We were there for about 2.5 hours, and the owner was kind enough to give us a tour and introduce us to the other horses. We rode outdoors learning how to trot, turn, and stop the horses. She (Cyndi, or Cynthia?) also taught us how to ride the horses backwards. It was a blast! The stables were really clean and you could tell the horses were happy and healthy. They also offer horse riding lessons in the woods / mountains. Would absolutely love to go back!

The indoor ring is invaluable for winter training, and Kim and Bruce make every effort to accommodate each horse's unique needs. But more importantly the personal care of both Kim and her husband Bruce goes beyond just holding for the vet or giving lessons. Kim has stayed in the barn all night keeping watch over sick horses, and taken my child from a relative beginner to showing on the A Circuit in different disciplines. With a downsizing/pre-retirement move to Lexington, VA several years ago, I began my search for a…read morehorse boarding facility that would be the retirement home for my two horses. After visiting several sites and interviewing the owners/managers, I found that only one such site actually exceeded all of my expectations: y Tiempo. So for almost two years now, my horses have had all their equine needs met (shelter, feeding, farrier/vet visits), along with my daily visits after work. But most important, there is a bond between the great folks at y Tiempo and myself and my horses that money could not buy. When one horse of mine (Star, my friend for almost 12 years) came down with colic a year ago and sadly had to be euthanized, the compassion shown by the whole y Tiempo team to myself and my wife AND the remaining horse, was incredible. Suffice it to say that a very difficult time was made less traumatic. And immediately a pasture mate (with owner's consent) was found for my other horse. After a few attempts at matching personalities, a new buddy was found for my horse. And ultimately I adopted another rescue horse. So while the horses are happy and healthy, the views of the mountains fantastic and the whole grounds tranquil, it is the equine knowledge and human compassion of the y Tiempo team which give me "peace of mind" and my horses "a piece of heaven on earth."

Thank god Rose's place was recommended to me by the shipper who was supposed to bring my horse back up to New England, described by him as "a place I never want to leave" when he has brought horses there over the years. Rose took my horse at the drop of a hat and cried to see his condition. In fact, she prepared me that she was not sure he would make it. Through her kindness, compassion, carefully monitored food regimen and expert veterinary care, she nursed my boy back to health. He is now as fat as ever and as happy as I've ever seen him, his nightmare but a distant memory. Rose is an angel sent here to care for every horse as an individual and to protect them as if each was her own. I will never be able to repay Rose's kindness, and my horse will never leave White Rock Manor. It is truly heaven on earth.
