Most reviews I have read mention how great Dr. Fort is and his staff. Those are all 100% true. However I wanted this review to reflect my actual experience of having my upper wisdom teeth removed via IV sedation, as I felt most reviews lack that. I feel this may be helpful for those about to have their wisdom teeth while having such anxiety about it as I did. My office visit was on 9/25 and I chose to do the consultation and teeth extraction all at the same time. I was SO NEVEROUS as I loathe anxiety and situations where I am not in control. His staff was wonderful in calming me down and assuring me everything would be okay. I sat in the dentist chair and initial vitals were taken like BP and O2 level. Dr. Fort listened to my airways via his stethoscope to make sure my lungs were clear. Everything checked out fine. I was first given nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help calm me down some via a breathing tube in my nose. This made me feel a little light headed, but by no means was I unaware of my surroundings. About two minutes after that, the IV was inserted in my vein. I was initially given just a small dose of the sedation drug to further relax me. Again, I was aware of my surroundings, but I could feel the combination of the two drugs really working. Now it was time for "lights out". I asked if I could start counting backwards from 100 to see how far back I could go. I was told to "wait" until Dr. Fort was ready to begin things. The next thing I know, I am in another room with the procedure DONE !!!! Yup, you read that right. No pain, no memory, DONE !!! My anxiety was all for nothing, and again the staff was fabulous. Now recovery... For the first few days, my recovery was rather uneventful. I had to take the typical precautions of not sipping through a straw, not eating solid food, etc. Around day three, my post op pain kicked in. I started biting the inside of my cheek at the exact same spot during every meal, which cause me to develop a sore inside my mouth. Then I started developing ear pain, as if I had an ear infection. I was assured that this was all part of the healing process, and was due to post-op inflammation. Dr. Fort was so kind, he even saw me at day six post-op to make sure everything was healing the way it should. Here I am at day 10, and I feel great and fully recovered!!! I really and truly need to thank Tasha, who is part of Dr. Fort's staff and was his dental assistant during surgery. She is FANTASTIC and a blessing!!! She was the one to ease my anxiety the morning of the oral surgery, started the gas and IV, and most importantly the one who answered my questions post-surgery about my recovery issues. I'd give them 4.9 stars if I could. Everybody was WONDERFUL except I guess this one "assistant" (or whatever they're properly called) was having a bad day. I was kinda scared, getting set up for multiple extractions, and she had left her bedside manner at home that morning. But the rest of them were WONDERFUL every visit - way above and beyond. Made me feel like I wasn't just another patient. As for the doctor, very personable, seemed like he knew his stuff, very caring. Free followup visit, no problems 2 months later. read more

