Dr. Anderson has helped preserve my knees and hips by gradually replacing walking with lap swimming and incorporating a PT routine alongside moderate weightlifting during my gym time. He is also providing steady guidance for my other age-related challenges, including asthma and low-grade prostate cancer. This includes lap swimming to increase my lung capacity and referring me to the best local urologist for promising cancer treatments. I appreciate that he sees patients on a walk-in basis with minimal wait times, remembers my history, and patiently answers all my questions. This was easily the worst experience I have ever had. I am not one to write reviews or complain, but this was too horrendous. I have not been to the doctor in over 5 years and figured I would get a general checkup. Sounds easy enough. I called to make an appointment, and the individual was nice. I got an appointment 3 weeks from when I called. This was fine. The day of the appointment, I went to the office 30 minutes before to complete the intake paperwork and whatever was needed to make sure everything was on time. The reception area was busy, so I assumed I would need to wait a little, which was fine. I completed the paperwork but had forgotten my insurance card, so I had to email it. This is where it went downhill. I went up to the receptionist and gave her my paperwork and mentioned I did not have the card but could email it. She glares at me and says, "do you even have an appointment?" Yes, I do. She points at an email (last name is Contrera) to send the card to, which I do. And so I wait. She is doing her thing at the computer and then, again, glares at me and says my birthday does not match the birthday the insurance has. Huh? Never heard that one before. She was so genuinely angry I was slightly shocked at this attitude in a doctor's office, especially at reception. Ok, so how do we fix this? She says I need to call my insurance and figure it out. So, I call them, and they give me a number for her to call to verify my information. I go back up to her and tell her this, and she looks so mad and sighs very loudly that she has to do this. She calls them, smacks the phone down, and then snaps at me saying, "again this is wrong, is your birthday actually what you're saying it is?" The heck? Yeah, I am definitely going to invent a birthday for no reason. I ask what can I do. She says you need to call them and figure this out. At this point, after this back and forth, we are 15 minutes past my appointment. That's fine because if my insurance is screwed up this is on me and I need to fix it. So, I go outside and call them and say that you guys have a different date apparently, can you please talk to the receptionist and figure this out. My insurance person says of course, so I hand the phone to a different receptionist as the absurdly rude one was in the back. The new receptionist (who was nice) talks to the insurance person and punches in the information, and it works immediately. Simultaneously, the rude one comes back out and says "how did this work?" The new receptionist, on the phone, apologizes to my insurance person and says "it looks like we were putting this into the wrong system, it was our mistake." I am sitting right there, and they both look at me knowing they screwed up. At this point, it is 30 minutes past my appointment time. Are you serious? You're the one who messed up, and your reaction is absurd hostility and unhappiness instead of trying to fix it or admit fault. I wouldn't mind if you say ah I screwed up, but this a dang doctor's office like how and why are you so rude. So now, naturally, they are very nice to me and act like nothing happened. I even get her laughing and say "oh well at least this didn't change your wait time." Ha ha this is hilarious yeah your mistake cost me an hour (I was fasted and hungry) AND I had to take your attitude. Ok so I wait. Next, an intake nurse comes and gets me to get my height, weight, eye test, all the normal stuff. This is fine. In the check-up room, she goes through the standard list of questions. Do you drink? No. Do you do drugs? No. Do you smoke? No? She goes on, and I (accurately) answer no. She then looks up at me, laughs, and says, "you're so boring, what do you do?" I get this was in good humor, and I don't care, but definitely not professional. Like oh too bad I don't treat myself like crap, so I am boring. Whatever, at this point I just want to get out of here. I wait for the doctor. The doctor comes in, looking tired as heck, and asks me if I am here for a general checkup. Yes, sir. He says how do you feel? Fine. Any concerns? No, I haven't been to the doctor in years and figured I would go. He asks me a few additional, generic questions, and listens to my heart, says they will do bloodwork, and leaves the room. He was probably in there for 45 seconds. This is fine, I am not the center of the universe, and there are others who need care. But what bothered me was that it was so apparent that he did not care. I am an easy patient, the doctor is tired and probably burnt out, so this was a check the box and move on. I wondered how much my insurance was billed for that. Whatever. The lady that did my bloodwork was very nice. And finally, I got to leave. The following Monday, I receive a call, and the person on the phone says, "Hi, the results of your bloodwork came back, and Dr. Anderson said they look normal. Have a good day." Today was my first time seeing Dr Anderson. Andrea immediately took my insurance information and was professional and courteous. About 5 minutes later, Jessica took me to obtain my height and weight and then to the exam room. Jessica took about 10 minutes entering a lot of information about my medical history, includind making copies of labwork that I brought. Dr Anderson entered the room after about 10 minutes. He had perused the labwork before seeing me. Dr Anderson was thorough in his questioning and exam. He explained what tests he wanted performed and took as much time as needed to answer all of my questions. Another very positive and convenient aspect to this office is they can draw blood so it isn't necessary to go to a separate facility. This was a very pleasant experience. He anticipates my needs and is intuitive with all of my medical issues. I'm super grateful for him. He is very versatile and can perform obgyn duties and dermatology procedures. I took my son in this morning because of an injury to his knee. The nurse practitioner who treated him did an excellent job of explaining what was wrong and what he needed to do to get better. She really relieved is mind that he would be ok. My only negative was that the wait was quite long, but they were very busy so I can understand. Next time I will make an appointment in advance. While I was waiting, I had on opportunity to hear the interactions at the front desk. One lady in particular, Erica; stood out to me as very impressive. She was checking in patients, handling the phone and teaching other staff about the administration side of the practice, all at the same time. She was calm and professional the entire time. If I need an appointment at last minute I am able to walk in and get in and out within an hour which is great for me. Not only is this the most expensive medical center but they completely lied about the cost of the visit. Once all is said and done, don't be surprised to get an extra bill in the mail, which was suppose to be covered. Numerous people have had this issue and and apparently they are being investigated for fraud. Additionally, they leave you waiting for long periods of time, continuously forget why you are there, and seem to not care at all. There are plenty of other centers in San Diego. Scott is right. Skip this place. Its down right scary to think of this as a physician. My pages of documented arrhythmia were ignored and moved aside by the Dr. that didn't bother to introduce himself. I'm guessing it was Anderson by the blurry photo on Yelp. I'm having an arrhythmia from a lack of potassium & I had to leave this Urgent Care to go to UCSD, to see a doctor. Am I missing something? I'm in more pain than before I sat down to fill out the paperwork. Oh please don't let him try and crack your back. TRUST ME! I couldn't bend over. afterward. No physical therapy here, no muscle work before bones are forced. No idea that potassium starved muscle spasms are intense. No Xrays were offered thought of or necessary here and I said I was hit by a car on the freeway. REG FLAG. I'm shocked he'd attempt to move bones not even knowing if the one was still broken in my back. But I didn't wear my back brace inside. And they never asked anything in the 4 minutes I was seen. And the negligence goes on. You'll spend more time answering questions than actually being helped. Your asked to sign forms when you've not been given the papers your acknowledging signing for. It is laughable to think the "adjustment" I got would do anything at all. Come back in a week he said, AS IF! Never would I bother ever again. I'd heard he was great from one person. I needed a primary care physician and THIS IS NOT HIM. He should not be listed on my insurance as a PCP. I'll alert them next. NEXT DOCTOR! read more

