Worst breakfast ever! Order one: eggs and bacon roll with…read morehash browns. Received eggs on a roll and hash browns but no bacon.. Second order: eggs benny with bacon and hash brown. Received four eggs on toast with spinach underneath and something that looked like shaved pork. No hollandaise sauce and no hash browns. The waitress said the girl taking our order got it wrong. She thought I wanted additional eggs but I said what about the rest? and what was the shaved pork lookalike? She said it was ham. It's didn't look, smell or taste like ham. She brought out bacon but once again it didn't look, smell or taste like bacon. We don't mind if a place doesn't have bacon or ham but please inform us. We checked the website and we didn't receive nothing like the photos shown on the site or anything saying it was alternative meats. The coffee was good thou.

Hippies would be happy but my carnivore friends wouldn't complain. The bacon is there (yuck) if your friends want it. I was so thrilled to find a vegetarian keto breakfast out. And it was delicious! The keto bread was very good. I don't have to be keto or vegetarian but it feels good when I am. My friend is a vegetarian with no other dietary requirements, and he loved the pie. He swears he will be back soon. The third thing we ordered was the gluten free vegan lasagne: I liked it and appreciate effort like this but it was not a delicious wow like everything else: fresh with good texture and look, but we doing it a bit sweet. Nevertheless I'd be willing to eat it again.

A friend's girlfriend from New York came to visit Sydney for the second time so instead of just…read moreshowing her Sydney again we took her up to Terrigal. Onda was a last minute dinner choice based on a recommendation in the Good Food Guide. We rang up at 6pm and could only get a reservation at 9.30pm as they were fully packed for good reason. FOOD We ordered entrees to share (Fried Calamari and Scallops with watercress and yoghurt mousseline) and for the main I got the special of the night, the Duck confit with Fig. The Duck was amazing! I loved the sweetness of the fig and juiciness of the duck. http://www.yelp.com.au/biz_photos/-fAkdsxxsk8mlwQDNkSd4g?select=Hd9cweFrtwlUAH499Y-Z9A http://www.yelp.com.au/biz_photos/-fAkdsxxsk8mlwQDNkSd4g?select=pGbsTblKJUTGZaXWV65pTQ http://www.yelp.com.au/biz_photos/-fAkdsxxsk8mlwQDNkSd4g?select=ALbKqn7p6BrA26XJ7BnzRQ SERVICE The waitstaff really know their wine and were happy to recommend some wines to us to compliment our food. They were friendly and generally quite chatty which was great given my friend seems to love making small talk with waiters. VERDICT I wouldn't have expected a place in Terrigal to serve such high quality food but I blame that on being a naive city girl. That being said you do pay for it as prices are comparable to those in Sydney with entrees ranging from $20-$30 and mains from $40-$50. The restaurant is located a little up the road from the main Terrigal strip so the surrounding area is not so busy but there is still a great atmosphere inside the restaurant. A definite must try if your ever in the area and looking for a step up from fish and chips.

My only caveat is that as a vegan I didn't really get much to eat- the menu choices cater for ovolacto veg though. Of course they don't claim to be veg friendly so it's all good :-). Good bar and selection of wines. Last time we were there our waiter had pretty bad BO- which seemed funny at the time. He was really nice so I guess we forgave him. All in all I would say that Onda is worth a try if looking to dine as Terrigal. We probably prefer the Reef but you might struggle to get a table there. On a similar level is the Cowrie, if you are thinking of white tablecloth dining in the area. There are loads of mor informal restaurants and cafes in the area too, worth checking out.

Swell Cafe - One large coffee is taking over this pic! Poached egg with mint pea fritters, avocado and feta. This combo works.

It's a pretty simple layout with almost bench seating across one side and a few table sprawling onto the street. Clearly everyone else knew about this place because there is always a a couple people hanging around. They serve allpress beans and dish up quite a good cuppa for 'burbs coffee'- in fact it's the best coffee I've found in Avalon so far. I came here after a post beach lunch and went for the spinach, goat cheese, cherry tomato and avocado on rye toast which was pretty awesome- a solid half a star of this rating is attributed to that super tasty rye bread alone. They also do fresh juices- I tried the pineapple, mint, ginger and something juice which was pretty tasty. They staff were really chilled and friendly and the guy didn't care at all that I changed my order like 3 times. They were also going above and beyond to help give a recommendation to a couple not from around here about a nice restaurant in the area. Really enjoyed this place and kicking myself I didn't discover it 10 years ago!