I was referred to Dr. Fort by another dentist. I had a premolar that needed either a root canal or an extraction and I chose an extraction. I called this morning and they were able to fit me in within an hour. I got in, had a consultation, and was explained everything very thoroughly. The staff was so personable and seemed like the kind of people you want to know. Dr. Fort is nice and has a great bedside manner. He explained my options to me and we discussed the extraction. The extraction itself was so easy, and painless! I've had my wisdom teeth out and several fillings, and NEVER have I had a pain free dental visit. He is truly a pro and I felt like he listened to me instead of just nodding along. In addition to pain medicine (which they dispense so I don't have to go to the pharmacy (SO CONVENIENT!)), I was sent home with instructions on what to do, and what to avoid, some gauze to change out, and a syringe (I honestly don't know what the syringe is for). It has been 8 years since my surgery with "doctor" Fort, but since I'm still paying for my surgery (and I don't mean financially)- I decided I really owe him a review. You know how prior to surgery, they have you sign your life away- on that paper that says "Broken bones, nerve damage, damage to surrounding teeth, dry socket, infection etc etc etc are all risks, and while these things are VERY unlikely...."They aren't *that* unlikely. I have a condition known as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which wasn't diagnosed at the time of my wisdom tooth extraction- but 5 minutes of taking a good patient history would have uncovered that I have very lax joints that really dislocate, perhaps he wouldn't have man-handled my jaw so much, if he realized how likely it was to repeatedly dislocate.... And ultimately, break. *Maybe*. When I awoke from surgery, I was in HORRIBLE pain. I was told this wouldn't happen, but since they didn't take my patient history or pay any attention to my repeated warnings that local anesthetics such as novacain don't work very well, and wear off VERY QUICKLY- I woke up from surgery feeling like I'd been hit in the face, by a bus. I expressed this to the staff who were in a hurry to rush me out to my friends car. I went home in agony, and my friend filled my percocet - every 6 to 8 hours, one 3.5 mg pill. Apparently they hadn't realized that they'd broken my jaw - or at least they didn't bother to tell me. By the time I got home, and my prescription was filled, we had to PRY MY TEETH APART WITH A SPOON to fish the bloody gauze out (that I was choking on) with tweezers. My face was so swollen from the extraction and broken bone in my jaw, that I couldn't fit the pain medication in between my teeth to take them- every single dose involved a third party prying my teeth apart with a spoon, to squeeze the pill in. Not being good with pills- I was already terrified I'd choke- and now I had the added terror that if I were to vomit, unable to open my teeth/mouth, I would likely choke and die. Awesome. When the last of the surgical anesthesia fog cleared, I realized my lip was burning with an intense pain that wouldn't quit. That was nerve damage- since- I have bitten through my lip eating sandwiches on 4 occasions- 2 requiring antibiotics and stitches- I STILL, 8YEARS LATER, have NO FEELING there except that nagging, horrible, burning pain- that pain that comes when your foot falls asleep and then it's getting blood again?;that white hot burning electrical pain. Since I couldn't open my teeth even a tiny amount, I couldn't eat ANYTHING and drinking was AGONIZING.... Oh, and I ended up with dry socket, because try as I might, with my mouth swollen COMPLETELY closed, with my jaw LOCKED shut, I simply couldn't care for the wound properly. They did little more than calling in FOUR pain pills, per day, if I would find a ride to them every three days. This went on for SIX and a half weeks. I wouldn't ultimately find out they'd broken my jaw until I went to the ER, in absolute agony because the pitiful amount of pain medication (And mind you, I'd never taken a narcotic in my life) that they had given me was not remotely touching the pain. I told them (at "doctor" Fort's office, that with my history of crohns disease, I am not supposed to take Advil/Tylenol due to internal intestinal bleeding- but they insisted they couldn't give me any higher or more frequent dose, so on thier insistence, I was taking the maximum amount of advil with the percocet)-I ended up in the ER by ambulance; Between the living hell of having my jaw LOCKED shut for almost seven weeks the AGONIZING pain with ZERO relief, the awful burning nerve pain that i still have to this day, the infection and dry socket that came from being unable to properly care for the sutures- and the entire hellish experience being brushed off by thier staff.... I finally had screws and a plate put in, to fix the bone they broke, I had an actual knowledgeable dentist make me bite trays to reduce my horrible lasting jaw pain- though ultimately this horrible experience had a cascade effect that lead to my losing ALL my teeth on the lower left side where the jaw damage was done. It feels amazing to be constantly worried since I can't feel my lip, teeth and gums there (other than the perpetual burning nerve pain of course). It took 17 months before I could put a tootsie roll pop in my mouth again- and almost two years before I could FULLY open my mouth. To this day, 8 years later, I am still living with the nerve pain and all those missing teeth, plus all the issues from the broken jaw. zero stars; Just don't go here. read more