I was a patient of Dr Anderson's at PB Urgent Care and he was the only reason I went there. Dr Anderson does an excellent job resolving back pain through adjustment. I'd tell him where where my back or neck hurt, then to determine the cause he'd poke somewhere else on my back that I didn't even realize was sensitive. Treatment usually involves putting your arms in an odd position and getting a bear hug to snap things back into place. He has helped ever time I needed it. Highly recommended. read more

After injuring my knee on Saturday morning during Jiu Jitsu practice, I couldn't bare the discomfort much longer come Sunday morning. I woke up and arrived to the practice in Pacific Beach at 8AM and was very kindly greeted by the front desk receptionist Cynthia, who I found out immediately was an expert in the insurance realm of the healthcare industry. Being the Administrator of a large PDN Organization, I was extremely impressed with Cynthia's knowledge and understanding of the insurance aspects, and am extremely grateful for her empathy towards potential financial burdens. Being that Dr. Anderson wasn't going to be in the office that weekend, she suggested I call her in the morning on Monday to schedule an appointment and she would squeeze me in...and since I hadn't met my annual deductible yet.... she technically saved me almost $300 by scheduling this visit for the next day! Customer Service like that presented by Cynthia is the bread and butter to the healthcare industry because I immediately gained trust and respect with the office and already started telling my peers about the amazing experience I haven't even had yet! On Monday morning I called Cynthia at 8AM, she had me arrive by 830AM, and I met with Dr. A by 845AM. He came in and ran some preliminary range of motion tests, set me up with x-rays to rule things out, and came back into the room to review his concerns with me. He referred me to go for an MRI, which will be scheduled sometime this week, but I wanted to post a review of how amazing and comforting of an experience I have had thus far after only one visit to this office. I have spent years suffering from back pain. Have seen countless doctors, tried physical therapy, personal training, acupuncture, cursing and sometimes resorting to praying for someone to take me out of my mysery. Nothing worked. What was even more frustrating was the fact that no one could figure out the root cause of my problems. One day my pain was unbearable and I came in to see Dr. Anderson for a cortisone shot. Instead of treating the symptom which was the pain, he was able to successfully diagnose and treat the actual problem - a dislocated rib! Who knew those things are NOT stationary?! Stay away, they care more about getting you in for an office visit so they can bill your insurance company than they do about your actual health. I'm a type 1 diabetic, and will always need insulin. After my last visit however, they ONLY prescribed 2 refills for both of my insulin prescriptions. When I went to refill, the pharmacy faxed the doctor to authorize more refills. After 3 days of back and forth between the pharmacy and the doctor, they only authorized a refill for the insulin needle tips. After I wasted half a day calling the doctors office, then made my way to the pharmacy, the pharmacist said the doctor refused to refill the prescription until I went in FOR ANOTHER office visit (less than 3 months from the first). read more

