He is learning Mandarin and conversational Spanish along with his core subjects- all of which he is able to move along at a pace that works for him. I particularly like the way they handle typical "elementary" conflict. They hold a meeting, everyone can speak their mind and then they all decide how they can work through it.. a real life skill! In my child's old school an argument at recess meant children "sitting out" not able to play simply because they had a conflict about something. This fostered ill feelings amoung the children rather than empowering them to work out issues and move on together.. a very adult way to handle things. It's the small details like this that make all the difference in the world for ensuring children become productive members of society. After visiting many private schools we are so glad we decided on Second Nature Academy!

Sophomore year I decided to leave school because it got so bad to the point I would sit and cry inn a bathroom all day. I'm now doing onlinne school and graduating a year early my gpa is a 3.9 and my grades are excellent. No thanks to York high. Most of the athletes get drunk or high before games. Not a good environment at all.

Last year I had two in camp and they loved every day and every adventure. This year I have a niece there and she cannot wait for more boating, fishing, whale watching, learning....the captain is teaching them about the sea by showing them step by step. they pulled up lobster traps, fillet fish, caught sharks, rode alongside dolphins-total fun for kids. What really amazes me is the amount of knowledge they come home with and the level of respect they gain for ocean life and its importance. Great job by both captains and their family. Great crew.

My daughter is in her second year and she actually looks forward to getting up and going to school. The teachers are the heart of the school, they genuinely love the students above everything else. They put together creative curriculum that allows the kids to go to the beach for marine biology class, participate in local town meetings for climate change class, to get out into the world and learn first-hand! The students have a voice in choosing what they want to learn about. It's like a college where students are given credits and they demonstrate learning by demonstrating project work and reflecting on themselves - rather than just memorizing information/ taking tests. We are so lucky we found such an amazing learning environment for our daughter, which will encourage her to use her voice, practice critical thinking and love the community around her.
