My first visit in over two years & they have really done a great job giving the aquarium a makeover. Currently you can buy an Annual Pass online for $70 (usually $75) which gives you unlimited access for an entire year. There are some great interactive educational exhibits for the older kids, the only thing missing for a 5 star rating is a proper cafe. The automatic coffee machine (one touch button) does not cut it!! If you haven't visited since the revamp you should definitely pay them a visit.

I went here at the end of last year with some overseas relatives, and enjoyed it far more than I did a few years back. The penguins were adorable and the variety of fish totally jaw dropping. Going around and around on the moving conveyor belt was great fun. However, having been to other underwater worlds, Kelly Tarltons really needs to expand so much more. The price is fair considering it's a private establishment, but you can't help but feel there should've been more to your ticket. Nevertheless, a good place to go in all forms of weather to learn more about the sea and enjoy its creatures.

Some places just seem so much more exciting, impressive and simply bigger when you are a kid, and Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World is definitely one of these places. Is it just me, or did there used to be a much larger variety of fish? Certainly my last visit there was not the same experience as I so fondly remember as a child, but for sure this place is for kids and the kids that I saw were having a great time. Nothing much has changed there over the years in terms of layout, and it does look to be somewhat rundown and tired. Some renovations are what this place desperately needs. The penguin enclosure is sadly rather small and could do with better upkeep. Kelly Tarlton's is pricey and I wouldn't go there again or take any friends from out of town, unless I knew children who wanted to go.

There are heaps of pet food options - not even that much more expensive than the supermarket, and it's the better quality options as well. Recently I went there and a rep from one of the food companies was there giving out samples and explaining the benefits of that new variety so that was helpful. I've also bought excellent cat toys there. The best one has been the cardboard cat throne. It sits at the end of my desk, and my cat sleep on it all the time (instead of sleeping on my keyboard), and the corrugated cardboard is exciting for her to scratch (instead of the couch) so it's a win all round. Also there's a loyalty program.

From pet bedding to food to even clothing, anything you could ever need for your beloved animal you could probably find here, and if you can't then I'm sure the helpful staff would be obliging in helping you on your quest. You can also actually buy animals here as well - on the back wall there is a whole row of sweet looking puppies and kittens, all either curled up sleeping or jumping around playing with the other pets in their cubicle. There is also a rodent and bird room and an aquarium section, so if dogs or cats aren't your thing and you want something slightly smaller then 4 Seasons have still got you sorted. And if you are quite the pet-lover who makes trips to stores like this often, then you can sign up to the 'Grub Club', which gives you pretty sweet perks and discounts.

Stopped at almost all of the stops along the Red Route. Blue Route was less interesting to us. Stop 1- The heart of the city is at the Queens Wharf and the Central Business District. Loved the historic buildings, shops and restaurants. Saw the International Buskers Festival. Watched the boats come into harbor. Stop 2- The Sky Tower is pricy, but gives a great view of the city. A short uphill climb from our hotel apartment. Stop 3- The Art Museum and Albert Park. The Guo Pei exhibit was so interesting. A very eclectic museum. Stop 5- The Auckland War Memorial Museum and the switch to the blue line or red line depending on which way you came. Easy to walk from this stop to the Winter Garden. Stop 6- The Holy Trinity Cathedral. Closed on Auckland Day. Easy to walk from here to Parnell Village and then stop #7. Stop 7- Pick up a lamb or meat pie on the way to this stop. Stop 8- Bastion Point has stunning views of Auckland. The memorial is beautiful as well. Stop 9- The aquarium, because who doesn't love penguins? Happy Feet! Stop 10 - The Winter Garden has the most beautiful flowers in the glass greenhouses. The fernery is interesting, too. Pricy, but we got a great taste of Auckland.

Initially I called Pet Stop, unfortunately they did not have raw pet food, only the freeze dried treats. The sales clerk did suggest I call Amimates, as they are a larger shop and would have more variety. Once I called I spoke with a young man who was very friendly, knowledgeable about their products and patient with my questions. He provided a few options of raw food and dry food then gave me the store hours. Seeing as I had just picked up my dog from quarantine, I needed to get food for him. This shop is the equivalent to a smaller version of Petco in the States. It has all the major food brands (of New Zealand), along with flea treatments, toys, beds and other pet essentials. The staff is very friendly and helpful and of course they loved Titus. Although I prefer smaller Mom & Pop shops, this one will do for now.

Animals need things, I have a dog and he needs many things, pee pads, eye wash, anti dandruff shampoo, toys, treats and so on and this all adds up. Great thing is Animates have a club you can join so when you get to 300 points you get a $10 voucher. This is quite good because it doesn't take as long as you think. There are in store specials, buy 2 get 1 free sort of thing and other discounts and offers that you would not get from a smaller pet store. This place is usually mega busy, especially on the weekends. Three cool things about this pet store, 1) you can take your pet inside on a lead so they can come shopping with you 2) they have a store cat that hangs out in the fish and aquarium section and 3) the staff give out treats to your dog. A great shopping experience for both animal and owner.

I was mostly interested in seeing the animals of Australia and New Zealand. There was a pretty good displayed variety in each section . I spent the whole day at the zoo, and don't regret it one bit ! The only thing I regret was not being able to really see the kiwi. They are nocturnal and the enclosure that they are in is extremely dark and hard to see. I did see one for a short amount of time belong into a bush. I definitely recommend this for families or anybody visiting from outside of the region

There are cafes, toilets and rest stops thoughtfully located and convenient for visitors. The animals are well cared for and I saw abundant staff and volunteers throughout the visit. We ate lunch at Te Puna cafe that overlooked the South East Asia section and surprisingly was quite affordable with hot and cold grab and go selections. Highly recommend to visit.
