I feel so blessed to live in Cleveland! We have the most amazing cultural opportunities. I haven't been to the botanical graces for years. (Even though my husband and I are Members). ‍ A friend of mine sent me a note that the botanical gardens have free admission in June for a anyone with Rose in their name. Whoohoo. I brought my aunt Rose and godmother for a day out. She just turned 80, what a nice way to get out. Even on a 95 degree day, the gardens were beautiful. Sun, shade and the inside garden with the butterfly release. They also had educational tables set up. I think there are a handful of volunteers that do a wonderful job. Julie checked us in and was very helpful. This is a great place to walk wonderfully curated gardens. There is beauty in every corner. On a perfect weather day, I joined a friend to marvel at the beauty provided at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. Inside, we wished the 50-year-old tortoise a happy birthday. Then a mallard duck welcomed us as we ventured outside to the green vistas amidst the numerous bubbling fountains. Flora of every hue dotted our paths. The Botanical Gardens are really lovely, and the outdoor gardens are the high point of a visit. The indoor greenhouses are beautiful, but there are only 2, and they're small compared to others. Outside, there are numerous planned beds and green spaces. I love the herb garden and the Japanese Garden. They have a pretty solid line up of special events, both in addition to and included with your admission. If you're really feeling a walk, you can get to Little Italy from the gardens, or if you're less walk-y, it's about a 5 minute ride. read more

We came here for a wedding reception and was really looking forward to taking in the scenery and gardens prior to the reception. Unfortunately, it was raining the whole day. The only thing we got to enjoy was indoors, but we can tell that the outside would had been such a good view if weather permits. First off, as a parent don't bring your kids here until they're of an age to appreciate this. There are better places to take them. This was part of a planned vacation visit. We live close but it's hard visiting a bunch in one day then driving 45m home and unloading so we vacation locally. The ambiance here is amazing. Quiet zones, places to sit and eat. Expansive walking areas and a sunny side with informative herbs. It was designed by CWU and it really is breathtaking. The stuff in the arboretum is a bit more touristy and fun, but the sheer amount of moving water and calming plants are relaxing and extraordinary. read more

The Cleveland Botanical Garden is so worth the trip. This specific visit was to see the orchid show and it did not disappoint. The orchids were spread out through the facility and all of the displays were so thoughtful. We ended up walking through twice because it was so enjoyable. It is a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Parking is accessible in the garage, but sometimes you can find parking on the street. Staff and volunteers are always helpful. I'm leaving a review for FROST. It was horribly overpriced! For $28 all you get are some plants, gingerbread houses and innocuous winter decor. I would've appreciated it much more if I didn't pay that ticket price. Unless they make it significantly less expensive (at least half the price) or make it more interesting, I do not recommend a visit. read more

For $30, it was a bit disappointing. I came to see an event featuring 'Shojoji Japanese dancers and koto players.' How can I put this nicely... Let's just say the dancers were not the of caliber one would expect for a group performing at the Cleveland Botanical Garden on a Saturday in summer. In addition, it seemed most of the show was one lady telling historical anecdotes vaguely related to anything to do with the connection between Cleveland and Japanese people, while the other dancers stood around. I walked around outside waiting for them to finish, but the Japanese garden was closed for a wedding. On the day they hold a Japanese event, they close the Japanese garden. Hm. Went back in to see the koto players but they STILL weren't on. On top of that, there were no butterflies in the butterfly garden. Weird. And I think some of the flowers outside are mislabeled; and many cool plants that should be pointed out - over half - are missing any signage at all. Be sure to park on the street - free on weekends - instead of in their overpriced parking garage. read more

With the holiday season winding down I was craving some gingerbread viewing, and this is the place for amazing gingerbread creations. I had been once before back in 2020 and I had heard that the Christmas exhibits have expanded. In a word, wow! The 'FROST' exhibit featured gorgeous indoor displays - really stunning and original - as well as outdoor decorations and lights. And they still had the many indoor Christmas trees decorated in themes. This is a great place to visit in Cleveland any time of year, and kids seem to love it too. read more

