The good: This is a shelter that gets animals adopted. They are large and very well funded,…read morebuilding a new $40 million facility to consolidate and expand operations. Everyone is friendly, there are easy take home kits you can do for volunteering, and lots of great events to get animals adopted! The bad: You have to pay $20 to volunteer, which feels like a scam. They are incredibly strict on their volunteering and foster rules. I told them I was taking a dog out to go hiking, and they gave me a obese dog with 2 bananas and 2 collars around its neck that were kind of tight, and told me I couldn't take anything off, needless to say we "hiked" for 20 min before I thought the poor guy was gonna die and then we sat in my car for 2 hours. I know everything helps, but I prefer to go to the metro services to volunteer since they do a better job matching you with animals and even let you do sleepovers!
