This school used to be outstanding, and may still be in some areas, however I think it's long…read moreoverdue a review, since that rating is now 10 years old. Recent years have had less than strong leadership. The current Head Teacher has been there less than 2 years. Another new Head Teacher is due to start in Sept. Perhaps that person can begin to shift some of the outdated values. Communication with parents is not great, in some cases,very disappointing in fact. One parent was told by Head Teacher that their letter raising some issues (which was very well and constructively written, not by me I should add, but I saw both the original and the very inadequate response) was 'not going to be responded to', so parent's views seem neither appreciated valued, even if the school claims otherwise. Some teachers could benefit from improved listening skills. There seems to be an undue emphasis placed on conforming and 'obeying' with punitive consequences, and a very outdated 'red card' system, which need to be signed by parents and returned to school next day. I heard of one example when a 5 year old asked a question without putting their hand up - result: red card. So rather too much emphasis on 'shaming' than creating new understanding within a child. So if you have a very compliant child, this school might just work for you. But I want my child to flourish, and gain in confidence and respect, not just conform. I will be seeking somewhere else...

The children and staff are happy and work hard, an ethos of mutual respect and valuing the individual is central to this school's beliefs. The school is very well established and respected within the local community. My daughter goes here and has always been very happy. They have a swimming pool and an extra sports pavilion and sports centre nearby. A multi cultural school with provision for disabled children, the children achieve well and are secure and happy.

Manor School is now a specialist Sports and Science college. I went here for my last school year (11),a few years ago and I liked this school. I made a few very good mates here. The teachers were kind,helpfull and very understanding. This school used to have carboot sales every few weeks but have sadly stopped them now,after about 20 years. I found most kids here were vert friendly and always helped each other.

The University of Leicester is regularly listed in the top 20 British universities by both the Times and the Guardian, with the Guardian having rated it as high as 12th and the Times having voted it the Times Higher Education University of the Year in 2008/9 (with special mentions both before and afterwards).