The best cure for spring fever. Smell the dirt. Enjoy some tropical warmth and see all the glorious blooms. The orchid show they do every spring is a must see. This year is the best ever. More blooms and variety than ever. Sniff stations, tons of photo ops, vote on entries from orchid lovers, learn about or even buy an orchid plant. Parking garage attached. The exhibits here are beautiful. We were able to interact with the butterflies, so that was lovely! The grounds outside are also fantastic, the tulips are in full bloom, so there are lots of colors to capture. It's a nice space to stretch and enjoy nature. It appears they're doing some renovations on the grounds and revising some of the landscapes. I hope to come back in the summer to see all the water features in action. What a fun day! This was a perfect activity for us, as spring is springing in Cleveland, and we were able to enjoy our experiences both inside and outside. The botanical gardens are absolutely beautiful, and this is a worthwhile visit, especially if you have children, since many of the activities are focused on their enjoyment. There are many trails and different species of plants to discover outside, and the glass House exhibit are not to be missed. The café offers delicious food, so if you are walking around the area, it's a worthwhile stop for a quick bite to eat as well. Staff were friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Small, but enjoyable We visited in January so most of the outdoor gardens were closed. They have a parking garage but I think it was about $12. We decided to street park for a few dollars. Lots of spots close if you get there early. Upon entering you go into the glass house. The glass house has two sections the Madagascar dessert and cloud rainforest. The rainforest is the better experience with more to see. Both can be done in about a half hour with looking at the signs and checking out the animals. The kids loved the misting on the rainforest. Upstairs they have a great play area for kids. It has a whole interactive wall with noise makers, climbing area, building areas. They also have a fun section where you can trace plant leaves, light tables. Easily the kids favorite part. You can bring your own food and they have tables available or there is a cafe with food available for purchase. read more

I went with a friend to the Cleveland Botanical Garden's event called Frost. While I'm a big fan of the Botanical Garden, the Frost event was a bit underwhelming for the cost. I think this is a lovely event to bring the little ones to since there were multiple crafting stations and play areas. After doing our vows and signing paperwork at my house, we went to the Botanical Gardens for pictures! It is affordable in the colder weather months to request the greenhouse and reserve an hour for pictures and an hour is definitely enough time, we were worried but we had time to spare. We coordinated the whole event with Rebecca Hannen and she was great to work with! She assisted us in the picture process as well, she had amazing suggestions for great shots and even going as far as to take a picture or hold a phone or jacket while we shifted around places. Truly a delight to work with, highly recommend her! The gardens are obviously stunning, we have been there a handful of times but in different seasons so it was cool to see what changed since August when we were last there! We were super lucky, the butterflies had been released earlier in the day and we were able to spot a few during pictures and that was a cute little blessing to our wedding day! read more

We were visiting the area for the weekend and looked for different must-see activities. Let's just say we were in and out in less than an hour and maybe a few minutes past the (free parking) time frame. What we saw was pretty and nice but just not enough to spend the money on it. I was looking for another holiday themed place during my visit to Cleveland while seeing my daughter. I learned about the botanical gardens and that during the holiday season they offer a special presentation called "Twinkle 216." If you reserve your tickets in advance you save $1.00 per person off admission charge. Special rates are not available unless you have children. We were able to park in their underground parking lot and head upstairs. After presenting our paid tickets we entered the main exhibit. All around the foyer were artist renditions of various Cleveland neighborhoods great for picture taking and gingerbread houses you can vote for your favorite. I love looking at the various houses since some of them are so creative and take a lot of work. They even had one of "the Christmas story" home complete with a fireplace and mini tree you could look into from the side of the house. The gift shop is in this area. We worked our way through various indoor gardens where more gingerbread houses were on display. I was truly blown away by the children's play area and much hands on things they could learn and experiment with. Also scattered throughout the indoor conservatory were various Christmas trees set to a particular Cleveland theme and of course a Hanukkah dinner table and a Ukrainian dinner table. We toured the two themed glass houses-one for Costa Rica and one for Madagascar. They glass house of Costa Rica had a 2nd floor overlook where you can peer down on the main walkway. Some of the plants and orchids were breathtaking-Including a full size banana tree. Expect to see some small reptiles behind glass along with a few butterflies. It was so warm in there but quick comfy to get out from the outside bitter cold. The Eleanor Squire library sits off to one side and you have a good view of the outside Japanese garden overlook. Woodland hall rounds out the inside with more trees and gingerbread houses. In the middle is a garden cafe where you can get a bite to eat. Even this area blew me away. Cleveland themed holiday doors were just so ornate. The Geis terrace leads to the outdoor gardens and walking trails. At this season of the year don't expect to see much since the gardens aren't in bloom and some of the walking trails are blocked off due to safety reasons. Nearby I noticed families on an ice skating rink playing Christmas music. The botanical gardens does have some special holiday activities. Check your map for dates and times. My family truly enjoyed our visit here. It was so laid back and plenty of photo opportunities. The holiday wonderland is sponsored by Holden forest and gardens. Check out the gift shop if you have time to pick up some unique holiday finds for those last minute gifts. Am looking forward to seeing these gardens in the spring and summer to check out their Hershey, herb, and rose gardens to name a few. They also have an outdoor children's garden. Handicapped accessible elevators are located on the premises. Located in the heart of Cleveland's museum district-it is definitely worth a visit! read more

