    Sashimi selection

The service was a little slow in the beginning, which was strange as we were the only table in the restaurant. However, once we managed to order, everything arrived reasonably quickly and the waitress was very friendly. We ordered prawn katsu udon (very delicious), chicken katsu udon and salmon bento for main. Also, the 16 pieces sashimi selection. Everyone was very happy with their food choice and it was very good value as the portions were very reasonable. Even better with 10% off for checking in on Yelp. Will definitely come back and become a regular.

So here goes guys- a new sushi joint in Stockbridge! And let me say, I am completely and utterly delighted! Firstly, if you're going for lunch they may not be open at 12pm as stated on this page. I know this because I went for lunch today at 12.30pm and they were closed- so might be worth checking first. I returned for dinner because, c'mon, it's sushi! And it's all shiny and new! I booked via yelp (yay!!) for tonight. Service was fantastic, I cannot fault the friendly and helpful servers who were the perfect balance of not overly involved and involved enough that we were never left waiting too long. After going through the menu which extends beyond sushi to Japanese curries and noodles dishes, we just ordered a whole bunch of stuff for the table to pick at. The vegetable tempura was and absolute delight. Quite a hefty serving too that was so light and delicate, just a pleasure to eat. We also shared a classic sushi plate, octopus sashimi, dragon roll, gyoza, chicken yakitori and eel nigiri. To keep it short- everything was delicious. I highly recommend the volcano roll and salmon sashimi which was really fresh and flavourful. Oh and the chicken yakitori- holy toledos was it scrumptious. Even with a full belly I still managed to scoff a skewer down. There are a range of Japanese spirits available and a choice of two wines (red). Costing is extremely reasonable too. I mean, we fed three people with six drinks and the bill came to £66. Not the cheapest meal you'll find but for decent quality sushi and Japanese it's what I'd expect to pay. Whilst not the best sushi I've ever eaten in my life, but this was an incredibly enjoyable meal. It's a small venue and I would reccomend booking in advance. I anticipate as these guys find their feet in this area this will be a highly sought after dinner location in no time!

I love Kenji sushi. Now been three times and even booked it to celebrate my birthday earlier this month. Great quality food but not expensive at all. We had a great meal (6 of us) and our bill was just over £20 each for a ridiculous amount of food, including sushi sets. The fish is always super tasty and fresh and everything I've had is fab. Lovely, casual vibe and drinks are reasonably priced with bottles of wine around £14. Quite a large menu of starters, tempura, rice, noodle dishes, sashimi, nigri and various sushi sets. The sushi sets are fab value and commonly around £10 for beautifully presented food. Vegetarian friends are well catered for here as there are loads of options. Staff are great at accommodating gluten free and even provide gluten free soy sauce which is a nice touch so you are not left out. This is my too choice for sushi - food is always spot on, great service and I love the casual dining experience without it all being a bit Yo sushi! Five stars from me :-)

Nigiri Set! Pretty good. Seafood is awesome in Scotland so they have that fact on their side!

Very nice joint! Beautiful decor! Peaceful...Out of Scotland as soon as you set foot, which is desirable sometimes when you've had enough of real life, no fault of Scotland... like stepping into Asia of days bygone, zen... Not part of the meaning crowd. A delight in Stockbridge which is as Edinburgh as you can get! I had the Nigiri set which is 7 piece sushi of all kinds fishes! Plus 2 pieces sweet cakes made of egg pudding and 2 pieces of rice wrapped in sweet skin made of soy protein. Large sake -- two small bottles with 50% discount because you know your limit before you ordered! I love sake and can drink a large bottle, no problem! Great staff! Good service!

Great little sushi place with a variety of options other than sushi. The food was delicious and the portions were above average. Highly recommend the Auvergne starter.

I understand from other reviewers that it's mainly a delivery service, but they certainly seemed to be doing well catering for the lunchtime market, judging by the available selection of delicious sushi boxes on the chiller shelves. It's hard to choose what to get as it all looks so delicious! They have a good selection of veggie sushi too, which is always nice to see. The prices are perhaps a little on the expensive side; I spent just over £10 on two sushi boxes and a drink, which was a little over my usual lunch budget. But I didn't regret it as the sushi was excellent and certainly kept me going throughout a busy Festival afternoon.

The butternut pumpkin sushi was mind blowing and I could gladly eat that daily. Katsu chicken maki rolls were in no way small as I had expected, and the creative adding of red pepper was a nice touch. Salmon nigiri was fresh, and surprisingly my only issue was the spicy mayonnaise in the deluxe California rolls was a bit bland, needs more spicy! I'm also generally a fan of seaweed salad to pick at, but this portion was a hefty size I happily gobbled up. It's also real seaweed (I have no idea what I've been picking at this while time!) Hefty servings of wasabi, soy sauce and ginger too. Delivery was fairly quick (about 45 minutes across town) and service was friendly. The price, for £30 total filled two adults with leftovers (for about 5 minutes, it was too good not to eat!. Totally reasonable for Edinburgh and I'll gladly be a customer again and again.

The entry confused us a bit since we came in through the shopping center, but once we went up the elevator we understood it was inside the hotel. The restrooms were also very clean! The service was slow but pleasant overall. The views are incredible. Looking over the city with amazing theming, I can see why people go just for that. I ordered edamame, miso soup, the Edinburgh role, and 4 pieces of nigiri (both tuna and tuna belly). The edamame was delicious, the miso soup was pretty underwhelming. For the Edinburgh role it was tasty, but we were a bit disappointed because our server said roles come with 8 pieces but in reality they came with 6. The nigiri was good with soy sauce but very bland without it. I've had some good nigiri before that was so fresh you didn't need to add soy sauce so that was a bit disappointing. Overall it was an average meal. The price point is a bit high but I'm assuming that's due to the view and location.

The staff we interacted with were all very friendly and helpful. But unfortunately, the food was the real weak spot. The hibachi chef used enough salt to cause an immediate coronary - a layer of salt on the grill before adding the meat, before cooking the fried rice, and another layer of salt before the bean sprouts and noodles - you get the idea. The couple next to us agreed that everything was terribly salty, but eat there regularly, and said this was different than usual. So maybe it was the individual chef. At the same time, my Dragon Roll also tasted salty, so who knows. If I were here, I might give it another try, but not likely.

Fortunately it was through an itison deal and it brought the cost down my a massive amount. It was only £19 for 2 people and 2 courses and you still get the pleasure of the Sapporo "experience". Sapporo is a show chef bar, so we had Superman, I kid you not, as our chef. He had a Superman belt and it said on his name badge so it must be true. We sat along with a couple who I believe were from Mauritius, mmm maybe it was Malaysia. Anyhoo, we ordered our drinks and food, which we ordered from an itison menu that Sapporo had created. They must be doing many of these deals, I would double check they are still available as it was it worth it. The sushi was good and the main course was amazing. Superman had many tricks up his sleeve, jumping out your skin most of the time to be honest. They suggest that you tuck in while he's cooking, as it'll just get cold otherwise. Not only Superman but other chef's do make many noises and beware you will also sound like them after a while. Hehe! I swear one of them had a laugh like a looney toon character from Who Framed Rodger Rabbit. I don't want to give away the show as I'm glad I didn't know as I really enjoyed it. It was cheesy but a good laugh, probably even better in a larger group. I need to find out what he used to cook the stir-fry veg as I've never tastied anything like it. The Teriyaki sauce was also delicious including their fried rice. It's an experience, so I say chillax and just enjoy.
