The museum is free to the public but you are welcome to make a donation if you would like. Donations are forwarded to local charities. The museum began as an autograph collection but when someone included a funeral notice with the autograph, (Joe Louis), Famous Endings resulted.

So, a trip to Amish country and then a side trip to the Warther Museum was the ticket. Earnest Warther was a master carver and he carved a wide array of amazing carvings - mostly of trains. The detail in his carvings is incredible. Warther was sel-taught and he actually made some of his own knives because he could not find what he needed in the stores. His craving and craftmanship is amazing. This is a MUST-SEE attraction in the Dover/New Philadelpha area. Allow at least 2 hours (longer if you have time) to thoroughly enjoy this museum.

They have works from Monet and other well known artists, which was really exciting to see in person. There's a lot to explore, so I'd recommend setting aside a few hours to really take it all in. Just make sure to plan your timing because they close at 5 PM. The staff throughout the museum were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. There's also a large gift shop with lots of unique items and a cafe inside the museum, which is nice if you want to take a break during your visit.

Upon entering you are greeted by a friendly face at the reception desk that is more than happy to answer any questions and provide directions. It is layed out on the main and 2nd floors on both sides of the central hall. The exhibits are absolutely beautiful. They included clothing through the century, jewelry, glass & ceramics, and designs from the university fashion design department. As well as a fabulous exhibit by artist LeRoy Neiman. Everything is exceptionally beautiful. After you spend plenty of time exploring the museum you'll have no problem finding a nice place to relax, eat and have drinks in town. We had a marvelous time today and I'm confident you will too. Do yourself a favor and visit the "Kent State University Museum"... It's amazing.

You want to see as many of the rooms as possible. Pro tip. If you are doing a house and garden tour leave the house thru the front door. This way you don't have to back track the gardens. Out the front door take a right to head along the back of the house and the gardens. Don't miss the greenhouse. The Japanese garden and the really all the gardens are beautiful. It's a nice walk. You can definitely get your steps in. It's a nice afternoon. We spent about 2.5 hours. Could have spent longer. But we were hungry. This was a good experience overall and fun afternoon.

Several years ago I found out that they have special tours at Christmas time where you can tour the house and each room has a different theme and you can also tour the grounds where they have Christmas light displays. I believe the tickets this past Christmas or $28 each which goes towards keeping up the estate and grounds. I feel like that's a fair price. There is so much to see in the estate and out on the grounds and I suggest coming here during the year as well for a regular tour. The Christmas decor is so beautiful each room in the estate is typically sponsored by a local business. It's so interesting to see some of the old furniture, dishes, light fixtures, truly whatever you can think of it's all so beautiful. They even have a greenhouse on the property where you can go to purchase plants, especially poinsettias for the Christmas season. They have a little concession stand where they sell things like hot chocolate, coffee, wine and beer, cookies, chili, soft pretzels, etc. Santa even stops by during certain hours where you can visit him. Overall, this is one of my favorite places to visit during the Christmas season and as a child I loved coming here during the year.

(Even though my husband and I are Members). ‍ A friend of mine sent me a note that the botanical gardens have free admission in June for a anyone with Rose in their name. Whoohoo. I brought my aunt Rose and godmother for a day out. She just turned 80, what a nice way to get out. Even on a 95 degree day, the gardens were beautiful. Sun, shade and the inside garden with the butterfly release. They also had educational tables set up. I think there are a handful of volunteers that do a wonderful job. Julie checked us in and was very helpful. This is a great place to walk wonderfully curated gardens. There is beauty in every corner. I'm definitely coming back to use my membership and enjoy the beauty here. (Just maybe not on a 95 degree day again). Hahaha.
