We hired Kentucky Gentlemen for an insurance industry event we were having at Goodfellas at the Distillery District on Wednesday night. Our guests came into town from several states. All of our guests thought this was a very cool experience. Cody was our cigar roller for the evening. His exhibition of hand rolling the cigars was very cool. He also came outside with all our group and explained the history of their company and the types of cigars that he had brought to our event. All of our guests that tried the cigars, were very impressed about the flavor and the quality. The company that sponsored this particular event for us was very appreciative that we had picked such a great company to partner with for the cigar rolling event. If you are a cigar smoker and like bourbon this is the cigar shop for you. Yes it is in Frankfort, KY the home to several distilleries. So make a day of it. My son and I took the three hour drive through some beautiful Indiana and Kentucky back country roads. We arrived at the shop and was greeted by some southern hospitality. We were aloud to go into the back room for a minute and watch a cigar being hand rolled. We walked around the shop and walk in humidor for a few minutes and left with our order. This questions we had were answered professionally. We have purchased from KGC before and knew what cigars we wanted. I recommend the Bourbon and Cream and the Moonshine cigars. Just in Frankfort to do some Bourbon Trails. Just the Sunday, Monday, Tuesday after Derby 149. Chose my hotel to be close to a cigar bar. What a mistake. What cigar/bourbon bar 50 minutes from Churchill Downs wouldn't be open?!? Well, at least we got to tour some distilleries in the daytime (pre-5pm). Sidewalks roll up early here. Locals say the guy is nice; but u never know when he wants to work. Good for him. Not for me. read more

I'm not a cigar guy, but I spent time in Miami where you can watch them hand roll the cigars on Calle Ocho. I thought this might be similar. Not really. It is an interesting shop and I'm glad I stopped in, but it is more museum than cigar rolling shop. The people were very nice, they have bourbon (Blanton's) infused cigars, and there are other sites to see and things to do in close proximity. Parking is available close by. read more

This is the "Secret Spot" where fine, American Grown Tobacco becomes fine cigars. The staff is warm, friendly, and generous after the fashion of an well run small business, where relationships and familiarity deepen and mature with time. My Hubs enjoys a fine cigar every now and then and we were looking for a place we might be able to count on in the future to repopulate his humidor... This place is odd. It's in a huge old building (as are most businesses in the heart of Frankfort's Downtown) and it feels like a warehouse with room dividers (walls). We were treated by a young man who asked if we'd been there before. We had not. So, he escorted us into their Humidore Room. It was surprisingly bare, but, he proceeded to tell us about their handcrafted selections. They all come from local barrel-aged tobacco... barrels from distilleries all over Kentucky. They also sell engraved wooden boxes, if you are planning on buying by the box. I believe I saw that engraving came free. My Hubs chose a couple of their mid-range cigars ($8-$10ea) and a pack of Mini-Cigars they roll from the castoffs of all of their creations (so you get a nice mix)... (5 minis for $10). They were lovely cigars, the lot of them. And Hubs had a game night planned and wanted to grab a pack of the Minis for the occasion. We arrived at 11am on a Saturday, when the shop should have been just open. They opened 15 minutes later. Ok... Hubs went in, was gretted by a young woman. He knew the drill so he went into the humidor and nope... no Minis. He asked the gal. She said, no, they ran out. Um... ok? How does a purveyor of fine hand rolled cigars just run out of what should be a staple of their inventory... there's bound to be lots of castings to keep them rolling those sweet little Minis up... right? And why isn't their giant humidor packed at all times (to keep the proper humidity)...? Anywho... 1st visit would have been a 5* review but the second visit left us wondering if this business is actually viable and profitable... Are they just dealing with an odd space/location? Does demand not dictate them keeping their Humidor stocked on the weekends? Is business so light that employees aren't bothered to open on time? We'll pop in again to see... read more

This place is kind of a mixed bag. Residing in the heart of bourbon country with a handful of distilleries within a stone's throw, Kentucky Gentlemen Cigar Company fits right in and is ready to supply you with the smoking portion of your evening; just add a bottle of your favorite and some overstuffed leather chairs. The cigars themselves are advertised as linked to the distilleries themselves with certain pairings called out. The store itself is about 10 times bigger than it needs to be. Very little square footage is devoted to actual cigars. Much of the rest of the space is simply empty or filled with a variety of items which I was never certain were for sale. It has the look that it is in transition, but feel of being settled in and this is it. The woman working at the shop was very helpful and offered very personalized help to my friend looking for unique cigars. read more

I've finished all three cigars and they all were rolled right with distinctive flavor. They were also not so fresh rolled as to be too wet and under-cured. While I'm not a true cigar aficionado, these were some of the best small boutique cigars I've ever had. These folks know what they are doing and these cigars hold there own against the name brands. I wish they were cheaper. read more
