My favorite part was all the unique handmade journals and greeting cards in Irish! I bought so much today! Loved this shop!!

So its been a firm feature throughout my childhood and adulthood. I would come here every week to buy a few second hand books, as I was such a fast reader. Many of the significant books of my childhood came from here - my first loves, as it were. As other independent bookstores in the town have closed their doors, I'm pleased that Liber has just seemed to get bigger and better. The store is modern, and offers the latest texts. Unlike other chain stores in the town I won't bother to name, the staff know what they're talking about, and are always more than happy to help you make your selection. The second hand book section is no longer a significant feature, but they have the latest titles in every section - food, art, new releases, childrens books, and they have a dedicated Yeats and Sligo section. Down the back of the store is Third Wave Music, where you can buy vinyl, record players, cds and dvds. A small but well curated selection of music, reflecting the tastes of its owner. If I'm buying a book, I'll wait to come home to Sligo to buy locally - my loyalty is a direct result of the staff and the atmosphere the place creates. The branding is contemporary and I'm always proud to give friends the gifts of books, wrapped in a Liber Sligo paper bag. Liber is also a ticketmaster outlet.

Shipped it to the United States, after a personal email from John, telling me he'd done so and letting me know when I could expect it. Rarer than the book, that. I said to myself, "You should write a review of that place" and about three and a half years later, I have done just that. Haven't even read the book yet. This life, eh? Anyway, thank you, John.

The bookshop itself is a book lovers haven with a great mix of books ranging from present day best sellers to beautiful antiquity books. The bookshop also has various ephemera - I spotted cool postcards, an original painting by Dali and tons of autographed letters, books and what really rocked my world was when John showed me a book that belonged in Florence Nightingale's library AND had her handwritten annotations! It's honestly just a beautiful jewel of a treasure shop and looks can be deceiving as the modern exterior hides a lovely collection of rare books, signed firsts as well as books from the time of Shakespeare. Everything was very appropriately priced and I picked up two books that were published in the 1960s (dealing with 'Modern Women' for a very reasonable price). I would absolutely recommend checking this store out! Note: #246 of Yelp 100 challenge for 2016