The wait was ok but the nurse practitioner didn't address my issues and I had to go a few days later to a CVS minute clinic. Doctor I saw was not Dr. Anderson so you might want to ask if you will see him or another doctor. The main thing I didn't like was that they only take walk-ins. I would rather have an appt. I could have avoided a over 2 hour visit. The doctor was nice & spent a good amount of time with me. However, a Rx that was supposed to be sent to my pharmacy never happened. When I called to ask them to call in Rx they didn't have a record of the doc prescribing it at all. They were supposed to call & check my coverage for physical therapy & call me back & that never happened either. I felt like I was having to do all the work for a simple visit. It doesn't seem like the communication is very good in the office. If you need urgent care it's ok but I'm going to look for another primary doctor where I can get an appt. read more

Dr. Anderson is the man. This morning I went into his office at 8am I had never been there before and I was seen by 8:15am. Very reasonable and timely considering there were 4-5 others there at the same time. I could barely speak, spit or swallow because my mouth was swollen and my gland on the right was super swollen. I had been fighting a bacterial infection all week that kept getting progressively worse. Dr.Anderson gave me a test for strep which came back negative and then asked one of his nurses to give me a shot or two of antibiotics. Then wrote me a prescription for a 10 day treatment of antibiotics. It's now 11pm (same day) and I feel great. I can talk, eat solid foods swallow etc. Haven't felt this good in 8 days. Dr. Anderson new exactly what to give me and didn't waste anytime. I was out the door by 8:50 because I had to wait 15 mins after my shots. Also as far as pricing is concerned, Very reasonable for someone who doesn't have any insurance. I also hate going to the doctor like many others, but this expeirence was far better than I had had at my primary care doctors office for years. I love how great and friendly Christian and Carlos at the front desk are even when I call they always remember who I am! Nurses are wonderful and of course Dr . I have not been very happy with this facility. I would have given them two stars, but the staff and doctor were very nice and pleasant. However, dealing with them before and after, things changed mightily. At first, they were in network. I have an Aetna plan underwritten by Meritan Health. Everything was covered on my visit. 6 months later I received a nice little bill. I called billing several times and received no explanation. Then I went in for another visit. Somehow they are no longer in my network. Very interesting. I had to change Primary Care Physicians. I know insurance is tough, but the experience for me, especially with billing was brutal. I had a very unpleasant experience here! It was my first (and last) visit. I did not get to see Dr. Anderson, only his assistant Julie Day. I was charged $350 just to get a referral to a dermatologist. The PA made me feel very uncomfortable, asking weird questions like: "why would you want to get your moles checked?". She did not impress me with her knowledge as I felt I needed to help her diagnosing. After the visit I needed to follow up multiple times by phone in order to remind them of issuing the referral and of providing me with the dermatologist's contact information. I had chosen the place because of the reasonable reviews on Yelp. After this bad experience I have changed my Primary Care Physician (I never got the contact info of the dermatologist, by the way..) read more

Was looking for a regular doctor to look at a sports injury and just to see me in an ongoing sense and this doctor has a family practice with sports injury emphasis, so I thought it would be a good match. Problem: they refuse to take any appointments at any time for any thing ever. You should be able to make an appointment to see your "regular" doctor (which is what this guy professes to do/be). The doctor isn't the only one with a schedule to keep. Staff really doesn't seem to care if you don't have time to wait for 2 hours and act like they could not care less if you have stuff to do/a life. This guy may be a good doctor (I have no idea), but the customer service/appointment process part of his practice stinks. I found another doctor on my insurance provider list that gave me a same day appointment - that's how it's done, Dr. Anderson. read more

I called the ofc because they had my ins. co. on their web site. The person said I could come right over. They did not tell me on the phone that it would only be a nurse practitioner until 1:00 when the doc arrives. Then I found out they don't take HMOs. It would be nice if the ofc would ask more questions before patient takes the time to travel to the ofc. I had a severe foot injury and it was painful and a waste of time and effort. read more
