Historically there were two companies in coexistence; Kerry Coaches Ltd and Buckleys Tours Ltd however both companies are now under the one umbrella of Kerry Coaches Ltd. History

Established in 1957.

The story of Kerry Coaches Ltd began back in 1957 when Johnny Buckley started providing transportation to tourists in the Killarney area via horse and cart (Jaunting Cart). Johnny and his wife, Mary B. originally purchased one horse and cart but this gradually grew over time to owning sixteen. This entrepreneurial streak is something that Johnny passed on to today's owner; his son Mike. It wasn't until 1963 that he purchased his first vehicle; a Ford Zephyr. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s he operated both the Jaunting Carts and also grew the number of motorised vehicles to service the local hotel's chauffeur requirements and hospital transportation. On the arrival of these vehicles the original company "J.J Buckley & Sons" was founded. Due to the on-going success of the chauffeur business and increased numbers of tourists visiting the Killarney area he added three new VW Microbuses. Meet the Business Owner: Michael B.

Mike is the Managing Director of Kerry Coaches. Mike took over from his father Johnny in 1979 whilst still a Commerce student in UCC. At the time there was a small fleet of 5 vehicles primarily involved in hospital transportation and local airport work. Since then he has grown the business to be one of Ireland's leading transportation providers, and Kerry Coaches vehicles can now be seen all over Ireland, the UK and occasionally on the roads of continental Europe. Mike's role is primarily overseeing the various components of the business from deciding on fleet replacement, the procurement of new clients and retention of existing customers, to maintaining the high standards that have been set over the past twenty years. As President of the Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce, he is actively involved in a number of capital projects underway in Killarney all of which will further enhance the tourism product in the town.
