I would give this company 0 stars if it was an option. This has been over the course of multiple rentals over multiple years. Broken equipment and un-reliable. Absolutely no communication even when you call and email to follow up. Owner's "daughter" was rude, took my information, told me she would respond-didn't. Then didn't understand why I would be upset going through the same process again after being lied to verbally. Low price was appealing, but you get what you pay for. So I waited 24 hours to write this review because I felt it was the right thing to do to see if my evaluation of the situation we encountered would change after I slept on it. It did not. I will first start out by saying the staff in the back where the equipment was returned could not have been nicer. Nice guys, simple drop off. However, the owner of this business is about the worst representative of his company as could be imagined. We rented a steamer to remove wallpaper and all that was asked was how the machines were cleared and if we needed to do anything to them to ensure we returned them properly. My own family member got seriously ill after using a borrowed steamer....LET ME STRESS THIS POINT. IT WAS NOT FROM KENTWOOD RENTAL. Not only was the owners response disrespectful, it was downright odd. Talked about not wanting to deal with people like us who live in fear and going on about very seemingly personal aspects of his life that had nothing to do with our simple question. In the future we will do more research and find other options to avoid this business. Sadly, we always look to support local businesses but this experience has completely ruined our opinion of this long-standing Kentwood establishment. Renters beware. read more

The people here have ZERO customer service skills. I have had to rent here and they are just rude and curt. When you call on the phone asking if they have something they cut you off mid sentence and answer. On top of that they are expensive. I'll go to Sun Rentals instead. read more

I do not recommend. I was a few hours late, after calling explaining my kids are home from school with croup and I can be there a few hours after 10am. Our morning had changed after being in the ER. It's winter and I rented a cement mixer. I'm sure there were not people waiting in line LOL! First they were going to charge me for 2.5 days instead of one day. I rented it Saturday morning at 10am and they close at 5pm Saturday. I couldn't return Saturday after 6 hrs because my job wasn't done yet until 7pm Saturday. They are closed Sunday. I got there at 1pm on Monday and was going to be charged for 2.5 days! They settled for 2 days rental. Really?? My clients will not be using them anymore. Should have just bought one. read more

Over the years I have used Kentwood Rental and all has been well. 2 years ago I used them in for a graduation openhouse. I rented, tables, chairs, fan, tent, etc. The young men came to put the tent up and it after I went out and specifically showed them by a marker in my yard where the stake should be placed. I came out to look about half through and they had placed it a couple feet from where it needed to go. This made the stake on the opposite side end up right in front of my stairs which is why I told them where it needed to go in the first place. One of the young men was rude and visibly pissed when I asked him to move it. I wasnt just being fussy. I was expecting hundreds of guests and didnt want my guests to be hurt tripping over a stake. I called the office the next day and spoke with the owners daughter and she was rude and short. I was shocked and so disappointed. The young guy was one thing, but the lady who had been so helpful before now wouldnt hear me out she was outright rude. She said she wasnt going to "argue with me" I wasnt arguing with her. I was trying to explain why the guys moving the stakes was necessary and it was their fault and the one young man's rudeness was unacceptable, but apparently it was acceptable to his employer. After my concerns being excused and dismissed I paid the bill and was rushed off the phone. After spending a lot of money what started off as a great rental ended on an awful customer service note. I have another graduate and feel I cant go to them after being treated that way in 2018. read more

After receiving an initial response to an email inquiry (that didn't answer 1 of the 2 questions I'd asked), the company failed to respond to the following 3 emails. Against my better judgement, I called for the information I needed. When I decided to rent a piece of concession equipment, they refused to take my deposit ($60) over the phone or via email. I explained that I like far always and there would be no way I could make it there before the last one was rented. I received an, "Ok. Well, that's how we do it," and was hung up on. Rarely have I encountered such horrible customer service. I don't care if their prices are competitive, AVOID RENTING FROM THEM. I guarantee you will only end up angry. read more

Kentwood Rental helped me order the best tent, correct number of chairs, tables, and chafers for our graduation party. They were very helpful and delivered/picked up everything on time. The owner and has daughter were helpful and felt the prices were reasonable. read more
