My experience so far has not been good…read more I am one of those people who was recently canceled due to homeowner insurance companies pulling out of Florida. I contacted Hartselle through their online quote form over a week and a half ago on the referral by a friend and never got a reply. I called and called by phone but no answer. Days later someone did finally answer the phone and connected me with an agent. Things were looking up and I sent my 4-point Inspection as requested. Never heard back. In the meantime my current insurance has expired and nobody has responded to my emails or phone messages. I wanted to contact Art Hartselle, the founder of the company, but I can't find anything about him. He is not on their executive team, isn't registered to vote, and doesn't own any property in Pinellas County so I have no way to contact him to let him know about the terrible service I am experiencing. He took the time to explain somethings I didn't understand and verified the insured's policy was active and in good standing. Do not use Melissa Ems Insurance! Trying to find an agency…read morethat is proactive and attentive is difficult. Melissa Ems is neither of these. After our active hurricane season, I needed a quote on both homeowners and flood insurance. I met with Jeff, one of their employees. Jeff is a great salesman, promising to help research and find the best coverage at the lowest price. Once you sign up with Jeff, you never hear from him again. You are forwarded to other employees who are supposed to manage your case. Most often, I would get the office manager Diane, who made excuses saying they had so many clients they couldn't get back to everybody. Wait, what? So my policy can lapse because you have too many people to serve? Find another agency that has the ability to serve all of their clients.

None of them want to help they just say call the insurance company, even for basic information about the policy. It seems that they just like collecting their renewal premiums. Nope. Nothing, was Debi' s answer. So called around, and the first woman I spoke to at another agency asked, "Do you have a Wind Mitigation report? Not knowing anything about that, since I'm NOT IN THE INSURANCE BUSINESS, she explained all I had to do was call a company to get one, and guess what? That $300 report saves me over $2000 a year! That's over $20,000 that Harr and Associates insurance company literally took advantage of me and stole from me. And they will do it to you.