I am writing this review because I want everyone to know about what a wonderful oral surgeon Doctor Fort is, and what a wonderful staff he has!!! I had 4 implants done by Dr. Fort. He made me feel so comfortable right from try first consultation to the surgery and beyond. I had not one problem or issue! Everything went just as planned. Dr. Fort is so kind and compassionate as is his whole staff. They all made every visit so easy and calming for me. I would recommend Dr. Fort for all your oral surgeon needs! I am not the easiest patient - my anxiety and nerves run the gambit when walking in to a dentist's office. That being said, it is a rare circumstance where I would give a dental office/team 5 stars. From the point of making the appointment right thru Dr. Fort calling me to see how I was doing, was just top notch. For someone that had such a bad experience as a kid. Although I had to get 2 teeth extracted (NOT FUN!!!) The entire team continuously asked how I was doing and if there was anything they could do to help me feel more relaxed. Dr. Fort's office has been very welcoming since day one when I inquired about the procedure. Having wisdom teeth taken out is not something anyone looks forward to. When Dr. Fort told me I had my lower wisdom teeth very close to the nerves, I was very nervous about what the outcomes might be. He ordered me a CT scan weeks before my procedure so he could further look into what the best way to treat me was. Dr. Fort was recommended to me by my general dentist and I can see why. All his staff was very accommodating at ALL times and his assistant was very pleasant and informative before and after my procedure. Even when her and Dr. Fort were placing the tourniquet on me and applying the IV she explained everything they were doing to me. Working in the healthcare field, I see many doctors and nurses not explain a thing because they are so used to their routines. Although I knew exactly what they were doing because I do it every day, it was nice to know that patients that might not be familiar with those steps are being walked through them. 11 hours from my procedure- I feel great and have had no major pain; only discomfort with the swelling which is very normal. I understand that everyone's body reacts differently but in my experience, I could not have chosen a better oral surgeon for my procedure. From my initial consultation, I could tell this was a very popular office. That doesn't stop Dr. Fort or his wonderful staff from providing personal care. Dr. Fort personally called me to ask how I was feeling and that blows the customer service out of the water. I've never had that type of attention. I am typically skeptical of Dentists and I was feeling anxious when I entered the Dentist's office. The office staff informed me they were having issues and we resolved them together right there in the office before we started. Kenyon and his professional staff are charming, funny and they will put you at ease. They were attentive; I grunted and they stopped to find out what was wrong. I did not use the anesthesia an yet I felt no pain- this guy is good. Highly recommended. Also office is new looking, clean and welcoming; I would use them again but I need the rest of my teeth to eat. read more

The staff is very helpful, knowledgeable, the practice is only a couple years old so it's spotless in there! Affordable prices, very professional. I went to Dr. Fort for dental implants several years ago. Dr. Fort and his team are phenomenal! I was a somewhat complex case, needing the extraction of a broken tooth in one of the implant locations. They took a full, comprehensive history, had me view instructional videos on implants, and discussed my questions and concerns in detail prior to my decision to have implants vs. a bridge. At not time was I rushed or pressured to make one decision over another. I knew the risks and costs going in, and since implants are not generally covered by insurance it was all out of pocket. It was worth every penny and I even got money back! I experienced a dry socket and Dr. Fort and his team were so supportive - helping me make it through the experience. If you've ever had one (a random side effect of extractions from time to time) you know how miserable they make you. I was in the office constantly and they never charged me an additional fee for any of the visits or topical painkillers! I can't say enough about how awesome Dr. Fort and his office were! The implants were completed and several years later, I'm still very glad I made the choice- both for implants AND for Dr. Fort!! I tell everyone I meet that if they ever need an oral surgeon, regardless to the drive they should go to Dr. Fort!!! read more

Made a appointent over a month out. Even canceled a anniversary trip for this wisdom tooth extraction. Never heard a thing from the office, so I called a few times a day for 2 days. Nothing!!!! No answer, full voice mail box, nothing! At this point im not sure that I trust someone who can not take appointments properly to preform dentistry on me. However I will never know. Dr. Fort saw my Dad in the hospital to pull a tooth.... he later got an infection in the gum area and we found out a small part of the tooth he pulled was left in there. Also he told us a regular dentist could not take out another tooth that needed removal... however his regular dentist did that just fine and took out the rest of the tooth that was removed in the hospital easily. His bedside manor was rushed and unfriendly. Also there was zero follow up. read more

