving.
