We arrived around 5:30 PM to claim our seats on the lawn, and thankfully we were able to find a parking spot right near the pedestrian bridge across the street. The city posted a very detailed map of parking options on their Instagram page ... and the amazing thing is, not only is all of that parking free, but there is a free shuttle that will take folks back and forth to their spots if they are unable to walk that far (or even if they just don't want to!) The openers started at 7 PM, and then the main act started around 8:15 PM. This gave the crowd plenty of time to get situated in their spots, grab some snacks, hit the restrooms, or even ride the carousel! This was a family-friendly outdoor concert, and they did a great job of having food/drink/activities for both kids and adults to enjoy. A glass of wine or a can of beer was just $5 each ... which felt like a steal since I'm used to spending more than double that for the same pour at other concert venues. The show itself was awesome ... we saw The Fray and they were everything we wanted them to be and more. The sound and lighting were both great. The layout of the park allowed many folks to stay in their folding chairs for the majority of the show, and still be able to see what was going on on-stage. Five stars all around for Village Park and the city of Kannapolis ... more cities should take note of what a great job they are doing here to engage their community!

There are Indoor, family and handicap-friendly bathrooms right off the parking lot. We started with the awesome playground. I think it's great for kids between 2- to 7-years old. Older kids may not find it as exciting. There is a special Toddler area with two play Barnes, a music-making area and two toddler swings. I would love if they added extra toddler swings. Yall know how hard it is to get a toddler to take turns, so the line was a little long.This playground also has 4 big kid swings and a handicap-friendly swing. If you follow the trail past the tennis courts, there is another play area with a super-cool climbing theme. It has an actual climbing wall and a climbing structure with a curvy slide. My 3 year old was able to navigate it with a little coaching. We wrapped up the visit with a walk around the trail. It is mostly paved with some gravel areas. We had no problem pushing the kids' wagon around. They added several nice benches throughout the park. They also added location signs for safety. The picturesque bridges would be great for photos. Extra note, you can play Frisbee golf throughout the park, just follow the trail. They have two picnic shelters, one large and one small. There is also a lot of clear, open space. They did a great job with the renovation and we can't wait to go back.

On a sunny day it's great, but the path floods a bit when it rains. The park was very clean and had conveniently located trash cans throughout. Our first visit was around 5pm so there was tons of shade. We've also been during the middle of the day and the trees still helped out a lot. There are several benches around the playground area so it's easy to relax and keep an eye on your little ones. The playground is equipped for kids of all ages and includes toddler swings. Its learning areas include multiple mazes, sign language boards, letters, shapes, and numbers. The only downfall is the bathrooms. There was no changing station in men's nor women's bathrooms. They were also pretty dirty by the time we got there. For such a family friendly complex, the bathrooms were very disappointing.

This greenway wasn't crowded in the morning when we went. We did 5.4 miles round trip which I believe was the whole greenway, but it connects to other greenways so you could definitely do more if you want. Like many greenways, it passes by houses/neighborhoods. The biggest reason why I love this one is because the houses are gorgeous and so fun to check out as you're walking by. There's plenty of parking at the school if you're there on a weekend. Check it out for your next outdoor activity in the city!

The problem is the people who visit this park are mostly slobs. Garbage strewn throughout the parking lot all the time. Since the grounds crew aren't on-site all day this can be quite annoying. The new sign at the entrance is too big and blocks your view when driving out of the lot until you are almost on the Main Street. Recently, I have seen marijuana usage as well as condoms in multiple areas of the park. More police patrols are needed and possibly a full time staff to address these issues. Otherwise, it's a quiet park during the week and often crazy on the weekends when baseball and softball fields are in use. Dog friendly as well.
