For the Aussie man who considers himself more of a Euro-man, this is your place. Starting off in a tiny tucked away store on Queen Street, this deluxe men's boutique recently expanded to a bigger store on Edward Street where it can display more of its samples. Whilst making its suits from scratch, doing two to three fittings with the client throughout the production process, jeans and shirts can be bought off the rack, and adjusted to obtain the perfect fit. My boyfriend has had several garments made for him at the Cloakroom: two jackets (around $800 each), two long-sleeved shirts and two pairs of jeans (around $270 each). One of the pairs of jeans has been worn 3-4 days a week for about three years and except for a hole in the crotch, which I've mended, they're still in good shape. The only thing about them is that they've lost a lot of colour, a comment my boyfriend will be making when he returns to Cloakroom for his next pair. Men if you're tired of ill-fitting off-the-rack clothing and have a bit of money to spend, go in and see the tailors at the Cloakroom. But, be warned, you won't want to return to the likes of Myer and David Jones!

The guys working here are passionate about their work. I have found that they are more than happy to sit through and talk out specifics if you're unsure on certain factors about suiting. I will definitely be returning to have future suits made here. It is difficult to find a suit that fits me well as I have an athletic physic. Having the suits, made to my measurements, from scratch really makes a difference and is the reason I don't mind paying a premium to get my suits from here. Further, to go a premium off the rack or made to measure from either Canali or Zegna with the same quality materials will likely cost more. Make sure to get sized up and have your order organised well in advance. The guys here will try to have the suit ready for a fitting within 4-5 weeks. However, this won't always be possible. Once the suit is in store and ready for final fitting it can usually be ready for pick-up within 24 hours. Another tip: Ask them to recommend a dry-cleaner too.

Out the front were a bargain 'bin' and a rack of sale items, almost all of which were high heels. Inside you'll find racks of shoes, again mainly high heels. I get the feeling the shop is owned and run by Carrie Bradshaw's cousin, who shares the passion for height boosting footwear but at more affordable prices. Most of the shoes I saw were office-type shoes with a twist, it's not a place I would go to find something to complement my latest Saturday night outfit.

It's a little challenging trying on shoes, especially, when women flock here on their lunch break to feed their shopping craves. So try and visit on non peak time like after 10am but before lunch, or after lunch but before 5pm. Despite this, I still love it here. The girls who work here are so nice. Even when it's busy they make sure to get to everyone and help. Customer service is very important in shoe shops, because most times you want to try on different sizes, different colour, different styles and that's what they're here to help with. I've never seen so many Doc Martens anywhere else (my mum does not wear Doc Martens). They have plenty of other big brands like Birkenstock, Florsheim and Sketchers. I love that Shays Shoes has been around for so long and is still selling many of the brands that they sold back in the 70s. They still sell a big range range of Dr. Martens, Birkenstocks, and Hush Puppies. Maybe one of the reasons that Shays Shoes has been around for so long is that they manage to cater for everyone. Whether you're a youth wanting a pair of floral-patterned docs, a Mum wanting some Birkenstocks, or a Grandma after some comfy Hush Puppies, Shays has always been the place to find a treat for your feet. I bought Docs here a few years back and they were so helpful and lovely and I still enjoy browsing their new stock when I'm in the area. Some things are built to last and Shays Shoes is one of them.

I went there to buy a couple of new shirts before a job interview a few years ago and came away with two shiny new additions to my wardrobe and surprisingly, change from $100. One of the finds, a fine white cotton number with a small collar and buttons down to the navel, has become one of my favourites for its casual yet stylish look and comfortable feel. I was then forced to attempt an online exchange, where they tried to charge me an additional fee. After I complained, I was passed between multiple AI agents for weeks, repeatedly answering pointless questions, only to be told after 20 days that the issue would be escalated to a human. No human ever replied. By the time I opened a PayPal dispute, I was told it was too late to appeal due to the delays they caused. This feels deliberately obstructive and designed to make customers give up. I won't shop here again

The staff members are all young at heart, fun and they make it their mission to solve your problem of not getting something that fits. In other shops I would walk out if they don't have my size, but here there was enough knowledgeable staff on the floor to attend to all the customers. I was helped by a lady recommending which cut would work well for me and another bringing more to try on, but only one pair didn't fit well. This turned out to be the shortest shopping expedition in history and in a few minutes, I got what I was hoping for: very comfy jeans that fits well too! On top of this, they had a special and I bought 4 pairs at an absolute steal! When making payment, a friendly lad told me about their guarantee, which is superb. I walked out of there and felt absolutely delighted! Yeah! Nobody will be able to keep me away from this shop now!