Fantastic experience! I have been watching to visit the botanical gardens for a while as everyone rants and raves about them, and reasonable so! I would recommend going in the late spring or summer because the plants were just starting to bloom and get a little color back in them when I visited in April. When I hear botanical gardens I was of course expecting plants, but I was blown away by the living creatures I throughout! First, the main gardens which featured foliage from Costa Rica, had hundreds of unique butterflies everywhere! Then, the desert scene had so many unique animals! What an amazing place! Truly something for everyone. There are two huge greenhouses that showcase exotic biomes of the world: a Madagascar desert and a Costa Rican jungle. Both are full of cool plants and a few animal surprises here and there. Young and old will delight in discovering crazy new plants. There's also a fun play/discovery area on the second floor for kids. Outside is the more traditional garden experience with manicured beds divided into different areas like a rose garden, herb garden, etc. Even here the CBG over delivers, with a pretty large forest walk, waterfalls, and a big kids garden with things to climb on and frogs to chase. Overall I'm very happy my family went here during my stay in Cleveland. Hot tip- consider a family membership if you're a local. It pays for itself very quickly! read more

Meh for the price and time of year. We were really looking forward to going to the Orchid Exhibit here as it is the one spot by Wade Oval I have never been. While the facility was clean and staff was nice, it seemed really over priced for what was there. If you plan on going and want to make the $20 really worth it go during the nice weather months. Thankfully the exhibit was going on or we would've been in and out even sooner. Just wish there was more for the ticket price or lower ticket prices during the winter months. read more

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS PLACE. When I moved here, one of my colleagues told me to invest in a membership here so that I could visit anytime I wanted. The membership costs about as much as visiting 2-3 times so I decided to give it a shot. Because I live nearby, I ended up going every other week, and even more frequently in the winter season so that I could still walk around and get "fresh air" while staying warm. Even if you've been once, it's different each time you go since different plants and flowers bloom throughout the year. I do find that is it the prettiest in the spring/summer. They also offer a kid's playroom upstairs as well as a cafe with some food. My favorite is seeing the butterflies (I had a fear but got over it after my first visit) and the tulips in the spring. This is a really special place. Walking through the beautiful gardens here gave me a feeling of peace I have not had since pre-Covid earlier this year. I have been to many outdoor gardens, but this is one of my favorites. It is small enough to be manageable, but diverse enough to offer lots to discover. We loved the Japanese garden and the colorful herb garden. The flowers were in full bloom and so fragrant. Be sure to check out the plants that smell like peanut butter and buttered popcorn. I loved how they had lots of places to sit and benches tucked away in shady spots if you wanted to just take it all in. I could have sat and soaked in the atmosphere all day. There is a small childrens garden with a fountain, and a lovely cafe area with outside seating. Parking is available in the attached garage and it was $10. Travel tip: the gardens are in a museum park with several other local cultural attractions, including the Cleveland Art Museum. Would be a great area to spend a full day. read more

I used to really like visiting the cleveland botanical garden but it did get more difficult after COVID since they switched to a pretty strict reservation based admission. The facility itself also isn't huge so the admission cost sometimes felt burdensome and I would usually stick to going on days when there was a student or holiday discount. That said, the greenhouse displays were always gorgeous, and there were days that workers were there with animals (eg chameleons) that were being showcased. They have lovely exhibits that they rotate through as well depending on the season including the "Orchids Forever" exhibit. Really lovely if your a plants person! read more

Not much to see here on this January day. Extremely misty and almost foggy like inside the garden with limited visibility and very little in bloom. Absolutely no butterflies inside but there were a few scattered birds foraging around. Did manage to see a couple of tortoises and one blue frog. A lot of kiddie activities (puzzles,coloring and jungle gym things) similar to what they might do at home.The highlight of the visit was the peach ice tea from the concession stand. Highly recommend a visit to the botanical gardens. The current orchid event brought some well needed color and spring energy to Cleveland. The display of orchids was amazing. We also enjoy our walk through the glasshouse gardens. It was especially beautiful with orchids planted all around and hanging from vines. Very cool. The glass gardens themselves are awesome not only because the plant life, but many little birds/butterflies moving around.
