Had some water spots and streaks appear out of nowhere in my 2nd-floor ceiling. Called Emmons and another local roofing company, Ken Morton & Sons. Josh from Emmons came out while I was away and told my wife that he found the leak. He also said that our dimensional shingle roof was not installed properly 18 years ago when the house was built, which was why the roof was leaking, and that a new roof would cost $4K. Upon returning from my business trip, I called Josh and asked him to come back out, which he did. I asked him to explain how the roof wasn't initially installed correctly and he went on to say that because they didn't cut any of the shingles, the edges of the shingles were causing a channel every other row for water to flow. He continued, stating that Emmons starts the first row with a full shingle, the second with a 2/3 shingle and the third with a 1/3 shingle and repeat that pattern. If this is the case, then they'd be creating more channels for water to flow, but I digress. What a bunch of BS. Then Josh said it would cost $4K to replace only the front slope of the roof over the main structure - not the main structure's rear slope or both slopes over the garage. I asked why he would suggest replacing only a portion of the roof when it was not properly installed in the first place and also questioned what the aesthetics would look like. He (amazingly) agreed and said he would measure/remeasure all roofing surfaces and provide another price, which came to $16K. BTW, while on the roof he was stomping around like an elephant because I could easily hear him from the first floor. Was he trying to damage it? Ken Morton & Sons also came out while I was away. They inspected the attic but couldn't find a leak. What they did find was flexible ductwork that appeared to be leaking condensation, so they told my wife they quickly repositioned and adjusted it to stop the leak. However, I was not convinced that that was the cause after speaking with Josh at Emmons so I asked Ken to come out and inspect my roof from above. One of his guys came out, inspected the roof and said there was no indication of any leaking. Ken called me afterwards and said that he'd love to replace my roof but the ductwork was the cause of my ceiling stains - not the roof. Since then, which has been ~6 months, and after more than one gale force windy and rainy storms no additional stains have appeared in our ceiling. In summary, Josh from Emmons is the owner's daughter's boyfriend who looked and sounded like he never stepped foot on a roof before his future father-in-law give him the job. He just tried baffling me with his BS and, worse, he lied about finding a leak and tried to sell us, first, a partial roof replacement and then a full roof replacement - both of which we didn't need. Josh just wanted to make a sale. He obviously thinks he smarter than John Q. Public and has no interest in wanting to help people. Therefore, please consider Ken Morton & Sons if you have a roofing need. read more

The best of the best here. Do your research people! This company I thoroughly checked out online and I couldn't find one complaint with the BBB, Consumer Affairs. I did however find over 1700 compliments online about this company. From the person who came to measure and check my roof, to the people who installed it, to the follow up people to check the final product, WAS PERFECT! These people are anal about top of the line quality roofing!! You won't know they were there when they are done. My roof is about 4 years old with no problems at all or the mold/moss, it looks like the day they put it on. My neighbor used them too and were very happy. read more

We never went with Ken Morton. Upon meeting him, in the first 10 minutes, I was sold on using his services! He was professional, seemed very nice, and was quite personable. But, after those first minutes, I noticed a personality trait quite common to this area... arrogance. He bragged about his own house, made comments about the condition of my mother's house in a condescending way, and let us know multiple times how "well off" him and his family were. Then came the price of $25000 to replace the roof, clean the gutters, and fix some soffits. When we were quite incredulous about that price, he tried to push solar panels (his buddy's business) to pay for it. Granted, he will let you know up front that he is not the cheapest... but he will leave out that he is the most expensive in this area. I got 4 other quotes and the next highest was $15000 and the lowest was $5000. We went in the middle! Be sure to get other quotes people... and don't fall for the whole "I charge the most because I am the only one who does it right". Use common sense and realize the other companies are doing it right as well... or they wouldn't be in business for long!! read more

I was very happy with the work Ken Morton did on my porch roof; as the owner of an historic house, I was concerned that the new roofing materials match what was already there. Ken replaced the rotting boards on the roof with new tongue and groove, and handled the tricky business of the flashing where the windows were so close to the roof line. On March 26, 2019 I contracted Ken Morton Roofing to replace my roof. I was dreading the process of obtaining quotes and having the roof replaced. However, I can not say enough positive things about Ken Morton Roofing on all aspects of the process of replacing my roof. Dave that estimated and quoted the job was professional and friendly, no pressure sales pitch that you can receive from other contractors. He explained materials that would be used and the roof replacement process thoroughly. When the day came for replacement a team of workers arrived and the foreman explained process and even went as far as giving me his cell phone number to call him when anyone was leaving the home so that he could make sure all was safe for the family member to exit. The old roof was removed and replaced in almost a days time with just a bit of finishing the next day. To my amazement there were no damages to any of my bushes or landscaping, property was meticulously cleaned even after a week had past a worker came out with the magnet roller for any leftover nails. To this day I can count on one hand the number of roofing nails I have found. I had a leak that another contractor had repaired but it still leaked at times and it has been months now since roof was replaced and no more leak. As Murphy's Law would have it, the end of July I had a tree limb fall on the roof and damage a piece of the ridge vent and a couple of torn shingles. They came right out and made repairs. They will always have my business and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of roofing. read more

After years of dealing with multiple roofers and getting so called "repairs" that were more or less band-aids i finally found Ken Morton Roofing. A friend of mine had used them for roofing repairs and highly recommended their work. What a class act!! Their roofing consultant Dave, immediately went up on the roof to get a good look at what was going on, identified the problem, quoted a very reasonable price and had one of his guys out the very next morning. Problem solved! I encountered another problem months later with work that another roofing company had supposedly repaired and I called on Ken's crew again. Even over the Thanksgiving holiday they made sure that my roof was a priority. Their roofer Mariano was so maticulous, cleaning up every shingle and nail outside as well as taking detailed pictures of the problem vent and its cracks so that i could see and understand what was being fixed.