The doctor and staff were all very professional and informed me of all risks. Unfortunately I cant say I had the best experience. It took him over half an hour to put me under. At one point I remember him coming in and asking the nurse "she's really not sleep yet?" before he ordered a fair amount of ketamine to the mix and that's the last thing I remember. When I woke up I wasnt really too out of it. I don't really think I was on the right medications afterwords. The left side of my face had me in agony for weeks, and despite my constant care I couldn't open my mouth more than half and inch for over a MONTH. The swelling was overwhelming. (I used to be a dental assistant and that much swelling usually results in the doctor ordering a better anti inflammatory). I had some nerve damage and my right side of my face basically from under my eyes down to my chin was completely numb. About a month after the numbness was confined to my bottom right lip and chin. However it not just numb, it is sometimes painful for no reason and I can't feel hot or cold on that side if my face. Its been about a year now and I still have nerve damage issues with numbness and pain. I can't blame the doctor, they inform you of the risks, but I can't say I had a good experience. read more

Was very nervous about getting my wisdom teeth removed. They were all impacted and I was going to have all 4 removed. Ashley (not sure of her position) was very nice and accommodating. They gave me a blanket and after the iv sedation I was out like a light. Felt like I blinked my eyes and next thing you know I was being wheeled to the car. The office staff is extremely unorganized. I told them my allergies pre Op, and ten minutes later, they put the antibiotic on my care plan! Serious deadly mistake! Then I received a call the next morning, pushing me to choose an implant at $5,700 For one tooth. Last minute surgery cancellation on their part got them fired, after rearranging my entire schedule. Dr Fort was not available to answer questions my PCP had, so they canceled my surgery. Most Doctors will do a phone "Doc to Doc" even after hours, I guess this surgeon is too busy. "It's all about customer service" I will look elsewhere. read more

I cannot believe how great my experience was here. I got a wisdom tooth taken out in Orlando and had to get another one done but had since moved. This place was the only place where I could get it done ASAP (was in a lot of pain) and the staff was so nice and friendly. Dr. Fort sat down and explained everything in great detail, thoroughly. The anesthesia back in orlando was extremely painful for a couple minutes, here it was a sharp terrible pinch but very short lived, milliseconds. The actual surgery took less than a minute! Compared to a much longer one in Orlando. Then that evening I actually got a phone call from Dr. Fort asking how the pain was. I have never had the actual doctor call me, I was pleasantly surprised. Recommending Dr. Fort to everyone I know. He genuinely cares about his patients. read more

Unfortunately I had to see Dr Fort on two separate occasions. He made a bad situation very easy. He and his staff are very nice, and friendly but professional. They really seem to care. I came into this office looking to extract two teeth. When I walked in I found out that the consultation was going to cost $67, I asked the beautiful lady over the counter how much will the extractions cost and she said that is what the consultation is for. The thing that does not make sense is why would I spend $67 to find out the cost of the extractions if it's not in my price range I would like it to be and I don't go threw with the procedure I would still be out $67. It took a while to get them to help me and get them to give me a price, still they were trying to hide the actual price from me by telling me it's going to be $350 that's not including the the needle and the extra fees. I could sense what game they were playing it reminded me of a car salesman trying to rip me off. I ended up leaving and found a great Docter at Pasadena Dental Care no games or gimmicks just good customer service I got the price right away and they were friendly, the Docter made everything painless the experience was amazing took 30 min in and out no consultation fee and half the price of this place. Only reason I gave 3 stars is because I never met this dentist I'm shore he's a great guy but they try to suck as much money out of your pocket and I don't like the games they play.:( Hope this review helps people. :) read more

Exceptional, fast and friendly staff! I was so scared to take out 1 wisdom tooth that had a cavity and was half way out. Dr. Fort numbed me up and it was out in minutes while awake.
