I was in charge of organizing a multigenerational family session with some hard people to please. I was drawn to her pictures, the lighting and the way she captured families. We were initially planning a March 2018 wedding, before finally settling on September 2018. Holly was great and very flexible with us changing dates around. I met Holly and her husband Bruce before hiring them - they left a great first impression, they are full of energy, professional & great people. Holly photographed our engagement photos in an unconventional way. My now husband was coming home from a 6 month deployment on a submarine & I wanted to have a photographer there and have those as our engagement pictures since we had gotten engaged right before he left on deployment. He came home from his last deployment in May 2017. Holly was very accommodating with our situation and not knowing a lot of details ahead of time due to operational security. The photos turned out beautiful, and we even got shots with my husbands family that was visiting from out of town. Holly made everyone feel comfortable and got through the pictures in a timely manner! Fast forward to our September 2018 wedding, I had sent Holly inspirational pictures that I wanted re-created on our wedding day & she made sure that we got them all! Holly and I had a phone call about a week before the wedding to discuss family shots and not to miss pictures, she provided lots of great suggestions along with taking my ideas into account as well. Holly was prompt on our wedding day meeting the ladies at the hotel and got to shooting straight away. I knew that Holly would blend in just fine with the moms and girls, she's professional yet personable. Bruce usually shoots with Holly on wedding days but he had a family accident and was unable to attend. Holly provided a wonderful substitute photographer - Derek of Derek Chad Photography. He was a wonderful addition and blended right in. You could tell that they had a great connection as photographers and worked well together! Holly and Derek were both extremely accommodating on our wedding day - they were available to us when there were group shots we wanted to get, yet they made sure not to miss all the details. The turnaround time for our pictures was phenomenal, I was in awe of how fast Holly returned the photos to us, she had the photos to us NINE DAYS after the wedding! I've heard of some people having to wait months, I'm very impressed with the turnaround time and the quality of Holly's photography! Holly was familiar with our venue and our getting ready location, the Coronado Community Center and the Glorietta Bay Inn. We were running a bit behind on the wedding day - Holly ensured that we were still able to get in all of the pictures and navigated Coronado like a pro! We are so pleased with the final product & the delivery of the product! I can't wait to display the photography around our future house and share with our families for the holidays. Understanding that she donated this package we gave her the benefit of the doubt in the name of charity but ultimately were still left with a horrible experience. It was clear we were her lowest priority clients and each time we showed up at her studio she was unprepared and had conveniently had some technical issue as an excuse. Our planning session felt more like a timeshare pitch trying to get us to buy sets of portraits and canvas prints. When we politely declined on those items our session was thrown together for Sunset at Scripps pier... which was fine with us. On the day of the photo shoot Debora was over 30 minutes late... which is rather important as we cannot reschedule the sunset. This resulted in little to no instruction before getting started, the entire time we did not know what was going on and felt rushed as we started late. For the final review of the photos, there was another technical issue that caused her to hastily throw the photos together for us to pick from. During this session we reaffirmed that we were not interested in printed forms but more the digital copies. She then told us for the first time that digital copies were a separate package and an additional $1500 for 6 photos. She also told us that we had 1 week to make up our mind to order any prints or digital copies of the photos before she deleted them for good. It honestly felt like she was holding our photos ransom for more money. After reconfirming we just wanted the digital photos Debora sent us an email saying she had "miscommunicated along the way" and maybe we should "find a digital photographer who is a better fit for our needs." She is now not answering our phone calls or emails despite a standing $400 credit we have with her and has not sent us one single photo she took of us... the photos were decent which is the only reason for the 2 star rating. As someone who has bought a lot of items at charity events I am understanding of the economics behind a business donating their time but to spend over $1000 and hours of our time and not even get a single photo has left us feeling scammed."
